Grow Home |OT| Updated with New Content [18th Feb]

Couple of things that still bother me. Both gems and teleporters glow white at night. Should've made the teleporters stay red imo so there's an easier distinction between the two. The life seeds are green from the looks of things. Also it's weird how there are butterflies in the middle of the ocean sometimes.

I think I'm 97% and 7/8 now. I haven't found the last cave so I'm just hunting for things to scan right now in the hopes that I stumble across some.

edit. Can't find the black sheep. Think I've seen it before.

Anyone having trouble with hands not holding onto surfaces since the update? I'll be holding down the trigger and the hand will still just fall away from the surface.
Shame as I was absolutely lovely the game in the few hours I played last night, but now it's an infuriating mess.

Just turned off vsync as its the only thing I've changed since last night and BUD just fell off the red flower as I was growing it, holding down both hands as it went.

I'll have to try it again to see. I started/beat this a short while before the update myself. It would be a shame is the climbing was messed up because that was one of the best aspects of the game.

Game is amazing btw.

Got sad, as I put in about 45 minutes of time in with the game last night and a blue screen wiped out the entirety of my progress.

Game is easily the best thing I've played this year so far, which might not sound like a lot given that it's February but I think it'll make my top ten easily.

I would recommend this game to anyone.

Over 2 very relaxing play sessions last week I spend 4.5 hours with it and got all crystals and seeds.

At some point I will go back and try find all the flora / forna to put in the teleporter to.

Great price and a great experience. Wish more unique things like this would come out more often.

Surface of Me

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
Just picked this up and really enjoying it so far. Played about an hour or so. Art style is wonderful and the momentum to the movement is cool too. Great palette cleanser coming from Evolve.

Completed the "main game", with 100%crystals and 8 seeds, I'm at about 7.5 hours.

Fantastic game ! Yes it lacks some polish in the camera's behaviour, but I don't really give a crap, this is a very charming 3D platformer (3D PLATFORMER GUYS THEY EXIST OMG) that is also its very own thing, in one single map, it's just fucking lovely all around.

They've really nailed this loop of tension and danger of falling which is then replaced by mastery of environment and careless jumps and bounces once you get a new teleporter activated. And talking about mastery of the environment, taking a full tour up and down of your whole map using the upgrade you get when you catch the 100th crystal is a glorious moment :D

Traversal is such a joy once you've gotten the hang of the character's momentum and you bounce off leaves and properly manage your jetpack, trying to catch something as you go to stop yourself. Sometimes it reminds me of Crackdown. I'm SO GLAD they're supporting the game with a new update.

However, how do I trigger this new mission ?

I completed the 8 seeds things, and then after that MOM is stuck on the congratulations part, no news, nothing.

Everything is greyed out when I go to 'database' screen from pause menu too.

I'm stuck. I haven't been able to grow the main vine past 7/8. I'm up at the spaceship, and I can't seem to make any further progress. The main vine is past that big section of asteroids and just below the ship. What am I doing wrong?

edit: I was playing the game wrong. For some stupid reason, I didn't realize that the bright glowy rocks were the ones that caused growth. In the course of exploring, I'd managed to hit all but one of the glowing rocks by accident. I started over and beat the game in an hour or so.

I just started this today, all you need to do is find the plants and animals in the database section and drag them into a teleporter. It'll automatically scan them and fill them into the database.
Some of the larger objects like the cacti are tricky to scan though

B.U.D. just climbed into my heart, you guys.

I picked this up on a whim just to see how well the procedural animations worked, not believing the gameplay would really captivate me. Little did I know I was buying the best free-climbing/base-jumping/hang-gliding game ever. Moving through the environment is pure bliss. People who complain that it feels clumsy or janky must have a hard time wrapping their heads around controlling a character with inertia and momentum. They also must not be paying much attention to the placement of B.U.D.'s grabby little robot hands, which work superbly when not crossed up or attempting to reach beyond his forgivingly stretchy limits.

My only complaint is that it doesn't last longer. It took me only 2 hours to reach the very top of the map, and by the 4-hour mark I'd collected 75 crystals, grown the plant 75% of the way to the top, filled 75% of the data bank, activated all the teleporters, and discovered all the caves... and that's with a good deal of monkeying about and gliding around taking in the sights.

