Harley 14 was fantastic! I know we're talking about Conner in art but Hardin may have drew the best issue of this run. Harley's facial expressions were just fantastic and really added so much to the story. This book deserves all the sales it gets, it is fantastic.

The days of Harley being a top book on comics-gaf are over and we are never going back.

I was given David Hasslehoff's autobiography, Making Waves, a few years back as a birthday present from a friend and as I was working as a projectionist at my local cinema I had a lot of down time between lacing up projectors and building films etc, so I read it. It's next level bonkers. Everything good in his life is a direct response to his actions, everything bad was completely out of his control. He basically talks like he was responsible for the Berlin Wall coming down and has a photo of him meeting Princess Diana in the middle of the book and calls her a "lonely soul". He's massively egotistical and it almost reads like a parody. It's both the best and worst book I've ever read.

Oh it is. I still like Batgirl though, more than Gail Simone's run.

Ohh man I have to disagree so hard with this. Gail Simone's run on Batgirl is about 500x better. At least Barbara felt like Barbara, and was doing Batgirl things. If it wasn't for the art I would have dropped the new Batgirl already, hell I'm giving it one more issue to not have terrible writing before I drop it.

I kind of agree with you on this. I didn't really "enjoy" Gail Simone's run what I read of it anyway, I'd read a couple but it just didn't grip me, so when they started showing off the art for this new run I got excited (because anything that strays that far from DC house style is a good move in my eyes), but it doesn't fit tonally with anything that's come before. It's almost like when she moved she became a different person. It's hard to say whether the previous run was too dark or this is too fluffy, but it's like they're trying to copy some of the more colourful Marvel books with wacky characters and have this book be all flashy and colours but they've forgotten that the story needs to be good too and you can't just have someone turn from dark and broody to bouncy and punchy.

I don't know, I'm speaking as someone who didn't read much Batgirl before so I'm torn. The new art drew me in but it feels a little weird as part of the Bat-Family. But then again Grayson is all sorts of fun so maybe it's just the darkness of the Batman titles and how Batgirl's been portrayed before that's making it seem so different. Again, feel free to dismiss my opinion as a relatively new reader of the title.
