Bought and built the Lego Custom Rally Van from the old Model Team line. This was actually a pretty fun build...doesn't have as many advanced building techniques considered the time it was built but I do like how you can steer it with the wheel on the top. Has some nice detail it as well...I think I'll try to get more sets from this line...well the affordable ones that is.

LEGO New York Toy Fair Press Release:

LEGO Systems Debuts Largest-Ever Collection of Building Sets to Inspire Builders of All Ages at American International Toy Fair
-More than 300 new building sets will inspire hands-on creative learning among builders of any ability and interest-

NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL TOY FAIR - LEGO Systems, Inc. debuts its largest collection of new building sets ever—313 new products—at the American International Toy Fair. Among the new offerings is LEGO® Classic - a collection of basic bricks and special elements designed to inspire and encourage open-ended and creative building fun. LEGO Systems will showcase new products in booth #1651 in Hall 3B of New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from February 14-17.

"Our primary goal is two-fold: to find ways to inspire children to either discover the engaging fun of building with LEGO bricks if they never have, or to continue building if they're already fans," said Soren Torp Laursen, president, LEGO Systems. "In addition to new sets from The LEGO Movie, LEGO Friends and Ninjago, we introduce LEGO Classic – the open-ended building fun that today's parents remember from their childhood – and new themes such as LEGO Elves and LEGO Pirates, while adding popular licenses like Scooby Doo and bringing back a tried and true fan favorite – BIONICLE. Children always surprise and delight us with their creations and what we've created for them will provide the inspiration, elements, characters and stories to make 2015 an exciting year of building fun."

Younger Builders (Ages 1 1/2+)
LEGO DUPLO®, with bricks two times the size of a classic LEGO brick, introduces children as young as 18 months to the world of LEGO building. Twenty-four new DUPLO sets include classic themes such as My First Farm, Airport and My First ABC, along with favorite licensed themes and characters including Disney Princess characters, Disney•Pixar's Cars and Disney's Jake and the Never Land Pirates. New theme additions this year include Disney's Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First. Sets range from $9.99 to $49.99.

LEGO Juniors is back and tailor-made for builders four and older who are starting to build with classic LEGO bricks, featuring modular bricks, such as walls and archways, plus step-by-step instructions to help young builders gain confidence as they get started. Iconic themes provide a relevant and fun age-appropriate building experience with sets including Pirate Treasure Hunt, Fire Suitcase, Tow Truck and Family House. Sets range from $9.99 to $29.99.

New LEGO Classic gives builders a "no instructions necessary" LEGO building experience punctuated by assorted basic bricks and specialty elements from the full LEGO color palette. Each set provides building inspiration that highlights the possibilities of open-ended building to inspire endless play. Five sets, ranging from $16.99 to $59.99, two of which come in reusable plastic storage bins, make it the perfect solution for gift-givers or for families looking to add to an existing LEGO collection or inspire their child to try building.

Creative Building (Ages 5+)

Sets range from $4.99 to $59.99.

Once you have the PFs installed, you just have to lift the loose runway plate that is over the bridge to access the power button, so it doesn't seem that much of an issue. You could probably even hook up an IR receiver to the motor, so you could use a remote control (and get some control over fan rotation speed).

The lights seemed completely unnecessary though, and the wiring for that actually gets in the way of the bridge (unless there is a more tidy way to do it than the host did), so I will probably leave that out entirely.

EDIT - I'm not sure if he built the fans correctly either. There seemed to be way too much friction in the rotation of those things. He probably over-tightened some parts on the axles.

I noticed clicking and stuttering with the fans. He tried to say it was the batteries but even when he replaced them they were still sticking. I may still get the power functions if nothing else then to have one on hand for down the road for maybe the Mixer or Ferris Wheel in a display. And yea the lights was a let down, that is what really made me go sour on the whole power functions thing.

About that NYTF press release, what is that $119.99 Marvel set?

That's a good question. Apparently the Jokerland set is supposed to be $120, but I wouldn't think they would mess that up and assign it to Marvel in a press release.

Hopefully we find out Saturday.

Apparently the TMNT license has moved over to MegaBloks, which is why we haven't seen any new/upcoming LEGO sets.

