Baby Park is Real (MK 8 DLC)

Everyone's flipping out over Big Blue's music, while I'm still here drooling over Nature Road's. Sooo good.

Yeah, that flute or whatever(the main part of the tune) is going to be so fun to drive around to.

It's a stark contrast to the upbeat music in a lot of the tracks.

It almost sounds like it could be in Zelda or something.

This is the best Nintendo release in a long time and they keep supporting it.

They are real battle maps away from it being a top 5 title of theirs ever IMO.

There are times where I think back to the initial reveal of MK8 at E3 2013 and think to myself "how did Mario Kart wind up being THE Nintendo release of this generation?" It's just so strange. Mario Kart was that thing that everyone picked up and played without caring for how jank it looked or bare bones it could be because it was the party game. Suddenly, it gets pumped full of money and treated like an even bigger deal than the mainline platformer series and seemingly out of the blue too.

While my friends and I really enjoyed the Battle Mode in MK64, the Battle Mode in each subsequent MK has been less and less interesting. So at this point I don't really mind its middling implementation in MK8. It's all about the racing for me at this point.

If they add a "Classic Battle Mode" with dedicated arenas and bring back MK64-style battling, then great. But either way, MK8 is my favorite Mario Kart. Each night for the last three nights, I played Versus on Random and knocked out 32 tracks each sitting. I can't wait to add these eight new courses to the rotation. :)

CHEESE LAND!

Wait, Cheese Land? WAIT, THEY'RE FINALLY FUCKING ADDING RIBBON ROAD?! I've been waiting years for them to add RR to MK as a retro track!

God, I NEED to get a Wii U soon.

The Metro and Nature tracks look incredible. I never played the GBA version, so those classic tracks are very appealing as well.

Not another desert track . blegh this game has like 3 now :[

Anyway they all look good aside from desert one

Cheese Land is the moon though. Also at least Bone Dry Dunes is better than Why Why Desert.

Seems like a lack of mousers on the Cheese stage, which were there in the original.

Otherwise, hyped for F-Zero. Scanning in the manual and extracted the artwork from the original game yesterday, and they'll appear on The Video Game Art Archive in a month or so, but here's an awesome snesk peak!

Cheese Land?

Baby Park?

Ribbon Road?

More F-Zero love with BIG FREAKING BLUE?!

Oh, i am ready for this DLC! Everything looks so great and the tracks are just oozing with character, Both Ribbon Road and Cheese Land, two of the tracks that I believed stood out the most in Super Circuit besides Sky Garden, look very fleshed out as they were always meant to be and then some.

And Big Blue... Nintendo, are you hinting something here...? Are you trying to warm people up to the idea of a F-Zero U or something by placing multiple classic courses from the series in here? If, so... thank you. Because I need my F-Zero fix, man. So whether or not that speculation is true, this sort of calms that 10+ year itch for a new game... Note that I said, "sort of". So don't get too comfortable.

For those who say that Baby Park is obsolete because of Excite Arena. It's not really true because the two courses, though simple, aren't the same. Excite Arena is longer and have obstacles along the tracks that mixes things up every time you play it, but Baby Park was the equivalent of a tiny battlefield you had to race through with no distraction other than the competition and their items. No matter what position you where in, you had to be on your guard at all times as you could get hit in any direction. The player in last place could literally be the one who takes out the one in first. The insanity of items in Baby Park is what made it great, along with it's small size. ANd now you put 200cc into this... Things are going to be bat shit insane!

Still, I don't have much to complain about. The retro course still look fun and the new courses all look amazing. Can't wait to try these out!

By the heavens, Nintendo, stop improving your already near-perfect games at ridiculously low prices or I won't be able to care about anything else.

I love that track as well. The woodwinds in the song reminded me of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and I adore that game's soundtrack. Nature Road's music is the most exciting for me.

For their next console launch, they should just release an updated version of this game with more characters, more tracks, all of the DLC, and 1080p. I'd buy it.

The new courses look fantastic. I really like that they're branching out from the Mario series in regards to characters and choices. If they continue at a similar pace, they can really keep the game in peoples minds for a lot longer than it normal would have been. I really hope they have further plans to add characters from their franchises; Hell, I'd even say that Sonic would make a wonderful choice. Nintendo seems to take better care of him than Sega has in recent years.

*Prays that Sakurai's DLC team is just as ambitious*
I'm afraid that he won't be given his statements about DLC before the Lucas reveal.

At the very least, the MK8 team pulled out almost all the stops. All we need now is a proper Battle Mode.

It's sad that F-Zero tracks and 200 CC is as close to a new F-Zero game we'll get for the next decade. But I suppose we should take what we can get...

I'll just chose to think that this is what they're doing to groom people for C. Falcon's eventual glorious HD return. By then people will be used to the antigrav-ish stuff, the somewhat difficulty, and the fact that there's "two tracks from MK" in the new game.

Believe.

Anoter F-Zero track and no Kirby track yet. Well, okay then :T At least the track looks great and the music is amazing.

Anyways, the Nopon Village (Nature Road) looks amazing and the music is soooooo good. :D

They can just keep doing this forever. The love their showing this DLC, they can just keep it coming and I'll keep biting. Eventually they would get to my beloved Double Dash Rainbow Road

CHEESE LAND!

It would add something new to the online mode. Online is excellent but in the end it's just simple racing. Having an entire other mode that is actually fun (the current Battle is horse shit) would draw a ton of attention.

Between the last pack and this one can we safely say best value proposition for dlc ever? And in my opinion, best dlc ever!

This is legitimately the first time I've ever seen someone praise DD's Rainbow Road. :lol

It wasn't bad but it wasn't very memorable either.

All they need to do next is fix battle mode and this is the best racing game ever made. Nothing else comes close. However, battle mode in its current state is unforgivable.

Kirby's too easy to make into a playable character. If there's another pack of dlc someday, I expect he'll headline one the way animal crossing did this one.
