To be fair, it's not incredibly uncommon in shoujo. I tend to find that shoujo and josei romances are generally more concerned with the relationship once it has been established and, as such, tend to formally establish them early on. Shounen and seinen romance, by comparison, is typically more about the pursuit and the conquest than what comes after, which is why you see a lot of harems and "which girl will he choose?" that ends when he chooses.

I see, that makes sense. I'm so blind to the romance genre in general, I didn't consider that!

I'm just asking this for future reference, but what's the best way to check out Legend of the Galactic Heroes? According to the Wiki page none of it has ever been officially translated into English.

I'm guessing either the original books or the 110-episode OAV series.

Better learn japanese and buy the boxset like the rest of us.

My Conquest is the Sea of Stars is the prequel movie, then Overture to a New War replaces episode 1 and 2, then the 110 episodes.

The unofficial translation into English of the novel volumes (that isn't using the Chinese version as base for many parts, unlike in the other failed attempts) made by Tracy Chu is proceeding at a greater pace than any other incomplete before it did, Peter Tan's included. Up to 'Chapter Ten' already, the complete first volume...

Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - 18

This show delivers on that front, probably just about the only anime from the ones I recall watching. It even deals tastefully with sex.

At this point, the first 18 episodes, I'm giving it a 10/10. I don't have any criticism directed at it really. At best I could say it's not deserving of a 10/10 because it's not the most ambitious kind of story, however even that isn't really true. It's not 'Evangelion' sure, it's not as out of control as FLCL either, but, while more grounded, it is still a coming of age story that reaches high.

In short.

Now, let's see the nose dive I guess?
Whatever I'm about to see, even if it's obviously not conclusive at this point, the first 18 episodes will definitely get a recommendation from me.

Hisoka is the best character in Hunter X Hunter. He definitely plays a big role and you will be seeing a lot of him for most of the series. That and he's got an awesome theme.

You must be referring to a different series because Seraph of the End is anything but mediocre, and it only increases in epic action and intense suspense even later. I hope it does up to the current 30th chapter and beyond. The arc is vital and begging to be animated.

Well, Omata's Rozen Maiden series at DEEN generally looked better than Kill la Kill. Plus this show has Meiko Hosoi as character designer, and her art is breathtaking.

I'm getting really tempted to watch Rozen Maiden.

Ayy, laptop guy status: ☐ rekt ☐ not rekt ☑ Tyrannosaurus rekt. Gon's new pal is Killua, with a name like that it probably won't take long before he bashes someones head in with that skateboard of his.
Hisoka's act of testing the fake examiner was clever and bold. He also, of course, throws cards which makes it even better. Paprika's clans eyes story was kinda spooky, I can buy everyones motivation but Killua - it's hard so I thought it'd be fun :^)

Well at least in Attack on Titan's case the premise and begining was actually good, this on the other hand not so much.

Attack on Titan also had some budget problems and the same could happen with Seraph.

While action is good, if you don't have a good story then what's the point. Anyways I'll still give it a chance, but I'm still cautious of it being bad.

Vol.1 cleared 10k and only 300 behind YYY. It'll probably surpass YYY. It sold 1683 volumes last week so it has insane legs.

Vol.2 is past 9k and still having stock issues so it'll end up past 10k.

As an adaptation? Titan kinda sucked. The manga has a grit to it in appearance (artistically it is fine, from a technique standpoint it is abysmal), the designs in the anime are much more clean, sterilized and smooth. The characters, the movements, even the blood was cleaner (if that makes sense), kind of a contrasting thing with the manga. The directions that is taken tended to inject emotion into EVERYTHING, which while making some things more memorable (sometimes in a bad way), it squashes what little semblances of subtlety the manga was trying to go for.
