PLEASE LET THIS BE ON THE NEXT UPDATE. For the love of god lemme see my trophies offline. I'm not the always online kind of player and this bugs the hell out of me. And it doesn't even make sense.

Yeah, how the fuck can't we see our trophies while being offline? Thats my most requested Thing for future Firmware updates for sure.

Is this live? I switched out of destiny to Netflix before I left and ask for confimation that I wanted Destiny to be suspended

Usually it says it will close or am I nuts?

That's the one thing I really don't like. There is enough clutter already on the app bar. Having it in the system bar was great.

Completely agree.
I don't think of the Store as an "app". It's more of a system feature, so it belongs on top.

Media apps have always put games in suspended mode. This will allow an app to stay suspended when the console is in rest mode.

Completely agree.

I wouldn't mind it if they put all "system" apps over there. Store, Capture Gallery, USB Music Player, etc. All under their own category.

The App bar should have are games and apps. All the other system stuff should be at the top. This is a step back.

Or they could solve all of this by letting us create folders and arrange all app/games/features however we wanted.

So I spent a few minutes trying Plex out tonight....and it pretty much is still how I remember it.

When browsing your library "By Folder", you are not in fact getting access to your files as they are on your harddrive but rather what they are as interpreted by the DB scanner. This, at least on my setup, produces plenty of garbage.

Currently, Plex has identified several different shows in separate folders as "Winter with Rebecca Gibney", something I have never heard of before. Attempting to play anything in any of those folders results in a random selection of any of the files mistakenly tagged as this show. Also, shows or episodes that are not tagged do not, in fact show up.

I'm sure I could go in and piece by piece fix the library so that it is parsed correctly, but I don't have the time. A simple DLNA interface would be fine enough, but Plex still doesn't have one.

Plex works great if you use it with SABnzbd and Sickbeard, but it's awful for everything else. I make a 'Home movie' folder so it picks everything up without metadata (and picks a crappy screen grab from the file) for odd episodes I want to watch. I tried to get it to catalogue my classic Dr Who collection and it made a right mess of it.

You can fix incorrect matches yourself, or is that too much?

In short, yes. While I could see myself going forward, when going through the motions of adding a new show making sure I stick to a format, but to go back and rearrange/fix for all the existing library contents is just not my idea of a fun weekend.

When you added your library, did you pick "Home Videos"? That's probably what you want, since it won't try to tag them from a website.

Edit: Just tried this (from the PS4 browser no less), added a folder from my PC as a Home Videos library. It added the files in it with the filenames as titles, and it even shows up in the dedicated app.

When adding the library folders I said "TV Shows" because, well most of them are TV shows. I'll try "Home Movies" and see how that goes.

Yeah, I should have specified. Home Movies is the way to go for unfiltered folder view.

It kind of makes sense. Rather than having sales and promotions under the "What's New" tab, the store can have its own "what's new" section. That way the existing one stays for streams and social content.

That's what I thought too. Makes alot more sense this way.

Yeah, thing is, the patent troll was able to hit Samsung despite Samsung using EDR.

It would help if you could read the article that I had linked.
I did. My point is that patent troll can't be the reason for not supporting BT headsets because Sony is already using BT that would fall under that patent for the controllers.

The title of the show should at least be correct, the episode numbers are more of a pain typically. Plex uses thetvdb.com for TV shows, just make sure the folder name for the show agrees with what that site has. If thetvdb.com has your show and Plex still isn't getting the right one, there's a fix incorrect match option. If thetvdb doesn't have your show, you can edit the info for the show in Plex.

Home Movies option should get you going for now, and you can move stuff into separate movie and TV show folders as you organize them. Because you're right, if you have a large library it will be an ongoing thing for a while.

What will happen with games like DAI where you are logged into your Origins account at the same time? Will I stay logged in?

Moving the store icon down does at least free up more room for the notifications at the top. Those are usually pretty long. Now you can read more of them without them having to scroll like a marquee.

