So was the trailer PS3 or PS4 footage?

I'm assuming PS4 because, why not put your best foot forward for a trailer? But I hope it's PS3, as I don't think I'll have a PS4 by release, and I don't want much of a downgrade from this trailer.

Now I'm sad because we will never get Jense Ackles voiced MC.

Oh, I don't care about FF at all. Completely uninterested.

The games are pretty different. One's a big, open world, action battle system focused, roadtrip game. This is a turn based game that will probably focus on a smaller area with focused dungeons. The only thing that connects them at all is that they're both being made in japan.

I dunno, just seems really silly to compare them. Juvenile. It's playground-esque.

There's a little more to it than them both being made in Japan. I dunno, I guess I spoke my peace. It's all jokes. I don't see the big deal.

And honestly, pitting games against each other for no real, good reason? That's pretty definitively ThisIsNeoGAF.gif

It's all jokes. Ignore it.

Edit: Sorry, I just saw your edit.

I don't think it'll persost. The only reason it's a thing is the new trailers launching at basically the same time on accident. I think most people are actually just feeling what you are. This game had such a killer debut, people's interest in games feels lessened. I don't see it turning into anything vicious.

We'll probably get it by the end of this year so you have some time. Its most likely PS4 since its 1080p.

Haha, yeah, it's the core of GAF. I know you and Nibel don't mean anything by it, but other people on GAF, man...

I dunno, I just want both fanbases to get along. If you could consider them both major flagships of the JRPG genre, I'd like em both to do really well this year. (If they both even come out this year)

I really don't like Tanaka's commodities. Always forcing me to say no to every cell phone call I got on sunday so that I didn't miss his deals.

In Persona 3? Because I seem to remember you can watch the show on Mondays and Tuesdays too in Persona 4.

I think Persona 5 and FFXV get compared because P5 shows that traditional JRPG conventions can still be fresh and exciting while FF has been doing their best to move away from that. The same thing happened with Bravely Default and Lightning Returns.

What? Tanaka's show was on Sundays in P3, and
he was even a social link
.

Oh, that's right! The
S. Link part
is evident, but I forgot that the show was actually on in Persona 3; I had only figured that out more than halfway through the game because of the awkward camera angle the television was at in P3MC's room.

All the more reason for it to appear in Persona 5. I want the P5 crew to steal from him.

I keep wondering about the scene in the trailer with the medical area. It doesn't look like your normal high school doctor's office. She looks more like a scientist or researcher. There's an x-ray on the screen of a human chest, and also one of a fish? It's very bizarre. I feel like this is not just a place to get medicine or something; this researcher is somehow involved in the plot.

Probably a dealer.

Wow, awesome art here. I'm so pumped up for P5 :D Can't wait.

For me, I'm really curious to see how stuff like the social aspects will play out. Social Linkage is my favourite part of the later Persona games, so I'd love that to be expanded upon. Maybe have it be a little more dynamic somehow?

The more I think about it, the more unsure I feel about the night stuff in this game. I always found it cool how, aside from your Persona powers, you were just some highschool kid. You couldn't do anything crazy and it was somewhat grounded in reality.

Then you get P5 with some highschool kid leaping across casino rafters and crashing through windows two stories high. I'll probably change my mind once I get my hands on the game but it seems a little too out there for my tastes.

Yeah, Tanaka was one of my favorite characters. You could tell the writers were having a lot of fun with him.

The TV was weird, and Persona 3 also had some things which kind of discouraged exploration. For instance, if you walked outside your room on a Sunday you couldn't go back in to talk with Maya or watch TV. I think FES might have fixed some of this, but in vanilla P3 it was very harsh.

Would Persona be still Persona or more broadly SMT series be able to retain its identity if in the future they adopted a more realistic visual aesthetic as opposed to the highly stylized anime one?

It's a random thought that popped into my head after seeing FFXV and this thread about the "Mizuchi" engine (Japanese).

Gotta agree with ya, like you, I find the comparisons silly. Part of me thinks it's all good fun, just fans jesting at each other. Another part of me thinks it's the hype for both games has some getting heated for no reason. As a fan of both, I'm just happy to finally see both games are eagerly awaited by many.

It's interesting to think that, if P5 actually takes place in 2016, Yu would be 22 years old in that universe.

Than...how old would Nanako be!?

Older Nanako is so making a cameo isn't she? I imagine she is going to be a detective like Dojima.

Oh my god...what if older Nanako is the detective that tries to bust you!? 0_0

I don't think that care too much about the cutting edge.
