Nintendo teases. Masks for Zelda WiiU? Another Majora style game? What could this be?

To help fill the potentially bland sidequest quota of Zelda U's vast open world structure we'll be making mask deliveries for the mask salesman, ultimate reward after 20 exciting runs to a marker will be the returning mask of truth useful for a few gossip stones chatting about pieces of heart you don't really need outside of completionists sake.

A Majora's Mask sequel sounds like a logical idea for the next handheld title. It gives them a foundation to use but introduce a new setting, villain, and creature races to base the masks powers on.

Would making a HD remaster of the 3DS remakes of OOT and MM for the Wii U be possible with little effort? I know it's basically an impossibility, from my understanding, to do so with the original N64 assets, but could it be done with those versions with relative low effort now?

The Happy Mask Salesman is clearly some sort of weirdo demon and the last two console games had weirdo demons, so I would not be shocked if he reappears.

They wouldn't dare structure a game like majora's again. They tried to make it more casual friendly for the 3ds remake and it was still too much for people.

He can cameo, but it won't mean anything.

Its not casualized. The gameplay is improved and the gamedesign is better, but its not easier.

From the sound of it, MM has been in development pretty much alongside Zelda Wii U. Wouldn't be surprised if it reminded Aonuma etc of fondness for the character/masks, and we end up seeing HMS in a capacity similar to what OoT had.

People with Nintendo Network IDs should read the full Miiting at the source, and maybe Yeah! the specific reply post that people are basing this thread's discussion on if they want to show support.

Also, for those who don't give a damn about any of that, here's an image that has all of the interview in it (from NintendoEverything): http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/11/1426274930-miiverse-interview.jpg

Stupid people with stupid comments. Everyone should be clamoring for the HMS to be in Zelda WiiU in the role of giving Link masks with powers and transformations, not as a fucking cameo.
Also, NPCs with schedules, but that one is pretty much a given.

I could see it, actually. Despite being a traveling salesman you never quite bump into him in OoT or MM in that context: in the middle of his travels.

I imagine he could be a sort of Beedle-type guy in Zelda U (except on land, of course); where you sometimes bump into him on the map, walking around the fields or having set up shop near towns. Depending on your progress in the game, location (or even time of day!) he'd sell you different kinds of masks. The fact that he sometimes would appear to magically be at several locations at once, or at least move between places oddly quick, would add to his mysterious nature and general weirdness.

I for one would gladly welcome the return of masks, though maybe more in the form of side items than part of the game's main plot.

Me too. This kind of thing could really spice up playing in the overworld if you could use various masks to just play around in some weird way.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
I had a feeling this would happens. Nintendo usually remasters Zelda games for specific reasons.

I pray to Jesus and Buddha this is going to be very happy news. And I hope it's not a "mask sidequest" in the capacity OoT made it.

Might just be a fun little side reference or NPC without being a major pillar of gameplay mechanics.

This, i doubt its going to be something significant, maybe a sidequest or special items or minor characters type of thing, Zelda U is certainly not going to use masks as a big gameplay mechanic again.

A third HoT game seems possible though, but still. dont expect a new masks focused game yet.

They aren't ever going to make Majoras mask 2 or have masks as the main focus again and they shouldn't. But the should totally bring the happy mask salesman back is some way.

There is that line from Miyamoto about Zelda U having an abundance of NPCs and NPC sidequests. Even if the game is not literally anything like Majora's Mask, a complex NPC ecosystem would be the perfect place for Happy Mask Salesman to return.

A bunny hood would be nice and helpful for traversal in Zelda U with its expansive world.
I think we'll see things like Masks replace Link's hood in Zelda U. Maybe that's why he's not wearing his hat.
I'd love to see the side quests you do allow you to obtain different masks/clothing which all have slightly different abilities or just provide a nice cosmetic change.
