IGN First: Bloodborne Story Trailer

Combining the narrative element into a gameplay mechanic? I would 100% love this^^ Has there been any hints of this in past interviews?

Not really, but it's been strongly hinted at. I'm fairly sure there is some mechanic in the game that at some point lets you, or forces you to become a monster. What isn't clear yet is whether or not you have control over that monster and how that impacts your game, or other players. But my guess is that it would penalize yourself, not others.

Again, this is just speculation on my behalf, but whatever the "monster" mechanic is, I'm fairly confident it will make sense within the game's setting, these are just my half-cooked ideas of what they could be.

But beside that, it just the same footage over and over again. I guess they don't want spoil us too much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bloodborne is not set amid a place where everyone has been dead for thousands of years, right?
I guess not since the plague that spreading in Yharnam is quite recent.
On the flip side, knowing that this world is decidedly not medieval in any way, will you guys miss knights, dragons, sorcerers (well, we'll get something like this) and the like?

Well, no, not really. There are just too many fantasy focused on medieval mythos. There are other period of history that criminally underused as setting for fantasy fiction

It's kind of funny that all of the bosses we've seen so far have been Humanoid. Or am I missing some?

I think the theme is that they are humans turned beast, but yeah. The Chalice dungeon boss was a giant dog, probably just a randomized enemy made bigger.

No, in the first leaked trailer there is....this being that resembles the Gaping Dragon but instead of bones and ribs, it have tentancles instead in place. Also there is a something similar to that in the forest, which looks quite different to me but I'm not sure

But the expect the majority would be humanoid since this game is about a plague human into something else.

The audio is hauntingly good in this trailer. If I didn't already own a PS4, Bloodborne would be the best reason to get one.

This must have been a beast of a project for FROM Soft.

Probably my GOTY.

How big are the spoilers in this video? I have watched the other IGN video's so far but am not sure about this one.
No spoilers if you have watched the other videos. In fact this video seems to be cut together clips of old footage with some new VO.

Yeah some glimpses of new thing here and there, but very brief and short compared to the same footage we've already seen before.

So nice to see that some people feel this way. From (or at least, Miyazaki in particular) pays attention to design and building a world concept above all else. That's where they excel, and they know it. I'm sure they will continue to capitalise on that strength, while simultaneously preparing themselves with the tools to realise these worlds in better ways.

This game is really going for this almost character action paced Dark souls gameplay with a focus on parrying with the firearms and transforming combos and dashing away, so to me even at the highest level of play I still wouldn't quite compare Dark Souls to DMC anything; But Bloodborne? It gives me those vibes from what I've seen, it looks like an intense, fast pace and deadly experience in a fascinating setting.

The funny thing about most of those movements is that they are all things I typically do in Character Action Games(Like DMC1,3,4,Bayonetta 1/2) dialed down a bit slower. Obviously, when comparing Bloodborne to Demon's Souls or Dark Souls you can kind of make those connections when describing the seemingly brisk pace of the game. I almost feel like this is Miyazaki taking the Dark Souls and Demon's Souls concepts and fusing them together with new ideas and old ideas with this incredible Lovecraftian, Victorian London esque steampunkish hammer horror Bram Stalker/Universal monster thing going on visually(and it looks stunning in the latest trailers). It really seems to take the mythology and history of that era and kind of twist it in a lot of ways, much like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were a very Japanese twist on the typical Western Fantasy title.

Also judging by that board it seems to indicate quite a few murals...

That must mean A LOT of bosses, and perhaps even bosses of different tiers which makes me think that
mural wall is also the hunter's target list aside from finding a cure
., several progression bosses and one final game state changing boss per area, along with hidden option fights and the usual kind of expected and perhaps unexpected thing to do.

I used to hate on Dark Souls so much but then I finally sat down and really learn the mechanics and played it and beat the game all the way up to the final boss battle and got sucked into the Artorias DLC and optional Areas. Just need to beat
Manus
and then beat the final boss. I recently watched a playthrough of DeS but I still want to play it. I'll probably finish Dark Souls up tomorrow.

That said I don't care that much about DeS right now, because Bloodborne is only a few weeks away.

I needed this game yesterday. T_T

I was never really that hype for this game but I don't know why watching this made my heart skip a beat. I don't know if I was scared or the action looked so intense. Regardless, this looks like another game I will need a companion with. I am not playing this alone. Hells nah

By jove, I think my desire for this game is erectly proportional to how glorious that trailer was. Well done, gentle sirs and madames, who crafted such fine work. Now how to wait till the 24th of March....

Christ, I get chills every time I see a new trailer for this game. Hopefully it will FINALLY make a PS4 worth having.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

MUST RESIST...Lawd, I can't take it. I have to watch it. No, I can do this. I want to go in blind.

(hears Maiden in Black voice is in video)

CLICK.

So "Welc.. ho.. goo.. hu. Wha it you des...?" might be the new "Let strength be granted so the world might be mended."
Sounds like the maiden.

I can't stand it anymore. It's all just so good. This is one game that I have absolutely no concerns about.

You and me both, brother. I don't care if the U.N. comes out and claims this to be the worst game in the world and gives it a 2.5 score and bans it in every country. I WILL be playing this game and it is going to consume me.

Wow. This looks so amazing! I really hope it lives up to expectations. But, since this is FROM software, and I enjoyed Dark Souls/2, I have faith so far.

Why can't it be end of March already! :(

I just want to say that even though they keep showing (for the most part) the same areas and enemies in these latest trailers, we really haven't seen anything yet. I invite you all to watch, or rewatch, the original Project Beast trailer that was supposed to be shown at TGS2013. There is stuff in this trailer that has NEVER been shown in any of the Bloodborne trailers or media. I have a feeling that it's all still in the game and we're in for a truly wild ride.

Wow.. this was amazing. I am scared of the difficulty (never played souls games) but I am so intrigued with this universe.... Day 1 for me.

I might be a noob and get my ass handed to me but my hunt definitely begins once its out.

I don't believe we've seen even 1/4 of what this game has to offer. It's pretty much all been the very starting area, and a SINGLE boss for god sakes.

We ain't seen shit yet. Just enough to wet our tongues.
