Anyone given up potato chips completely?

Bulked up a bit and now trying to go back to my original weight. I use to eat like half a bag of chips a day (I know). Been almost a week now without any chips and my head definitely feels a clearer, despite being on a diet. My aches aren't as pronounced either.

I don't keep chips in the house but if I go to subway, I'm getting a bag of chips. My wife and I don't keep junky snack food or Soda/juice in the house at all.

I eat some chips once in a blue moon but for the most part I avoid them these days. Haven't really missed them.
Same. I have them like twice a year maybe. They're good when I do, but there's no craving for them the rest of the time. Head feels much clearer since leaving junk food behind.

LOL @ everyone getting on Vigilant Walrus. To the OP, Acne will definitely decrease/clear up as you stop your intake of chips. Nothing wrong with eating them every once in a while though.

I got all that junk food shite outta my system after college and learning to eat healthy.

The only time I have potato chips/crisps are in parties and gatherings that have them. I never, ever buy bags like I did as a kid.

I can't quit Honey Mustard and Onion pretzels because I drink on the weekends and, well, they're just heavenly.

Yes because they are greasy and fattening. Yet I like to have something like that to snack on so I eat pretzels now mostly. Generally though I prefer corn chips to potato chips. Doritos are awesome.

Pretty much. I only buy them if I'm out.

Get rice crackers or something similar if you want something crunchy.

Quite some time ago. I hardly ever eat chips now unless it's with salsa at a restaurant, or some sort of chips from a party. I do like the lightly salted ones though, since they're not quite as crazy with the salt and grease as normal chips.

An individual bag of chips is like 200 calories, which is hardly unreasonable and I doubt pretzels are much better.

I won't quit them because I pretty much never eat them BTW.

Half a bag a day? How big were these bags? I don't really eat any here in the States since I prefer the flavors you can get in Europe. Plus, everything comes in a jumbo bag.

For the past few years I've rarely eaten them. Really only on special occasions like having company over. I don't usually ever crave them (sweets on the other hand...), but when I do start eating them I have trouble stopping. Better off without them.

You could just eat them more sparingly than a bag a day you know.

3-10 serving bags.

There are three things I don't think I could ever give up -

Popcorn
French Fries
Potato Chips

Salty, crunchy, buttery - I can't live without.

No. >.>

Pizza flavored anything is horrible.

Well I concern myself more with fat than with calories. It works for me. Before this thread breaks down into a "that's not the right way to eat" debate, I'll just repeat it works for me; people should eat however they want. Also, all things in moderation. It's not like I never eat chips. I'll eat some occasionally. Tend to avoid big bags though because I hit the bottom faster than I would like.

I don't eat chips all that often myself. But when I go in, I go IN. Like big costco/family sized bags to myself in one sitting kind of in. No regrets, and cravings are killed in one big shot.

How big was your bag of chips?

50g seems fine to me maybe not every day but every few days. 200g bag every day is way too much. All in moderation. I eat 1 or 2 75g bags a week plus 1 McDonald's/ kfc/ Burger King etc a week

The only food or drink that causes me aches or makes my head fuzzy is too much alcohol. It seems odd to me that eliminating one food item from your diet could make that big a difference unless you are allergic to it.

I used to love chips. I'd eat them all day every day. Doritos, chili cheese fritos, crinkle cuts, classic lays, anything.

As far as quitting, dunno what to say. I just stopped buying them and eating them. Heck, I'll buy a bag once in awhile and it sort of just sits there for months as I slowly pick at it.
