Next Level Games working on a Wii U game...?

False. The entire original animation team is still there (as of Tropical Freeze), as is one of the original lead artists.

Vince Joly is still there? Then I stand corrected, must have mixed him up with Tom Ivey as I thought he moved to Armature Studio during the TF development.

Edit: Oh, he's been promoted to Creative Lead.

Sounds like Punch-Out!! 2?
Please be Punch-Out!! 2

Gabby Jay having Glass Joe as trainer, in fact, the only thig I would like to be imported from Super Punch-Out!! is the trainer mechanic.
Also some boxer that is italian and sings opera while he fights.

Each character having their own trainer would be pretty awesome.

Also, your Italian guy reminds me of this:

Anyway, for a Punch-Out!! 2, I'd like...

Gabby Jay
King Hippo
Bald Bull
Super Macho Man
Mr. Sandman
Piston Hurricane
Mad Clown
Bear Hugger
Aran Ryan
Disco Kid
Masked Muscle
Nick Bruiser
Rick Bruiser
Heike Kagero
Dragon Chan
Bob Charlie
Narcis Prince
Hoy Quarlow
Mario
Captain Falcon
Samus Aran
Hitmonchan

If it's Metroid, I hope the concept art from last year isn't how Samus will look. It looked horrible in my opinion. :/

Next Level did an amazing job with Punch Out and I would love another one, and they did a great job with Luigi's Manson. Whatever their next project is I'm sure I'll be interested given their history.

Maybe they can do another classic revival like Ice Climber or Sheriff.

Wii U doesn't have any Mario sports titles so it seems like it would be due for one, but with all the games already coming out this year (10 confirmed so far), it sounds like whatever Next Level is working on won't be ready until next year along with other games like a console port of Pokken Tournament and hopefully Retro Studio's next project.

I wonder if Next Level is the outsourced developer working on Star Fox. I'd like to see them do a new Punch Out or something else, maybe a cross over-based title.

we dont need a new punch-out
why would we need one? what else can be done that hasnt been done in punch-out wii?

we also dont need a new 2d mario

I really hope so! Or a re-imagining of an old IP in a completely new way, like what Kid Icarus Uprising did

Given their skill with animation, a reimagining of Nazo no Murasamejou with visual similarities to Okami would be great to see. If you look at Little Mac's shared history with Takamaru as a Smash Bros. assist trophy and Captain Rainbow guest and squint, it even starts to look quasi-plausible.

If it's a new IP, I'm hoping it'll either be an action adventure or RPG, something with a decent narrative and characters, since the WiiU's rather lacking on that front. I mean sure, Zeldas straddling both those genres admittedly, but that's just one game, and damn it, I'm greedy!

If it's an established franchise, I want a new Mario Strikers.

But why fix what's not broken? Retro has Metroid down to a science, it's best not to mess with a winning formula (especially after Other M). Let Next Level Games do that 3DS Metroid game they wanted to make, sure, but the Wii U game should be left to Retro Studios.

I understand what you mean, but at the same time hewing too closely to the idea of not giving what's broken leads to repetition and stale games. There have already new. Three Metroid Prime games, I think the franchise could do with something entirely different. As well, IIRC most of the peeps who made Metroid Prine are no longer at Retro.

I want a 2D Metroid for Wii U. But I think Nintendo sees 3DS as the right place for 2D games, these days (DKC notwithstanding). It's a shame, because consoles are capable of stunning 2D graphics.

but

they just released a 2D game like two weeks ago on Wii U

and there's another scheduled for later this year

and their big holiday title was one

what?

When has Next Level made anything akin to what you're describing?

I'm just going by Nintendo games on Wii U trends

I have no idea who Next level are or what they have ever made. Didn't Intelligent Systems get stuck making that shit Game and Wario instead of something actually good for Wii U? or was that a different team?

Edit: Oh, he's been promoted to Creative Lead.

Mr. Handsome (Vince) came in as an Animator for MP2, was promoted to Art Director for DKCR, and is now Creative Director. Tom did leave towards the end of TF. He was the last designer left from either of the first two Prime games. The majority of their designers now are ones that were hired on for Corruption, but there are plenty of artists, animators, and engineers from the early days still there.

EAD is making that one.

Yes, but Miyamoto said to speed up the game's development, Nintendo was looking for a third party studio to assist them with on it.

Miyamoto also mentioned last year that we should expect more small-scale spin-off titles for release this year.

Pretty much the Mario Strikers franchise.

May I recommend Pushmo World?

Oh, ok. Carry on.

Have they ever worked on a console that's not Nintendo's?

NHL Hitz Pro (GCN,Xbox,PS2)
Spider-Man: Friend or Foe (Wii, 360, PS3)
Ticket Ride (XBL)
Captain America: Super Soldier (360, PS3)
ClockWork (cancelled on all platforms)

As of January 2014, they've decided to only work with Nintendo from now on because Nintendo actually gives them the freedom other publishers do not to actually work on a game and make them good. And Nintendo has continued to support them by giving them better IPs to work with.

I'm sort of hoping it's not Mario Strikers or Punch-Out.

I can see why it would be Mario Strikers (due to lack of soccer games on the Wii U) but I struggle to see what they could do to really improve Punch-Out. A simple resolution upgrade is all the Wii version would really need (they could do that in a couple of months)...

Punch-Out!! can come once every console cycle and be fresh enough. New boxers, new patterns, new modes, better graphics. You know, like a sequel.

I would be down with a new Punch-Out!! that has a whole new cast of boxers, with Little Mac in the role of the boxing coach and he is training a shrimpy female boxer to rise to the top.

Making a Punch-Out!! game without Bald Bull is like making a Super Mario Bros. game without Goombas. There can be new boxers and the series legends like Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman, and Super Macho Man. They ARE Punch-Out!!.

Praise Jesus. Punch Out would be so lame

This post is exceeding the speed of lame.

I don't really need another Punch-Out. I've got in on my Wii U already.

I don't neen another *insert any sequel here*. I've got it on my *platform with franchise* already.

I want both, but since you don't know how a sequel can improve things then they better just retire those IPs.

I also hope it's Strikers 3 or a new IP finally. Punch-Out feels most suited for a smaller 2nd Wii U game, not their debut game after all this time.

In recent years? They made that Arkham-clone Captain America game. They were also working on a game called Clockwerk that got canned.

Yep. They did the Captain America game on PS3/360.

Of course, their best and most successful games have been Nintendo ones and thus they aim solely to work with Nintendo now.

Punch-Out!! is a bigger series than Strikers.