Seems like LEGO and Mega Bloks keep swapping IPs. I may have to pick up the Mega Blok TMNT figures if they come in super cheap sets. I'm a sucker for LEGO compatible minifigs. I'm still waiting for some standard Spongebob figures taht have their regular looks. I think Patrick is the only one I've seen with his standard look.

Booooooooo. It probably wasn't a good seller for them but that awful second wave being, well, awful on top of the TMNT movie sets being wasted space. Guess it was inevitable.

Oh goody, we may yet have a surprise set, exciting. Let the speculation begin.

Spider-Man related maybe? Can't see it being another Avengers set with there already being a quinjet and Tower set. X-men maybe, Asteroid M?

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
About when can we expect to start seeing leaked photos of that Ferrari F40? Almost forgot about that set, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm thinking the beginning of June is when they will reveal it.

Since it is a "direct" set, it won't be at trade shows or in retailer catalogs, so the chance of a leak is very slim.

Now that TMNT is back with Mega Bloks, this might be the right time to gaze upon this comparison photos of the Lego Minifigs and the figures produced the last time Mega Bloks had the Turtles license:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/vanjey/9585002520/

Bleah! I forgot about that one. Mega Bloks has "improved" since then. I think the new ones will be slightly better.

Klaw is confirmed for the film though.

Dude, a bit of spoiler.

It's a shame because the TMNT sets had potential. The Baxter Robot set was a great one and I would have loved to see more of them like it.

I've never liked the Turtle sets, so I'm not too disappointed that they are gone. I've got the four turtles already as well.

The turtle minifigs are awesome. Not all the sets were that bad, just most of them.

That is supposed to be on the level of Mini Cooper and VW Camper, right? If so, then that is an instant purchase.

Dude, a bit of spoiler.

They showed him in every trailer. People speculated if that was the character, and then stills released to some sites have character names underneath them. Marvel confirmed it a few weeks ago.

So apparently this underwater base is part of the same set as the Deep Sea Plane that I posted earlier today.

We'll find out for sure on Saturday, but I guess I'm buying that Plane.

Now we just need an officially licensed LEGO Abyss set to complete the underwater theme! Comes complete with insane Michael Biehn figure with authentic hull crushing action!

Does this pretty much confirm the quinjet is going to be $119.99? I was hoping it would be under $100. :(

I've been playing the second Lego Harry Potter game, and it's almost made me regret not buying more of the sets. I say 'almost', because looking at them now there's not really any I want (I've got Forbidden Forest which had Harry & Voldemort, and a couple of polybags). Might just try & Bricklink the minifigs.

I really liked the 2 HP games... After LOTR, they are probably the best Lego games i've played... oh wait i forgot about Lego Batman... and City Undercover which i am playing right now and looks to trump them all.

Nevermind ;)

Not that interested in this one tbh- hopefully the other sets are better.

Those exposed studs on the underside of the truck are horrible btw.

hmph. Agreed. I wonder if those are prelims? Seems like on city trucks they would use those side studs for studless tiles to make a gas tank or something.

I am thinking there is a play reason the studs are exposed. Maybe it extends out like a bed or something. Or you attach attacking dinosaurs to it or something.

And the wheel base is reallly wonky, which makes me think it might be a tilt suspension or something.

So, I ordered that Jedi defender class cruiser. It is not the coolest ship and all but 64 dollars is a pretty good price and I will bag and label the minifigs for future resale. Basically makes it a 30 dollar set over the long haul.

I've gone back and forth on that set so many times. At a decent price I would pull the trigger just because I like the minifigs.

Stop it! I'm on the fence too. I'd buy it at 50% off in a hearbeat, on the fence at 30% off. For an OOP though, below MSRP is good too and the minifigs go for about $30 for the 3 unique ones on Bricklink.

Finally finished my Milano stand. I prettied it up, and added figure stands on the front. I could make it a bit smoother, but I happy with it.

The stand from multiple angles to give others an idea of parts that I used and the angles needed for it. The trick is for the technic beams jutting out of it to rest against the inverted slopes on the underside of the ship.

It should rest on the front of the two most front ones on the underside, but it still works on the back two, but is not as stable and the ship isn't as high.

The full display.

I can easily add an extension behind Drax to give Groot a space, but I need to get the set with him still.
