New Nintendo 3DS & New Nintendo 3DS XL Launch Thread

So I went back to the place I bought it, and the clerks were sympathetic. We agreed that I'd come back in a week for the exchange so I can do another system transfer. I've got to say, think what you will of GAME in the UK as a corporate entity, but the staff at the Brighton store are incredibly nice.
There isn't a wireless switch on the unit, is there? Is it just a software toggle now?

for the last few weeks i have been thinking about buying a n3ds. i had a og 3ds at launch, but because i used it barely, i sold it and bought a vita instead, which i played endlessly.
there are some games i really want to try, but it seems like a big investment for a "try out".
i fear that i will again become bored by it and have to sell it

Depends when you sold it. If it was during the infamous drought of 2011, then absolutely.

So last week I was going through my regular search of preorders I've made and checking to see if my fund were in check. Turns out, February snuck up on me like a bandit as I've forgotten about my new 3DS Majora's Mask Edition preorder from Gamestop. And to top it all off, I didn't have the funds in my account to pay for it!
But I had a plan: I would change payment from my account to a card. I tried changing it via their site but no dice, I had to call. THE DREADED GAMESTOP CUSTOMER SERVICE! However, despite fighting through their thick accents, I was able to change my payment method and all was well, right? WRONG!
I receive an email saying my order was cancelled! How in the hell did that asshat screw up my order! I WOULD NOT BE DENIED WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE! Called again, waited even longer for a customer service rep. Turns out the idiot typed my info incorrectly and the system automatically cancelled my order. Thankfully the rep was able to make a new order and all was well.
I figured since I own the first Zelda LE 3DS and the second for A Link Between Worlds, I was "obligated" to own the newest Zelda 3DS. My order successfully shipped yesterday and I, for one, cannot wait to get my hands on it.

I did it in-store at GameStop with at least 10 other people. Somehow went smoothly.
You're transferring all the contents from the SD card wirelessly? I hope you didn't have much on it, because some have had to wait more than 10 hours for it to complete

Yep, few pages back I was complaining about this but apparently it's there by design. I hate it so much

No clue. According to Amazon.de, the Zelda models are #23 and #24 meaning EU is getting 12 more covers sometime.Does anyone know when the Goomba plates are available in the UK?
I would import if the postage costs weren't so high.

Didn't expect to see it in stock for store pick up at Best Buy so ordered one, figure my shipping order hasn't been sent yet and seeming more and more like it will be pretty slow. Will just return that one I guess.

Well these plates were also confirmed for Europe during the January direct, but with no date:
They would have to release these in a weird order to make Majora's Mask #23 and the Triforce plate #24 though.
Ah, okay. Yeah, I've never done tgat so I don't know how long that typically takes

Thanks for the info. Yeah it seems the numbering will be a bit off. Like Pokémon RS is listed as #9.
Edit: Also MH4 plates are not not numbered so 10 + 13 = 23. No. 24 makes sense in this context.

Best Buy still hasn't shipped my damn black XL. All of the other online retailers ship the shit the day before release so folks who picked next day will have it on release day. Welp, not Best Buy. This is the last time I order from them and expect to get the item day one.

Is the screen any better in terms of color quality?
Yeah, I already ordered the bundle from GS. I was just bitching about the priced compared to other places - even in other (all?) parts of Europe, it's less.

I had an XL, now a black N3DS, and I have to say the contrast on the N3DS is way better. Colors pop out more.

Just seen that video you linked. Mine seems a fair bit more noticeable than that. Luckily I have a second one coming today so I can compare the two. Will post about it later.
Haha exactly the same here, also receiving another unit in a few hours. I'm curious if that one is better.

Didn't the triforce plate come out at the same time as the MM one? That's the plate I want tbh and I'd probably never take it off.
Same here, paid for the quicker delivery and was expected to arrive today.

That's becaue it is a terrible color. I am so sick of red and blue in the US. Seriously Nintendo, get a little creative.
Also, not a single store had 3ds's in stock. Target only got 4, Meijer 3 and Walmart had 0. Great launch!!!

The OP in this thread says some games may not necessarily work with the circle pad pro on older 3DS models....can anyone confirm this? Has anyone tried Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and/or Majora's Mask to see if the circle pad pro works with these?

Just got my majoras mask 3ds. Waited in 5 degree temperatures for 3 hours to get this. Everybody showed up just minutes before opening. The scalper scum can suck a fat one.

The only game confirmed so far is Smash due to CPU limits. MH4 and MM both work with CPP.

I've had two regular XLs and neither had the side-to-side wiggle. They did all have wobbly screens when opened, though, but that's normal I guess. This... I've never seen this before.
Went to Target about ten minutes before they opened. They received 17 in and the line went really quickly. Got the black one I was hoping for.
Didn't pick up any games yet. Gonna try and pick up a microSD card at Best Buy before I go to work and then try to call Nintendo at work to get the system transfer started. Should be up and running by the time I'm off work tonight.
