Infamous, Sunset Overdrive, Driveclub

but yeah Wii U decimates that stuff

I only have a PS4, and played both Infamous and Driveclub. Neither was a good represantation of what I expected "next gen" games to be aside from graphics in my opinion. I didn't really care for the Soul's series, but something about BB'S setting and beasts just looks cool. Very excited.

Shiieeet, early embargo for reviews?
I guess we don't need to worry about another fallout like Ubisoft and its 11AM PST embargo.

Sony must be very confident in BB because 9 days early of bad presses=DOA.

As if ubisoft can be compared to from software. One is a corporation that uses 10 studios simultaneously for one game, the other does what the fuck ever they want.

Enemies don't have drops in this? How do you get new weapons and armor then?

Rarely if ever we get drop from normal enemies.
Only selected 'mini-boss' mob drops decent stuff while majority of the time, the normal mob drops stupid items.

I don't see what the big deal is since we all know we will need to find dead corpses/orbs laying around for full set of armor or weapon.

oh i cant wait for this game anymore, the worst part is that my friend will not be able to play with me since he does not have a PS4 ;/, and for some reason my brother hates the Soul series, i will have to play alone, no co-op for me.

Obviously what this generation needed was an actual polished game, that was not rushed, even if Bloodborne is not much different from Souls, you can tell they did a good work,

What did you expect next-gen would bring to the table? With the technical specifications of the consoles provided and graphics not being considered, how would you expect gameplay to improve when compared to last-gen? Intuitive use of the touchpad? The share button?

Hey i guess you can tell it was made in japan from the design. Most color schemes are stylized for covers.

I'm not talking about the colors, I mean everything else. It seems like a bizarre juxtaposition of trying to be equal parts ramshackle and "classy."

Why i can see where you're coming from but you should see the monster design. High octane Lovecraft nightmare creatures. The weapons are curved and all but they are awesome in action. How many of the weapons have you seen or more likely how much of the coverage have you seen?

"More coherent than Dark Souls"

Is this a quote from the article?

I'm not sure how to take that. Dark Souls struck a fine balance of varying environments that all made sense next to each other (as opposed to a volcano on top of a windmill), this reads like they might have scaled back on the variety of environments to cater for a more 'realistic' city.

good ol' next-gen gameplay

I see they raised the price of the mag...again.

It's been at five pounds for ages, it's not like they raise it every couple of months. It's the price of a decent sandwich and drink for the best writing in the industry, as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I'm subscriber so I only pay £3.60 an issue = bargain.

Good. Dark Souls is a fantastic game, but several areas were clearly unfinished. See: Lost Izalith.

where did get that O.0

Coherent in the sense that every area has overall the same theme?

In terms of the level design. They specifically compare it to Dark Souls. They say how the latter half Dark Souls lost some of that coherency, but in Bloodborne the design is intricate throughout.

"There is a moment in Dark Souls that we will never forget: Down in the depths picking up an item from a corpse and a slime dropping on to our head. We spent the rest of the level panning the camera for unseen threats. No longer scared of dying, but of moving. Imagine a whole game like that."

If the entire game is as interconnected as the first half of Dark Souls (Undead Burg, Darkroot Garden/Basin, Blighttown, etc.), oh man...

>only 40 hours in
>no end in sight, they said
>judging Bloodborne design even though they haven't seen the latter half

I'm joking btw.

Fuck me

"Gone is the dark fantasy, the faded crumbled majesty of the Souls series. Bloodborne is filthy, grisly, and very, very scary. It's a horror game."

SHIT

Also people worried about lamplight placements and too many of them.

"....Dark Souls II's overfriendly abundance of bonfires is a thing of the past. Like Demon's souls the rewards of powering through an area is a shortcut back to a latern rather than a new one."

Did you think Dark Souls 2 was too easy? Perhaps you complained that, after three games in a similar vein, FromSoftware's template had become so familiar it had grown straightforward. Bosses fell at the first attempt and areas were cleared without need to trouble your stock of Human Effigies, blind corners holding no fear as you set about filling up the warp-selection screen with one generously placed bonfire after another. Does that sound familiar? If it does, thanks a bunch. This is all your fault.

So those games don't count because they merely look good, but you're excited for Bloodborne because it looks good? :p

I'll prepare you - next gen gameplay is not a thing, and Bloodborne won't have it.

The whole piece is really well written and did a good job at getting me pumped for the game, but it does read like a bit of an inflated and aggrandizing promo piece, which was surprising to me considering Edge's usual editorial line and scrutiny. :-o
