What arcane buff?

Ah. I guess most people wouldnt think about it.
I'll spoiler tag it, but if youve killed the apparently annoying boss whos name begins with an R, youve probably got the item.

The shell or whatever at the top of the room that leads to rom? Use it when you have 15 arcane. Gives your wep arcane buff, screw fire/bolt paper, this only costs 3 bullets.

Just a heads up, back your save up before you eat the third one if youre going to save scum for all 3 trophies in 10 minutes :p I didnt, which is why I had to do another run >.>

I think I'll just go through the game again, honestly I love this game but I might do that as I'm trying to rush now and beat it so that the inevitable withdrawals won't be bad when I can't play for the next 6 months because of surgery on my shoulder.

Or at least that's what I am assuming, the Doctor just kind of gave me a look when I asked if I'll still be able to play after the surgery or if I have to wait until I'm fully healed.

Oh crap I never even looked what that thing does! I already have 15 Arcane though, so awesome.

Hmm wonder if I have that item, sounds nice and it's a use for bullets which I have none, I never parry

Does anyone know the soft cap in this game? Both my Vit and End are 40 (in which I noticed some weird fluctiations on End gains during the 30's), so I was wondering if it's worth putting more into them now or just dumping the rest in Skill.

Blades of Mercy is my main weap if that's any help.

Actually it requires 18 Arcane, not 15. It's pretty useful but there are plenty of enemies who will die faster to Bolt or Fire buffs and honestly Bolt is probably the most useful.

You are at the soft cap really, hard cap is basically at 50.

There's a slight decrease in growth at 30 for vit/end and 25 for everything else, but the true softcap is 50.

I tried to go back to Gascoine's grave and there's a Hunter in there that's kicking my ass.

But seriously, she's (I think it's a 'she') killing me in two hits, tops. Even by shooting.

Can I still get that shell if I somehow missed it? I've done everything except the last boss and chalice dungeons

Yeah, okay, I've officially ran into my first "this level is straight up bullshit" area.

Location/enemy spoilers:
The bell maidens in the Unseen Village are bullshit as fuck. Basically, can't take my time to clear out a mob because they respawn faster than I can clear them all out - so I have to rush through a bunch of enemies to kill the maiden first. And if I get shot by one of the gunners I usually end up dying.
Fuck me, this area sucks.

I got Ludwig's Holy Sword and, HOLY SHIT, is it awesome.

I farmed some twin shards at the prison and got it to level 6. It's move set + power is crazy good. I know both bosses are considered easy, but Vicar Amelia and Witch of Hemwick were just steamrolled.

I'm at 25 - 25 strengh and skill.

So is coop with randoms still broken? Used my bell and running around...nobody has showed up in my game in 3+ days.

I'm not sure if it will make a difference, but is your matching region set to worldwide? I've had no problem finding people for co op. How long it takes varies from a couple seconds to minutes but I usually find someone.

Souls series noob question. Is upgrading the starting weapons ever a waste of resources? Will I find a skill weapon that is objectively better than my threaded cane, or is it a matter of preference?

Run past everything and hit the lantern. I spent over an hour trying to fight my way through (though I did get all the items at least), and it only took a minute to just run through and finally get it over with.

This level is really challenging, you have the right idea by sprinting to
the bell maidens
, basically ignore the additional enemies and focus on killing the
maiden in that area so they can't continually respawn, move to the next area, find the maiden kill her, kill the adds. Done. It's tough but with some patience and skill you will do it. Alternatively you could just spawn at the Hypogean Gaul lamp and circumvent some bullshit.

Nah. Unlike past games every weapon in this one is good. I'm almost at the end of the game and I'm still only using my cane & blunderbuss. While there are stronger/faster/whatever skill weapons it all balances out.

Chikage not worth using if I don't raise my bloodtinge, right? :(

It's worth it even if you don't deem it effective during combat. I use the Chikage to boost style points. For instance, the Chikage is best for achieving the SSStylish class during the battle with a Chalice boss.

Okay seriously though - if the Chikage's movesets are useful to you, then it's worth it.

Yeah, the Holy sword will steamroll every bosses in this game.
It staggers nearly every bosses in this game, even the final and secret final boss.

Wasting upgrades was definitely more of a problem in the old games. Here, pretty much any weapon is perfectly viable and there's not a huge number of them (and before long, you'll be swimming in materials). Upgrade away!

What the fuck is that Hunter in Father Gascoigne's location.

His Bloodtinge stat must be at 1000000000000000000000000000000000000 for that one gun bullet to cause such a ridiculous damage.

What a pain in the arse. What'd you get for beating him?

Super frustrating session tonight. Killed one hard-ish chalice boss (yay), made no progress elsewhere. Died to another boss repeatedly. And another one. And found a neat hidden area but can't survive it. And went another way and ran into new enemies that kill me very fast. And tried another quest line where I died really fast and the load times were too long to put up with.

Starting to wish I'd put 10 more points in vitality instead of skill.

Oh well, I'll get through it.

In previous Soul games, yes, you would eventually find a weapon with great scaling. But in this game I feel any weapon is viable as long as you build your character around it.

Really wish you you could just buy the Chalice materials. It's annoying having to grind through these low level ones with no challenge.

F*ck ROM and the Spider he rode in on. Finally beat the SOB. Worst boss ever lol.

After losing a few in bad fashion I was farming echoes/vials on Nightmare Frontier (why not?) and the first enemy dropped a Bolt Gem. Made all the difference.

The 1h sword is great too. Super effective against SoY, NPC hunters, and most non giant enemies in general.

Biggest thing about weapons is A) Their moveset and B) Stat scaling.

Stat scaling is the letters you see next to the attributes on the weapon screen. A higher ranking (goes from E, D, C, B, A, S in that order from worst to best. S being the best) determines how much of a Weapon Damage bonus you'll get when you level up the stat.

Yeah, I finally got to the next lamp by basically ignoring most of the enemies and making a mad dash. Hopefully I didn't miss too many good items because fuck that area.
