NPD Sales Results for March 2015 [Up1: Nintendo numbers, PS4 placing]

Who did this? I don't get what's surprising. It's on 5 platforms.
More surprising is BB sales and everyone who thought it was going to flop. With digital sales it's probably over 400K.

Mario Party = #3 debut on Wii U, only behind Smash & Mario Kart 8. Toad = #4. Mario Kart 8 was a huge boon to Wii U software sales clearly.

Let me ask a stupid question real quick. Do the console makers directly profit from a copy of a 3rd party game being sold? For example, if I go buy a copy of Battlefield on PS4, does Sony take any of that 60 bucks?

Congrats on being right about Battlefield brand carrying the game I guess. Amazon sales certainly painted a damning picture and honestly I think it would've been a kick in the pants for publishers if it had sold like an add on instead of a numbered entry in the series. I find the fact that a glorified add on sold over 1 million copies based of brand recognition to be pretty damn depressing myself.

Yep, there's a fee for EA to have their game on the PS4 much like apple when apps are purchased. It's how Sony and MS make the money from software.

Nope. Did 220K in November. Nintendo even gave PR w/ that # and everyone was like "Why? That's terrible". Hit like 500K+ by December iirc (so another 300K+).
