How do I keep my ham from getting all wet and slimy?

My salami and my cheese keeps for a good, long while. I guess because salami is dried and cheese is cheese. But no matter what I do my ham gets all wet and slimy. I flatten out the bag, get all the air out, but I still end up never finishing an order because it gets all wet and slimy before I can do so. Is my only option to buy better quality ham? Would that even help?

that happens to all cooked meats due to age. turkey, ham, bacon, etc.

best is to buy less more frequently.

also, do not eat it when its turns wet and slimy.

Eat them faster or put them in airtight bags with saran wrap between slices in the freezer and thaw as needed. Those cuts aren't intended to be stored for long unless frozen.

Premake all your sandwiches entirely, then bag them and freeze them. Throw them in your lunch bag or just set them in a fridge if you don't have one, they'll thaw by lunch time on their own.

Get smoked ham, not boiled ham.

Boiled ham has tons of moisture. That's the slimy and wet stuff.

You're welcome.

that's her way to telling you to jam it in man

That sounded dirty.

Smart thinking. But is smoked ham appreciably more expensive?

Depends. Do you get your ham from a deli case sliced by a butcher per pound?

Or do you get the stuff in plastic a la Oscar Meyer?

I really can't stand the prepackaged stuff personally.

Wet and slimy = Bacteria

I do not keep jam more than few days once oppened. There is a kind of jam called JAMON SERRANO , it last for weeks even out of the fridge

I have this problem with lettuce. It gets all slimy very quickly, especially shredded lettuce. It ends up being such a waste.

Big spender huh.

Not really. I don't notice the price difference. On the big board they're all the same price roughly, which chicken being the cheapest.

You can get very expensive smoked artisanal hams, but that's not what I'm talking about. Those are more for the the holidays. I'm just talking about the butcher deli case.
