I hope @NintendoAmerica enjoyed the free ad revenue & coverage I generated for em. It will be my last Nintendo video.

This means he can't generate ad revenue from the videos with Nintendo content in, right?

I really, REALLY hate this excuse of "free ad and coverage".

I mean, meanwhile, at Nintendo:

The original content part of the video: he speaks a little.

I know we've had this conversation before but... really?

I believe the terms were that it only works if your channel is exclusively devoted to Nintendo stuff, which none of these are, so it's useless.
You can add single video's (different revenue split)

I don't know much about him, how well received his stuff is, but if I'm reading that right he had 150,000 followers more or less? I doubt Nintendo is too worried about that, pretty small number in the grand scheme of things. Probably not necessary though if it's just a Let's Play thing.

Nintendo is pretty dumb about copyright stuff. Beyond stopping outright piracy or other devs using their ip, I don't see the point.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Angry twitter post... That's how you solve problems nowadays ;-)

Around 2 million followers on YouTube, 380 000 000 video views.

Only if you partner up with them, and everything has to be pre-approved before the video is published. But it's not a problem if he profits off the video.

While I agree that nintendo's approach towards youtube has been rather out of touch, this "free ad revenue" argument only goes so far.
Joe's main concern is obviously and rightfully to make money for himself, not Nintendo, and if the people you're "generating revenue" for don't want you to do so that's their right.

The first thing I thought when I saw the video was, "This is going to be taken down"

Joe should of known really - he did do an Angry Rant about the Nintendo / YT partnership.

Well, the Nintendo copyright claim problems on YT was already known for some months,he should have thought about it before posting. I don't agree with Nintendo policy on YT videos, but, well,we have to live with that right ?

He kinda acts like he should be entitled to being abled to make money from using Nintendo's content.

From a business standpoint, I understand how Joe finds this stupid, but legally and morally it's completely okay for Nintendo to not want people use their content, even it does give them free publicity.

He's figured out Nintendo's new plan: pay for ads on YouTube and then make revenue off of the ads themselves! Genius!

So the video wasn't removed and his channel doesn't have a strike against it? That's not so bad. I'm not sure if he really deserves to make money just from sitting down and playing Nintendo games, but it's really not Nintendo's loss if he does.

"Why isn't this company letting me make easy money using their properties??" I really don't get how Nintendo is supposed to be the wrong one here.

Nintendo is just behind the times with kids/teens these days, they love watching these Youtubers play games and what they see is what they'll likely buy as well.

What ad revenue? He was the one making money from their work.

I thought the content makers get a piece if it's declared?

Regardless if Angry Joe is unwilling to create content he can't directly monetize then all the better for him, I guess. Got to get that gwap, as they say.

Nintendo and their products just stopped potentially reaching 2 million people.

Think about it.

That's weird, a notice just name : Nintendo ?
I mean usually it's Nintendo america, no ?
It looks like a scam again, many times random companies came to bug him lately.

isn't the entire point that there is no legislation about this kind of things?
so how can you say that?

also the moral part is debatable

If Nintendo don't want his "free advertising" (if that's what we're gonna call it) for their games, then they're perfectly at liberty to tell someone to stop producing videos of their content.

This is something everyone who does gaming content, and certainly someone the size of Joe should already be very familiar with, not sure why he's expecting special treatment.

I do 3-4 Wii U videos a year, and if they get hit, I take the loss, whatever. It's more important to give my small audience the coverage they want to see, than the couple of bucks I'd make on the video.

The red tape (and limited list) of the "Creators Program" is not worth dealing with, but I'm not going to throw a tantrum every time a game company claims a video of something they legally have the right to claim.

The simple thing to do is just avoid companies who do this in the future and move on with your life. I know Joe probably makes more money on the videos where he complains about this stuff, so I understand why he does it, but it's the same schtick every time.

But hey, he got his fans to buy him a Wii U, and now he doesn't have to even cover those games.
