I feel like there was a smidge less fucking "TIME TRAVEL!" back then. Character death wasn't quite as spinny a revolving door either. Which is ironic because it was always Charles "I hid in a basement because aliens / wanted to really fuck you all up emotionally" Xavier at the center of any time travel and NOT DEAD hijinx.

The entire story is based around time travel so yeah, none of it will stick.

BUT time travel's being used WAY too much in Marvel recently to fix shit. Uncanny Avengers and Age of Ultron, along with many many others as of late.

Hi!

So you guys were super helpful when I was on a Vertigo kick a few months ago and now I'm basically all caught up.

Now, I'm having withdrawals.

So now I'm looking for anything good, period.

For superheroes, my tastes trend towards DC. I've read the major Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman/Green Lantern/Aquaman stuff. DKR, Year One, All Star, Rucka's run, the Azzarello WW, Sinestro Corps War, etc.

I'm not a huge Marvel fan, but I'll take the great stuff. No fan of X-Men so most of that I can skip. I've sampled most of the current stuff (Thor, Avengers, etc) and it wasn't too my liking. I did enjoy Hickman's Fantastic Four, though. But I like Fantastic Four in general. And obviously my avatar shows I adore the Silver Surfer.

And I love non-superhero stuff too. I've read pretty much every major Vertigo book (Sandman, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, 100 Bullets, Fables, DMZ, Scalped, this that the other) and I'm caught up to the great Image stuff that's cool too. I used to collect way more back in the day so I read your Danger Girls, WIldCATS with Joe Casey, Fathom. Random stuff like that.

I'm looking more for completed stories too. Short runs work, I just reread Warren Ellis' Authority run, and Planetary. Stuff like that is what I'm looking for. I'm currently reading the Marvel adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. So anything works. I've even read the Moby Dick and Treasure Island comics Marvel put out. I've read Knights of the Old Republic and even those random Indiana Jones Dark Horse comics.

Any length. 3 issues, 100 issues, whatev. I'll read Spawn from the jump if someone tells me it's worth reading. :)

Just looking to pick brains.

Hickmans F4 run was all about time travel aswell so its not exactly a recent thing. and I agree btw, completely overused

I knew it was coming, I had a few weeks where only 5-7 comics came out. I knew one of these Wednesday's was gonna be huge. Next weeks pull is at 18 books! Good lawd.

Cyclops is a major player in Secret Wars, none of this will stick.

everyone dies. A plague infects the population that causes them to melt and then explode and finally a black hole destroys the Earth.

It's the only logical ending to this story.

Seriously man though, you have the talent, you just need to keep trying till you break through.

Oh right, before I forget: read volume 2 of both RID and MTMTE last night. And I really have to say, poor RID is in an unfortunate position, since it's actually a solid and enjoyable book. It's just that MTMTE makes it look like crap by comparison. And yeah, with Volume 2 MTMTE went from "really, really great" to "everyone in this thread seriously better be reading this series because holy crap!" for me. That ending of the chapter with
how Ratchet go his hands back
was just goddamn fantastic, seriously. God I'm loving this series, and I'm really glad I have up to volume 5 in both, plus I've still got Dark Cybertron to slot in there somewhere...

Buffy Season 10 is fairly disappointing so far, i think the worst of the three seasons. It's goofy without being funny.

That's all part of the self-contained story in Uncanny.
And Xavier didn't come back...Eva Bell brought a younger Xavier to the present with her power. I suppose this could all just tie into the upcoming Secret Wars stuff, but I expect that the younger Xavier will go back in time and do something to stop the super-powerful new mutant from fucking everything up or the mutant himself will find that he can resurrect people by the end of the story.

Not sure if it was ever confirmed but I think speculation was that what Marvel started the whole "Time is Broken" thing years ago as lead up to Secret Wars they essentially allowed or even encouraged their writers to play with time travel as much as they want which is why we are seeing so much in the last couple of years.

It will likely be put back in the toy box after Secret Wars and be used a bit more sparingly.
