Wolfenstein: The New Order |OT| They put Nazis on the Moon, Scheiß auf den Mond!

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Whats with all the hate for the first level of the game. Aside from the long drawn out part in the plane I felt it was easily a fun sequence. The part that took place in the Castle was a ton of fun and stealthing my way to victory was great.

Just bought this from BB.com. How is the gunplay say compared to Destiny?

Less jumping, total reliance on weapons [no magical spells], much more blood, you can lean [very useful!], stealth is fully viable and nicely implemented. It is very satisfying when you start getting new weapons in the 60s and enemies start to get tougher. AI is well done.

Hardest difficulty setting is very fun [easy at first, but very challenging later on].

Sounds cool. What difficulty should I start at? Is normal OK? Or too easy for an FPS vet? Thanks!

Go above normal if you are a veteran. Death Incarnate or Uber.

I'm not very good at fps, but I'm breezing through the first section (after the plane). Is there a way to adjust the difficulty on the fly?

PC version

Also, how can I tell what the texture quality settings are? I don't see that option under advanced options.

You can change the difficulty in the options. I don't know about texture settings though (PS4 player here).

Picked this up on a whim during black friday, and I'm really glad I did. Great game! Got the platinum trophy a few minutes ago.

After not really playing shooters since Goldeneye, Unreal Tournament and Team Fortress 1, I think Destiny (if nothing else) has made me an FPS fan again.

Finished the Fergus story line on ps4 this week.

Misleadingly, the first hour made my wallet insult me with all sorts of unpleasant names. But it only cost you 30€, I said, lets give it a chance.

By mid-game, my wallet had this joyous look to its face. At end-game, my wallet was crying. Why, I asked. It's... It's like I'm back in the 90's when games were fresh, unafraid of the world, confident of their personality. I can even smell the burned aroma of my first computer power supply.

I agreed. What a gem of a game for an old-school old man like yours dearly. I laughed so much during the game. Classic status.

Salute

One of you really should make a LttP thread over on General. Game deserves some second-wave attention.

At the very beginning of the game am I suposed to be able to hear the person talking? Their voice volume is ridiculously low and the airplane sounds are terribly high. I have to read the subtitles in order to figure out the directions that I am supposed to follow and it is extremely anti-immersive.

The sound mixing in this game is bad, but that sounds especially troublesome...I had to play with headphones and with subtitles on.

I know there was a patch for some rudimentary audio options, have you played with those sliders? Otherwise I dunno if there's much you can do :<

I looked for sliders and I couldn't find any in the options except on slider for "master volume". I wanted to raise the "voice volume" and lower the rest somehow. Couldn't figure out if that was possible though. Are there other volume sliders somewhere?

Huh. On the pc version I see these.

Not the most exhaustive list of options, but yeah, used to only be master volume until there was some update.

Maybe the consoles versions didn't get that? Are you on PS4?

If you're on PS4, this might help, maybe?

No I didn't see the voice volume option on my PS4 last time I played. Not sure if the patch had been installed completely or not. I will look for that and check your link the next time I play. Thank you!!!

Edit:

Yup PS4 doesn't have that voice volume slider and the voice volumes are very low and the expulsions and music and sound effects volumes are extremely loud. Ugh. Sucks. Makes it hard to get into the game. All I her games with my same setup don't have this problem at all.

I'm well into stage 15 and I still don't have the rocket launcher. Makes shotgun dudes and big robot guys hella tough. Where the fuck do I find the rocket launcher?

No joke, I watched Schindler's List for the first time last night and now I find myself re-downloading Wolfenstein in some sort knee-jerk response. Man fuck Nazis. Fuck'em right up the ass.

You just gave me an idea for Schindler's List 2. This time around, Schindler makes a list of all the nazis he needs to kill.

Including himself. Dun dun duuuuun.

or a 'My Name is Earl' style reconciliation film where he lists all the Jews, Homosexuals, etc.. and goes to say soz but they make him do ridiculous things to prove he's sorry.

Just finished the game. Loved every minute of it. I sure hope it sold well. Any indication if the developer and publisher are satisfied with the sales?

There's been talks of a sequel when the game was coming out but it's been sadly radio silent since then...

I want a sequel so badly, and I'm not even crazy about the FPS genre. I just love the universe they created and want to see more of it.

Just basically finished the first little section of the game and ended up at a checkpoint. Loving this so far. They really do well to establish the characters in the first chapter and make you hate the villain.

I'm playing it fullscreen windowed on PC, does that disable V-Sync? It's turned on in the menu but I feel like I'm getting a little bit of tearing.

I have a weird bug where the animations for the characters runs in slow-motion, but all the dialogue plays at normal speed. This only happens during in-game cutscenes. Any fixes for this?

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm playing the PC version.

I just beat this and really liked it so let me complain about it.

-
The identity of the game was hard to place. Like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Fast vs slow. Action vs stealth. Serious or dudebro. Even the music seemed out of place at times.

-
I couldn't decide if the VA performace for BJ was brillant or terrible. It hit its mark but sometimes I felt a real dissonance with the tone of the voice and the world around him. Even when he was speaking, not just thinking.

