Our rules have changed, and with change comes war on a scale as yet unimagined.

Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power take their place on the battlefield, alongside thousands of warriors clashing in real-time tactical battles. All at YOUR command.

In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder.

It makes TOO MUCH SENSE. So much sense that I can't believe it's actually happening.

Now make Dawn of War 3 with Relic. DO IT!

The best things come unexpected.

We have known about he existence of this game for a long time now. Not exactly unexpected. People were only wondering when.

With he way they announce these games this probably means it's out by the end of the year right?

Video has the following races/armies shown in the CGI trailer:

Orcs
Goblins
Vampire Counts
Chaos (Tzeentch specifically)
Empire
Dwarves

Lots of races/armies missing!

I wouldn't even be mad at loads of DLC for the game. Warhammer has been going on for a long time (though it ended recently) and that's a lot of armies to create and balance in a game.

This was such an obvious, but fantastic direction for the franchise. Glad to see seeing that earlier 'leak' was correct.

I may just have to build another pc for this. Unless by some magical reason it come out on ps4 (not going to happen).

Doubt they come with everything out of the box. I would expect expansions/DLC. I bet Lizardmen and Skaven won't be in the base game. They always seem like fan favorites you can make people shell out more money for.

They also have an article. It looks like it is a trilogy?

Shitty Google translated version below
It also will make a trilogy that will consist of two separate deliveries and other additional content packs to create, in the words of its leaders, "Total War series longest to date."

Total War: Warhammer also represents the incursion of the series in the world of fantasy for the first time in its history, which obviously change the rules of combat. Giant monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and magical powers storms cited in this game that promises "hundreds of hours of play" with its campaign shifts, tactical battles and other own gameplay elements of the Total War series will be given.

"We have always been fascinated by the universe of Warhammer and we could not wait to make such a colossal and authentic as those that have characterized our title game last fifteen years," said the project manager of Total War: Warhammer, Ian Roxburgh . "We will recreate as never before has anyone".

This new strategy game will be released "soon" on PC, Mac and SteamOS.

It wasn't exactly a leak:

Creative Assembly™, award-winning creator of the Total War™ series, and SEGA® Group have entered into a multi-title licensing deal with Games Workshop® to create videogames based in the Warhammer® universe of fantasy battles.
A new high-calibre development team has been set up at Creative Assembly’s UK studio to work alongside the existing Total War, Alien™ IP and Mobile teams on the first Warhammer title in the deal, scheduled to launch from beyond 2013.

“With this year being our 25th anniversary”, said Tim Heaton, Studio Director at Creative Assembly, “it seems fitting for us to embark on such a dream project with such a well-established partner. The incredibly rich and detailed Warhammer world is something we grew up with, and has left an indelible imprint on us as both designers and gamers.”

“We’ll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before. We’re bringing those 25 years of experience and expertise in extremely high-scoring games to bear, delivering a Warhammer experience that videogamers will absolutely love.”

“We have enormous respect for SEGA and Creative Assembly and have felt for a long time that the combination of the enormously rich setting of the Warhammer world, and their stunning development talent is a match with huge potential,” said Jon Gillard, Games Workshop’s Head of Licensing. “Now that we’ve managed to bring these two giants of gaming together it is safe to say that some truly amazing products are going to be unleashed as a result. We are excited at the possibilities, and are enthusiastically working with the team at Creative Assembly already.”

This first Warhammer game joins the eagerly-awaited Total War™: Rome II and the untitled Alien IP as one of five projects currently in production at Creative Assembly, now one of the largest developers in Europe.

Awesome

Still it worries me: Games Workshop is giving licenses right and left, like everyone can develop WH(40K/FB) game now. Are they in red?

Translation of the article:

After months of rumors Sega and Creative Assembly have confirmed what was already a open secret: the successful strategy series Total War will center its action on the Warhammer fantasy universe, as the fans of the franchise had been asking for.

It will do it as a trilogy that will be formed by other two standalone games, and additional content packs in order to create, as said by the game makers, "the vastest Total War series until date"

Total War: Warhammer marks as well the incursion of the series, for the first time in its history, on a fantasy world, which will obviously modify the rules of combat. Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power will take place in this videogame that promises "hours and hours of gameplay" thanks to its turn based campaign, tactic battles and other mechanic elements trademark of the series.

"We've been always fascinated by the Warhammer universe and we were dying to do such a colossal and authentic game as the ones that have been doing these last fifteen years." affirmed the Total War: Warhammer project chief, Ian Roxburgh. "We're going to recreate it as it has never been done before"

This new strategy game will release "soon" on PC, Mac and SteamOS.
