Nowadays retailers revoke already paid for keys, which is illegal in many countries. What would stop them from cancelling preoders that aren't paid for and why would they honour that?

is way of the samurai 4 actually gonna release in january?

It seems to be delayed, probably will release in February, Ghostlight person posted here some time ago, you can search, if you want.

As for Way of the Samurai. It's hard to tell really. Things can suddenly come together quite quickly when working on games but I suspect it will be out after January. I'm going to talk to a few people and see if I can get a better estimate for next week's blog post.

"Next week" is now this week.

Still banking on them forgetting to fix it before keys go out.

Even if keys are sent out they'll just be revoked/blacklisted.

It's strange that GameStop still hasn't fixed the price for Gat of Hell. Are they just going to leave it like that and disappoint more people who is not aware of key revokes?

The price may be fixed later today seeing as it's now Monday in the US.

after they'll fix the price, they immediately charge all those thousands that preodered for $5 full price and then live happily ever after. That was their plan all along!
clever!

But I think it's holiday monday, which may postpone it to tomorrow.

what will get them even more preorders! to play with

Ehhehheh, oh wow...

When I buy a PC game I have to go through this:

1. Will it run on my hardware?

2. Check what 3rd party DRM/activation limits it has, if any.

3. Research into the quality of the port.

4. Decide which service to buy from. GOG, Steam, Uplay, Origin, and so on.

5. Research into any known bugs and workarounds.

6. Can I use a 360 pad?

7. Is the text/UI too small for TV gaming?

8. Buy and Downlaod (On my connection, takes up to two days)

9. Find out that it doesn't boot up, despite meeting specs.

When I buy a console game:

1. Decide if I like the look of it.

2. Buy it.

3. Play it.

Disclaimer: This is just my personal experience.

Well, screw nuuvem, I'm getting RE from gamesrocket.

Just a heads up, they asked for my ID after I made the purchase. JShackles had mentioned them doing this when he made a purchase awhile back, but it's the first time that it's happened to myself when purchasing over there. At least the order was cancelled promptly.

When I buy a PC game I have to go through this:

1. Is it on Steam?
2. [OPTIONAL] can I get it for even cheaper
3. Buy it.

Pretty much.

Well he's not wrong, I know many people who have experiences similar to him.

Mine though:

PC gaming:
Hear about xxx game coming out
Is it uDon'tPlay or any other random BS DRM? (MMOs are an exception)
Look at trailers, look at gaf impressions, look around for general atmosphere
Add to wishlist
Wait for news from russian bear (this step no longer appropriate)
Check Nuuvem
Do I really want it?
No
Wait for sale
Eventually buy it
Download in 2 hours
Never play it, play spelunky instead
Uninstall

PS4/PSV:
Hear about xxx game coming out
Is it an exclusive?
Will it ever go on sale? (I only go digital)
About 3 days after I buy the damn thing
Actually play it a bit
Go back to playing spelunky

Why would you have to decide which service to buy from? Like, are there actually people that buy games from Origin and Uplay?

Go into the Win10 hype thread. Some people seem to really not like Steam and apparently would rather buy their games on Origin or MS' imaginary new shop because customer service or something.

Is there any way to join a players game on Steam without being on their friends list? It used to be possible to do so via the friends list if you were in the same group, but that doesn't seem possible anymore. I need to stealth join a lobby at some point tonight.

Console gaming:

1. Decide if I want physical or digital.

2. Ugh I want physical now I have to decide if I want to wait for it to be mailed or go buy it at Gamestop.

3. Decide to get it mailed because Amazon Prime is awesome. Amazon Prime is cheaper for students.

4. Enroll in college for that sweet first free year of Prime.

5. Experiment with sexuality and question my identity. Thanks console gaming!

6. Get the disc.

7. Put it in carefully, I might trip and break it.

8. Oh my god I have to install and patch!

9. Play game.

Nope.

Welp, no Huniepop OT. Looks like skanky days are coming for SteamGAF.
This is a shame, hard to understand too, it's not as if people are buying this game to discuss the sex scenes.

Ehhehheh, oh wow...
He forgot a fee "firmware updates" and games updates downloads in between buying and playing a game on consoles. I spend more time waiting for things to download in my PS3/Wii U than it takes me to download a full game on Steam.

I would take that list seriously, because 7 unfortunately is very true to this day, if not long download complaint. Starting from last gen I hardly can remember a big game that I didn't have to download shitload of stuff, much slower than on PC and I don't mean downloadable games.

If someone is curious about it, you can gain achievements offline in Valkyrya Chronicles, they will unlock when you connect on Steam.

Same applies to Dreamfall Chapters, but not on Transistor.

Also

That's one mean spoiler, why would you post that at all? I'm not talking about me, but about people that haven't played a game.

There was a spoiler tag, and it was basically a comment about the game. If I put a spoiler tag, there was a reason, so why do you open it?

I'm not talking about me, again, but! I use lots of fake spoiler tags and not only me, and how is that a comment? That's just a spoiler!

Which game? Valkyria Chronicles, Transistor or Dreamfall? You could at least mention that...

Valkyria Chronicles

How is anybody supposed to know what the spoiler is about? People don't know how to use the tags correctly. Unless it's 100% clear what you're referencing put something like "<name of game> spoilers" next to it.
If there is no mention of that at all people might think it's a fake spoiler.
Well, it was Valkyria, since I played Transistor and Dreamfall a month or two ago.
Which of course everybody here is aware of

I don't know about you but I sit in front of a PC all the time to browse GAF and when I'm done I just want to relax, play a game and not deal with computers anymore. Plus I'm almost 40 and us old people are lazy fools, my brain only works 10hrs a day.

I need to stealth join a lobby at some point tonight.

Don't leave us hanging like that. More details, man.

You edited it but the spoiler tag lacked context. Which game of the ones you mentioned it was related to for example. And please don't tell me so I can forget about it more easily.

Well that was a morning's work down the shitter when I've entered about 2,000 dates all as 2014 instead of 2015. Urgh! I hate the turn of the year.

Ehhehheh, oh wow...

That's an incredibly selective and one sided comparison. Is there really only one retailer of console games in the entire world that your aren't troubled with choice and differing pricing let alone retailer preorder malarkey? Not the whole dilemma if the game might be available via PS+/Games with Gold later on down the line? Might be a candidate for a tarted up edition at a later date later on or on a new console? And probably a whole lot of other stipulations on either side of the fence.

Then again what do I know as I just collect games not play them :p

You are talking like we should know what games you played last month and what games you play now, which we don't. Most of your posts tells what you experience, but never what game you are experiencing...

Well, I have pretty much all GAF on Steam, and I'm pretty sure at least someone look what game I'm playing. At least you, Arthea and derExperte are on my friend list.

Yes, we are friends in Steam, but it doesn't mean that I look what games you play. My friend list is mostly collapsed most of the time so I don't see what games people are playing.

Umh, yes and no, I think. I didn't specify that, by it was clear since it was referred to the main topic of my post, the same game I was playing yesterday too and I posted about.

You main topic of the post was about unlocking achievements during offline mode, not about Valkyria. At least that was what I comprehended