-
All the Nazis in the game are comically evil and/or insane which seemed like a huge missed oppourtunity. When you dehumanize them all to that point you lose the chance to show how they (and by extension the world) reached such extremes.

-
The killing of Bubi for the Frau Engel storyline seemed random and shoehorned in. Maybe it was needed for a sequel. Bubi was creepy as fuck anyway.

-
The Ramona diary takes the same tone towards Nazis as Deathshead does towards the captured soldiers in the beginning. I figured it was going to lead to some realization about what she has become but it just mentions regret which is never really shown and sluffs it off.

-
It is heavily implied that Anya is Ramona. Ramona is kind of a budding sociopath and Anya is shown as selfless and caring. This is really hard to process as BJ seems to acknowledge no connection between the two. Maybe the are drawn together by their love of killing Nazis or something. It did make the "beacon of light" ending weird as shit for me though.

-
I thought the camp in Croatia could have been a lot more intense and graphic. Especially after the asylum level. But I got to push buttons to make concrete.

Just to reiterate despite what I wrote I enjoyed the game a lot and look forward to a sequel if there is one.

I played through this over two days last week. It's been a while since I beat a game that quickly. Even shorter ones like this, so needles to say I really enjoyed it. One of the better FPS campaigns I've played through. Decent story and characters, some cool firefights, and I loved how most levels where semi open on how you approached them. I mostly tried to stealth levels.

Chapter 14 on uber...shit just got real mode activated. Seriously, that first room is borderline impossible. I've figured out how to snipe the general before he calls for backup, but 3-5 troops suddenly rush you, with two armored shotgunners there in the same room, AND some snipers above you. I can run behind a couch and grab an assault rifle, but by then, one armored bastard is literally two feet away from me, that I simply don't have time to switch to the rocket assault sidearm. Add on to the fact that restarting the checkpoint actually sets you BACK, in terms of health and ammo, the entire section is bullshit. How did the game become so fucking hard in literally 10 seconds? What the hell happened?

Edit: Passed the little section. The key is, in the intro, don't shoot shit, move away from the center of the ship, go prone. After the cutscene, just snipe away everyone, take out the lkw and shoot off the rest, use the apt fire from the AR Marksman to take out the shotgunner, pick up the shotgun and kill off whoever is left. The restart in this one specific part is just terrible. If anybody is reading this, protip: just restart the chapter

Thank you. I was losing my mind trying to devise a strat to get through Chapter 14's opening. Nothing in the game had been even close to this hard - whenever I'd been swarmed with enemies before this I'd always had full HP/Armor and tons of weaponry, but this time, I have nothing and am stuck at close quarters vs. a horde. Figured something was up.

Fun fact, I managed to pass that section on my first playthrough [same on Uber] without dying. It was tense as fuck, but I did it.

Hi everyone, sorry for the dumb question, but: how is the PS3 version? especially in terms of possible bugs, tearing framerate issues. A friend of mine didn't "know" the game and I suggested it due to its tastes, but I don't know if the PS3 version stands up decently. He has just PS3. Thank you!

Still haven't finished but the game is a ton of fun and the story is pretty engaging. The "nightmare" easter egg sure brought back memories. Didn't see that one coming.

I started playing Wolfenstein TNO (PS4) and it is a really fun game. However I think the Soundmix is really really bad. I tried it on my Astros and my Soundbar and the Voices are far far to low, while all other Sounds are loud. It is hard to understand your teammates and germans in that game, because the dialouge and the voices are too silent.

Any other has this problem ? :(

Just finished this game after months of hopping in and out, and I really enjoyed it. It felt like a PC-centric shooter, which wasn't afraid to embrace health packs and armour while adding its own twist to the franchise.

The story was also far better than I expected, and one that I'm hoping to explore in future. The story left a lot of threads open, especially the survival of Frau Engel and the Nazi Empire as a whole.

The beginning is the weakest part of the game imo. Not that you're guaranteed to like the rest of the game but I'd get through the first 3 chapters at least before making a judgement

Ok, happy I read this. Gonna try to muscle through it a bit more. Started chapter 2, and I'm not a huge fan of the mechanics yet.

This game is running like shit on my PS4. The game runs fine 60fps but every 5-10 seconds it stutters. The audio is also complete shit with stuff popping in and out. Is this a common issue?

I have only played through the first three missions but I have not had any of these issues on my PS4. Any chance your PS4 is getting too hot and needs more room to breathe?

Cheers

Just finished this game, coincidentally watching the man in the hightower pilot just after. a lot of the lore doesnt match up, but its a nice thematic follow up.

Must be something with the disk? Its not highly noticeable but its there. Also the voice sync is out.

Anyway, I'm upto the
prison
and whilst I am somewhat enjoying it, it hasn't really grabbed me. Should I press on? Does it get significantly better? At the moment it feels like a competent shooter but not much more than that.

I don't remember stuttering issues but the audio mix is garbage. Unfortunate stain on an otherwise fantastic game.