I can't think of another PC game that could benefit so greatly from a console release and some additional attention. I need more of this. Wake up, GAF. Y'all are sleeping on this delicious morsel.

I'd reeeaaally like that to happen. Seems like a fantastic game and along with Kerbal Space Program it's something that I really wanted to get a PS4 release but I didn't think either of them would but it showing up on Vote to Play is promising. It would be really good if this did join Kerbal on the PS4.

Doesn't even have to be a Plus game, would happily spend money on it.

Interesting. So it might actually happen, coming to consoles. That would be great indeed.

Not just "might", it's actually 100% confirmed that it's coming to PS4 at least.
It's a matter of days before we see the official announcement.

Good stuff. This game should be on everything with a controller. Lots of fun. Would really like to see more of that kind of vertical platforming in a more meatier game

Definitely. I thought the way they handled level progression would be a cool way to do away with the hub in a Banjo style game.

So has this been officially announced? I searched but apparently there is no Ubisoft conference at Gamescon (where i presumed it would be announced)?

Happy it's finally announced. It's coming out on 1 september, either as a PS+ title (depending on the voting) or as a normal digital release. Either way, i'll be getting this day one.

Wow this game is fun, relaxing, and has innovative gameplay. Nice little addition to my growing collection, and a surprisingly pleasant treat.

I beat the game in one single session yesterday night, had a blast playing it.
I loved the graphics (the art direction is seriously stunning), the pacing, the gameplay, the atmosphere... it's such a pretty little game, i really fell in love with it.
And i adored the fact that you can pretty much play at your own rhythm, taking your time and exploring as much as you want.
Plus the glide feels deliciously PilotWings-y in its own way, i just wished i could glide through new areas.
Seriously, do not miss this game, especially if you dig quirky games à la Katamari Damacy.

So I went back to the
torro
cave to get the "iiiiiiiinnnnn one!" trophy but the
torro
is gone for some reason. I guess I've been screwed out of that trophy?

edit: Nevermind, last time I tried was last night, I just logged back into the game and it was back.

I love this game. If the sequel is somehow procedurally generated so I can climb on new planets, I'll play forever.

I really love this game, and I'm happy that I voted for it on PS Plus V2P; but the framerate and screen-tearing are atrocious, to the point where I've seen people (including myself and my cousin) say that it gave them a headache.

For the time being, I've decided to leave the game alone until it gets a patch, which is a shame because I really enjoy the gameplay.

I understand the desire for replayability but I actually appreciate that the world was designed by hand and hope that they use the same method for the sequel. It makes the game closer to something like Banjo-Kazooie. Hopefully the world feels even more intricate and filled with secrets the next time around.

If this is a dumb question you are all permitted to cyber bully me, but since the seed-growing controls are terrible I got nowhere near the planets I'm supposed to connect to and don't have any more seeds to grow in the area. I'm on the 4th teleporter. Am I screwed?

I believe the game always spawns more from the branches you've already grown. I thought I was screwed, too, until I figured out where it was spawning new seeds and was able to slowly inch my way up.

Jesus, is it me or the PS4 version is terrible? I get it's Unity but damn. No AA, terrible tearing, terrible framerate. I got it with Plus but I uninstalled it after 5 minutes. I'll get it on Steam for a few bucks I guess, because the game looks really really promising.

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.

Yep, it felt unplayable to me.

On the PC version the AA issues may not be the same, but there are no options to change or improve them in game, so you have to force it in the control panel. Pretty much looks like there is barely any AA, but there don't seem to be any other issues with performance / tearing

Surprised they haven't patched it yet. Even a 30fps cap would be preferable to the current performance.

I downloaded a patch for this game on PS4 and the update mentions "reducing of screen tearing". I haven't tried it out yet but i thought it was worth mentioning here anyway.

Has anyone tried the PS4 version post-patch yet? I decided to wait for the patch due to all the bad word of mouth, so I was wondering if there were impressions yet.

EDIT - I tried it last night, and I didn't see any tearing at all. I did not try it before the patch so I don't know how bad it was, but I didn't notice any problem.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
How is this game not getting more love here GAF???

Amazing unwind game. Hilarious trophies and writing . Sweet synth-y soundtrack.

For shame. One the best Indies this year. Feels almost criminal I got it free on PS+

I loved it - and if they released some new levels i'd gladly pay double. With the current content, it's easy to tap out after a couple of hours.