This is only if you go direct to rest mode for within a game, right? If you were on the dashboard when you did it, you return to the dashboard? I actually don't think I'd like going straight back into the game - what if the PS4 resumes quicker than my TV turns on? I could be dead by the time I see anything. I'd prefer it to resume to the dash and then I can press X to continue instantly.

Or at least resume paused

Yes...

The start up behavior is all dependent on the user login settings (automatic login) and how the game is put into rest mode... Triggering rest mode from the main system screen will show the main system screen while triggering Rest mode from the quick access menu (Hold down PS Button) will return to the game/app (AFAIK it works for Netflix; other apps maybe?) directly...

If automatic login is not set to an account the typical "who's logging in" screen will appear before completely returning to whatever is running.

EDIT:
- looks like you can quickly toggle the button mapping. so it will be easy to swap for at least one game
- toggle the limit of items on the dashboard
- High Contrast and Closed Captions added to Accessibility menu
- Now Playing (what your friends are playing/doing) added to the What's New feed

Some Xbone games kick player out to the main game screen after they are placed into suspend mode [usually always-online games such as Destiny].

I don't think that DAI should make problems like that.

I hope somebody checks the energy consumption with suspend&resume.

Not that they just turn off the HDMI out and the fan and call it "rest mode" :D

Well, to some of the responses I see, no matter how you look at this and I was actually bitchin' at the Remote Play thing yesterday myself, the 60 FPS can only be a good thing overall 'cause this means rigth off the bat that more bandwidth and per what I'm reading FULL network bandwidth will be allocated to the stream. PS TV and PSV are about to get used again IF this actually works properly.

There's already an option to output to headphones - you can set it to chat only - so your surround system is doing it's thing.

A lot of the over the ear headsets really muffle outside sound though. So that's still not ideal.

Copying over from the other thread because this one is actually alive.

Watching this video https://vid.me/z5Mm around the [edit] 5:50 [/edit] mark shows the settings for 60fps shareplay. It mentions that in order to enable 60fps , the ps4 will no longer record your gameplay.

(It doesn't bother me, I just thought it was interesting).

So, do you think they're hitting the limits of what the ARM chip can encode?

That starts up very quick. I wonder if general start up from rest has sped up as well.

Copying over from the other thread because this one is actually alive.

It would be a lot to ask to output a 60fps feed while also recording a 30fps video at the same time, so yeah that's probably pushing it too far. Says it only disables recording while Shareplay is active though.

That's because Plex is a media server, and not a file browser. It indexes and serves your media to a pletoria of devices through Plex Apps. But the apps themselves will never have a 'browse folder and select file' interface, they just talk to the mediaserver. So yeah, you need to wait for a dedicated DLNA browser/client, or start using the preferred naming conventions for Plex. I believe PMS is DLNA compliant tho; so a DLNA client should be able to see the files served by PMS.

Is bluetooth headset support even on their radar? I really, really hate the pack-in mic and have a surround sound system, so these headphone mics don't work for me.

i use these because, like you, I have a surround setup. it has a slotted cup so external sound will not be muffled. it's pretty much like the old school x360 pack in

Plex has a Home Videos option for a library that essentially has a 'browser folder and select file' interface, and it works with the dedicated PS4 app.

Changing a library so it can be scraped can take a while, so it'd be a good intermediate step for people new to Plex while they rename stuff over time. The Home Videos option is also good for stuff that will just never scrape.

Ah, cool. Funny, I use Plex almost daily and I never saw that Home Videos option, heh. You learn something every day :p But still, PMS will be serving/transcoding.

It looks like the suspend/resume puts the game right underneath the main system bar at the top when its running. I was hoping it would look and behave more like the Vita suspend/resume.

Think it works like channel info that shows up on (top of) your TV screen for a few seconds before defaulting to full screen. Gives you a quick overview if you have messages or anything like that. Quite useful.
