I never even cared about Ant-man and thought it was a pretty lame character until that old trailer of him running down the hallway and down the barrel of a gun. That made me understand and see the potential for a hero like that so i'm reasonably looking forward to this. The trailer was pretty basic tho and didn't really tell you much about the tone or plot besides some generic "your special, save the world, for your daughter" stuff.

I have to say, i'm starting to really hate the feeling I get when it seems like films just shoehorn a vulnerable child in there to amp up the audiences emotional involvement. I honestly flashed back to Spider-man 3's Sandman and how every so often they would tap you on the shoulder and say "There's really no reason why you should give a shit about this character so don't forget about that cute, helpless little daughter of his that he's fighting for." I hope the "daughter" angle is more than just a box to check in a last ditch effort to get people more emotionally invested
The child is important to the story and to MCU in general, she have a lot of history with the avengers teams and is the main motivation and reason on why he became Ant-Man. I won't be surprised if we see more of her and the ironman 3 kid after phase 3.

Edit

Yes I said teams

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

His daughter is hugely important to the story of why he is Ant-Man...his isn't Spider-Man 3.

Looking at the wiki and apparently Avon Barksdale and TI are in this. cool lol

edit" holy shit , Judy Greer too. love her.

edit part two:
Everything about this movie sounds great, except this fucking trailer. Hopefully the "real" trailer comes out soon and actually tells us about the movie.

I also love the guy who is obviously the villain.

Who made this trailer?\

EDIT PART THREE> POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE WIKI
The villain is LITERALLY the same idea as The Dude in Iron Man 1. marvel formula ladies and gents

Lang's actually not that interesting a character himself. I'd rather watch a movie about his daughter's adventures as Stature than him.

Yeah, I guess the hope is that this is misrepresentative of the film in the same way all the Iron Man 3 trailers were. That movie was sold as a super-serious dour trip to angsty fightville.

Ended up being a Lethal Weapon movie.

It was a decent teaser and it did its job. I like how they made his daughter a key part of his motivation, and introduced all the major actors in this. Would have loved to see more fx and a little more comedy. But lets get real here, this is going to be a super hero heist film with some comedic elements thrown in.

Waiting for the full trailer.

This is the origin story of a legacy hero, so it did it's job fairly well. We're introduced to the original hero, his replacement who goes from criminal to hero, the idea of getting a second chance/redemption, and the father/daughter dynamic. I thought it was really good. Loved the shot of him flying on the ant. It was great. Really dig how the colour becomes so much more vibrant in those shots.

I like you can see Rudd's eyes through his helmet.

This script has basically been put together by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, Adam McKay, and Paul Rudd. I'm sure there will be plenty of comedy. I'm really rooting for Reed to pull it off.

Kinda looks like Nathan Drake there.

Perfect.

Never knew much about Ant-Man, but I like that he has a daughter. It's something different to add to the list of MCU superheroes.

Will this still be a heist movie?

ERMYGERD!
Nice teaser. Have to respect Douglas for saying "I need you to become the ant-man." With a straight face.

I like Edgar Wright, but this thread makes me want to hate him.

STFU about it already.

In a 550+ post thread only like 20 posts are about him and half of them arent even positive. How is this the thread that makes you want to hate him

Quick search says there are 66 mentions of "Wright"

And I am assuming he is talking about how people are still bitching about Wright leaving and how amazing (like a hundred orgasms) his trailer would have been...if only.

lol... Ant-Man of all movies gets a 'serious' trailer from Marvel.

Maybe it's Marvel trying to subvert expectations again. You get a lame-ass named hero who turns tiny played by the snarky Paul Rudd...

but then you give him an epic, redemption-oriented serious trailer that says... "No, this guy is a fucking hero, treat him seriously."

That was disappointg as fuck. Most insipid, boring trailer Marvel has ever put out; the rest of them have been hype as all hell.

I cringed so, so bad when Pym said "I need you to be the Ant-man" :lol :lol

In the infamous words of the GOAT...Why so serious?

The mentions include every quoted post and Peldryn mentions him like five times every post so you gotta account for that. Theres only a fraction of actual posts clamoring for wright

Welp coming in as an outsider who has virtually zero knowledge of Ant-Man beyond knowing it is a Marvel franchise, that was a shit trailer. Just utterly horrible and boring. Zero hype for me.

Suit looked cool though, I'll give it that.

I really hope they let Paul Rudd do his usual thing on Conan.

I'm kind of disappointed in the trailer tbh. I want to see some action scenes where he shrinks and reverts back not him flying on an ant.

This might be all they have that's ready to show. There are only a handful of effects shots in this almost 2 minute long trailer.
