New Halo 5 teaser - Spartan Locke armor set

Kind of like Bungie completely ignored or tried to rewrite the mythology while 343i decided to try telling a story with... you know.. actual story.

Both approaches were bad. 343 botched the execution so hard and made Didact a joke. Using the mythology doesn't really matter if your going to screw up so bad.

DID HE SAY ARMOR LOCK?!!?

What the fuck is going on? This dude is a god damned Z Fighter! Ten of those could have won the war.

Those DID win the war. The books better portray Spartans in this form of super-soldier super saiyanism

That being said, watching this over again ... I can't be the only one getting major Vanquish vibes right?

Also, WTH is ShamePain's purpose in this thread?

Would just like to remind everyone of the disaster MCC was for over 100 days post-release before anyone thinks of pre-ordering...

I doubt they will make that mistake again. Haalo MCC was a great game, the matchmaking bugs killed it for a time, but it is now running great and is an amazing time with friends.

That is when Xbox Live itself is working....

And I'll remind you of the beta that was near flawless, and Halo 4 which had functional online (except for fileshare I think). MCC was just too much outsourcing.

While this is not the thread to argue over the quality of the MCC there's still a lot of issues with MP, including aiming in halo 3 reversing the magnatism when aiming the crosshair at someone, a mistake still in the game as we speak.

When was the last graphically impressive game in 1080p on Xbox One?
That's right... never.

I have all 3 systems and the PS4 hasn't graphically blew me away... I still haven't seen anything the Xbox cant do!! 1080p vs 900p isn't big enough to wow me...

Captain Toad and Mario Kart 8 on the WiiU looks visually ground breaking when it comes to sheer style.

For sure, not saying its flawless, I am just saying its fun.

Where as at launch, it was completely broken for multiplayer.

The most drastic example of "rewriting of the mythology" on Bungie's part was making a game whose events don't line up with the dates stated in a book that gets the year of its own events wrong by a decade for most of its chapters.
343, on the other hand, hired a celebrity sci-fi writer and used his talents to tell a gripping story about cavemen walking around and eating bugs for 300 pages. Is that an actual story? Because if so, stories suck and we'd be better off without them.

Those that read the books didn't from what I've gathered.
Wait, what? Did the books do something to their brains? I've only read up to Primordium, am I going to be okay? I don't want to end up like one of those poor souls. :(

You clearly don't own The Order 1886, Driveclub or Killzone Shadowfall if you have yet to be blown away by graphics.

Or you are one of those Nintendo Art/Graphics don't really matter/can't tell the difference types. Which I am thinking you are. Go to the Order Photomode thread, and walk away unimpressed. I dare you.

The matchmaking and menu system was pretty terrible during the beta honestly. While searching if one person quit out after it found enough players to start a match (which happened a lot for some reason) it wouldn't find any replacement players 90% of the time. You'd have to back out and go back into matchmaking which again caused issues with people getting kicked out of the party and having to relaunch the game to rejoin it and all kinds of other nonsense. Not nearly as bad as MCC of course, but it was really frustrating at times especially considering this isn't some groundbreaking things we're talking about. It's straightforward matchmaking, partying up and a menu system. Things like that need to work flawlessly in a series that has been doing so for over ten years already.

It was just a beta of course, but looking back the issues were disturbingly similar to MCC's albeit not quite as common and severe.

Looks nice. Hopefully they get this series back on track. Bungie had it going in the wrong direction when they left, and 343 wasn't able to fully right the ship with Halo 4.

I do have Bloodborne and it looks amazing!! But what I'm saying is that it looks doable on Xbox One... There's aliasing everywhere in that game!! The Order looks stunning, but so did Ryse on early hardware using outdated tool sets. I skipped Killzone, because it looked mediocre to me.

Fair enough. Ryse did look amazing. Hoping against hope that we get a Ryse 2.

I would put up the matchmaking issues to 343 using the new version of the matchmaking services that rolled out earlier this year and tweaking those. Hell, it seemed like MCC may have been using an earlier implementation of the new matchmaking services and it broke the product. I can't possibly see 343 releasing 5 with issues present in the beta or in MCC. That said, the beta was greatly enjoyable. I really hope we get a BTB beta.

I watched my roommate play through the entirety of The Order in one night and I thought it looked like absolute dog crap the entire time, both from a gameplay perspective and a "graphics" perspective. The game literally cuts off portions of the screen so it can render more shades of brown. Enough people giving this game a pass on this and other publishers will start doing it and that would be a huge shame. I will NEVER praise The Order or any of its associated design decicions, graphics-wise or gameplay-wise.

KZ:SF looked good but was a shit game as well. Driveclub is the only one on your list which didn't make massively negative design decisions just to accommodate "moar graphics" to fuel fanboy wars, and even that is hotly debated.

Gameplay always, always, always wins over graphics.

Not really that impressive compared to Chief literally punching a missile out of the sky.

The confrontation between these two is going to be amazing to watch.

Was the coolest thing I've seen for Halo 5 so far, by leaps and bounds, pun intended. Showcases the difference between the slower old Chief and the new super mobility hotness with Locke.

But then that voice hits... and the fact that this is marketing a pre-order thing. I was waiting for an exclusive Mountain Dew flavor to make an appearance any second. Vidya games.

What is going on here? Is this campaign and multiplayer? Is any thing I saw realtime? This is important since this would involve purchasing an Xbox. Answer me GAF!
It's a teaser for the campaign. Probably CGI, however I wouldn't be surprised if the cutscenes look as good as this.

I agree, The Order's graphic style and gameplay totally SUCKS. I like the vibrance of Forza Horizon 2 compared to the overly drab style of Driveclub. And what's with the water droplets on the Driveclub cars? Looks so weird!

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the name Locke is really off-putting. It sounds... focus-tested.
Its one syllable, which is good and laconic, and probably causes eye twitching, mild hysteria and flashbacks to those who hated armor locke in Halo Reach. Win/win/win.

Kind of like a Spartan is supposed to be.
Definitely. You read about Spartans of all kinds in the novels and guaranteed they all feel neutered in comparison when playing them in-game. Halo 4 did a damn good job making you feel more like a tank, but it looks like Halo 5 is taking that even further.

Retailer exclusives.... I hate this. The Xbox Digital preorder better contain ALL of these retailer exclusives. So lame that they do this.

Halo 5 = Justice League Unlimited
Locke = Darkseid
Master Chief = Superman

Locke gonna find out what happens when you piss off a real Spartan.

BELIEVE!

That's an early gamestop pre-order bonus announcement. Haven't they always waited until a month before launch of previous Halo games?

Oh yeah. I'll love it if the gameplay can replicate at least a portion of what we've seen so far in trailers.
Halo 5 = Batman v Superman
Locke = Batman
Master Chief = Superman
ONI = Lex

Locke and Chief gonna be friends in the end and kick ONI's ass.

BELIEVE!
