I think the gameplay is better than Uncharted because of the Metroidvania influence. They said they are doubling down on that too, so that's REALLY exciting to me.

I liked it better than Uncharted as well. That said, I am looking forward to both this year and what each brings to the table.

How do you measure if a game sells the console or if the console sell the game?

We don't know the terms & conditions of the contract.

SE could have licensed Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusively for Xbox platforms, consoles, and asked a period window of 6 months before releasing on PC.

We know it's a time exclusive much like Ryse but that's it.

Uncharted 4 seems like a different beast than the others, though. I think Naughty Dog learned a lot from The Last of Us. The story will likely be better than RotTR's as well. Because of all of this, the two games will really differentiate themselves from one another, and that's a good thing IMO.

I really liked the previous game. A lot more than I was expecting to actually.

Otherwise, without any details I don't have much to say, but the graphics do seem moderately upgradedly.

It's definitely not a new paradigm for the series visually though. More like Tomb Raider 2013++.

Character models and to an extent the amount of stuff on screen seem like the biggest changes.

Hopefully with this game being on 360, it won't hold back the development of the current gen version. I'm interested in hearing about the dynamics of the two versions. Crazy to think of a AAA title being released on a 10 year old console (besides sports games).

Surprised the majority of comments are positive. I too am very hyped for this game because I loved the first one.

But the interview must be lying when it talks about not making Lara a superhero and the environment overwhelming her and having a hard time. After all, the first game was trash due to the fact that ZOMG LARA INSTANTLY BECOMES A BADASS AND NOTHING CAN STOP HER AND SHE HAS NO LIMITATIONS AND CAN DO ANYTHING SHE WANTS.

She didn't have a jacket and couldn't steal clothes from the hundreds of enemies she killed. She has learned from that mistake.

6 months, it's obvious there just avoiding uncharted 4 which releases the same month.
to release next to that on the same console would kill sales, but to make it timed get a marketing deal and release it 6 months later when people have had there fill of drake would pay lots.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a Xbox platform deal to come to PC later or if was an Xbox platform deal to come to PS4 later. I'm just saying that we don't know. I don't think Uncharted has that much to do with it aside from peaking MS interests. Uncharted is probably why MS was interested in being a publishing partner. MS doesn't have an unchartedesque game. The only motivation for SE doing this deal must be mitigating risk. That's the only logical reason I could see in my mind.

The only reason I say anything about this is that people seem to think this is confirmed to come to the PS4. It is clear from the language they have used that this game will come to other platforms in the future but It may only be the PC.


The really sad aspect of this release is the Cross Gen development.

I hope they scale down the story on this one, make it personal and less unnecessary side characters, we had so many in TR and none of them were interesting or very important. I'm still bummed out that it's cross-gen though, MS if you're paying for exclusives, pay for current gen exclusives please. I like that they mentioned puzzles, more of that please, those were really good in TR13.

Side characters in the last one were awful, truly what were they thinking.

Cross gen sucks.

I'm hoping for better puzzles, more freedom and a game plus mode with good encounters because it was almost worthless before.

You're not wrong there, but they need to focus more on exploration and some real puzzles. None of those mickey mouse, grade school level puzzles that were in the reboot.

Surely SE has a 3-6 months window before the eventual release on PC but really in the end, it depends on SE's priorities and the contract they signed with MSFT.

Hope there is an eventual release on PS4 nonetheless.
