Guys calling it now. This is GOTG if what Edge is saying here holds up.

Crazy thing is they havent even commented on the Chalice Dungeons and the online component....

"There is a moment in Dark Souls that we will never forget: Down in the depths picking up an item from a corpse and a slime dropping on to our head. We spent the rest of the level panning the camera for unseen threats. No longer scared of dying, but of moving. Imagine a whole game like that."

We've already seen gameplay footage which shows some of the game is not as menacingly punishing as that part.

I wouldn't be endorsing that particular segment but that's just me.

Loving this interview with Jun Yoshino.

Regarding game design, how free will the player be to explore different areas in the game? Can we go straight to a bigger challenge or will the game push us to one direction at a time?

"It’s quite interesting. It’s like a hybrid of Demon and Dark Souls. FromSoftware decided to mix those two together. I think it works out really nicely. You still have this kind of refuge, this central area you can always retreat back to. But the game world itself is more like Dark Souls, because in Bloodborne it’s all linked together as well. Once you venture out, you can effectively go anywhere you want."

"Gone is the dark fantasy, the faded crumbled majesty of the Souls series. Bloodborne is filthy, grisly, and very, very scary. It's a horror game."

SHIT

"Bloodborne is Hidetaka Miyazaki's brutal riposte to the section of his playerbase that thinks it has seen it all before"

When we do pick up a shield ten or so hours into Bloodborne, the item description makes FromSoftware's feelings on the matter perfectly clear. "Shields are nice," it reads, "but not if they engender passivity." We have yet to so much as equip it.

Nice.

The fact that enemies don't drop weapons/armor anymore and the quote about Edge only finding half-a-dozen weapons in their 40 hours worries me. RIP Fashion Souls.

"...it is a fantastically well realised game. It should be noted, however, that although the Xbox One and PC versions run at a lesser resolution (0p) it in no way impacts on the amount of fun or enjoyment that can be had on those versions. In fact, some may feel that the higher resolution of the PS4 version adds a level of aliasing not present in the other two."

"...it fares particularly well although, curiously, the omission of AF on the PS4 version, not a noticeable problem on the other versions, seems to be further evidence of a serious ongoing problem with that particular console (and the people who own it)."

Fashion Souls is dead. Long live Fashionborne. Fashion Souls was never really about weapon choices anyway.

It's kind of refreshing really after all that collect-a-thon shit that was in Dark 2! I don't mind them taking a quality over quantity approach here.

Very excited even! This makes finding items something to look forward to again! I got bored real quick in Dark 2, because it just had too much of garbage.

They seem to indicate that the replay value in BB comes from content rather than trying different builds/finding weapons you missed.

Which I think is a good change. I'll take it. Often times when I would play through Souls again, I would end up thinking "well that was fun...but I didn't see anything new this time...", so this sounds amazing.

Fuck that, pre-order cancelled.

I can kinda understand the first part but arnt like all weapons in Bloodborne transformable?
you're essentially playing with two weapon in one hand and a gun in the other.

Yup a negative. If you can call it that will probably be the lessened weapon variety. They say theyve only found 6 through their 40hours.(Have probably missed a few tbh).

They do however go on to say that the customization options for trick weapons are greater than the Souls games.

Yeah, I'd much rather have quality over quantity in regards to gear and weaponry. I often found in DS2 that I was carrying a huge amount of weapons, none of which were very unique or interesting. Same goes for equipment.

I love Pokken!
Bloodstone Shards
plays the role of Titanite, used to upgrade weapons
Coldblood
plays the role of consumable Souls.

Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets have a maximum capacity but
any surplus pickups are automatically sent to a storage box back at Hunter's Dream. Die and your stocks will be topped up when you respawn.

Yeah with dark souls I was often locked into playing one style the whole game.It is pointless to get a ton of new weapons you will never use.

Totally on point. Having less, but more interesting items is very exciting to me.

If there are fewer weapons and armor but they're all viable, that's an okay trade for me. I'll miss running into cosplay builds online though.

Huh?

Anyway, won't get my digital issue until tomorrow but I'm excited to dig in. Bloodborne looks like the first interesting game between the PS4 and XB1.
