The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Nvidia video: Behind the Scenes with CD Projekt Red

New AMD cards and the GTX980ti sometime in July-Sept probably. If we look at the previous Titan vs the 780ti then we can expect the 980ti to have 6GB of VRAM and be a bit faster than the Titan X in gaming performance.

I can't wait.

But I want it for The Witcher 3 which comes out next month.

How can anyone still be upset about a downgrade when you'll get to ride around on a glorious motherfucker like this the whole game?

Amazing. This game alone is going to make my Titan X's worth it.

The destruction bit was pretty cool. Too bad I wont be able to use it. Fucking hate when shit like these happen.

I can't wait to turn everything on and watch my framerate tank. Gotta find which of these gorgeous effects I can keep, and which ones I will have to turn off.

ok hairworks thingy look and move better than TressFX 2.0, but lets see if it tank the performance or not.

the hairworks does look great, the downgrade is still evident IMO

edit - not referring to the hairworks

Out of curiosity, have there been any well optimized games that recommend an i7 over the i5? I've thought about upgrading my 660ti to either a 970 or 980, but I'm using an i5 4670k oced to 4Ghz and I'm curious how only having a quad core will affect performance when compared to the i7. I'm sure the video card bump would still be very worthwhile, but would I be hamstrung in some way that would limit its effectiveness? I know its impossible to know for sure with The Witcher, but I figured there must be something that has taken good advantage of an i7 to somewhat compare it.

There are some games that have benefitted from hyperthreading but the difference has seldom been all that significant. Obviously, no one can know at this point except the developers but I would be surprised if your overclocked Haswell i5 doesn't perform as well as the recommended stock Ivy Bridge i7.

Does anybody know if Witcher 3 will have a 30fps lock option? Might just have to settle for that at slightly above console graphics settings.

if by ultra do people mean all the added effects flagged as "on"?

if it were to run on a 970 and i5 4690k, how high can one go on settings until 60 fps isn't stable? no hairworks, etc.?

No one knows yet, and we don't know how CPU hungry it is. If GTA V were any indication of upcoming games then there are some extra fps to be gained by going with an i7 over i5 for example.

i honestly couldn't care less for things like hairworks and physx. i'd rather take lighting and particle effects and performance. with that in mind, can a 970 do the job at 60 fps if all those other crap are disabled?

With my 970 at 1530/8000 MHz it's preeetty close to a stock 980, performance wise. Hoping for 45-55 fps on ultra @ 1080p.

I have an overclocked MSI 970 and if I can get somewhere between about 40 and 70fps at ultra settings on my gsync monitor I will be very satisfied.

If ultra includes hair works people are dreaming if they expect a 980 to pull a solid 60(and even without it im skeptical). Thats without any hardware aa, which seems extremely unlikely to even be available. Looks like fxaa and supersampling sadly

If you read the thread the GTX 980 is able to run TW3 at 60 FPS, Ultra settings, @ 1080p, with HairWorks enabled.

Yeah unless its similar to far cry 4 where ultra isnt really ultra, i dont buy it for a second. I mean just looking at hair works alone, we all know how much it destroys perf even on multi gpu systems

damn, a 970+4690k desktop combo here in canada will run into the $1300-1500 territory. that doesn't include a monitor, btw.

i might be spending that much and still won't even be able to do ultra at 60 fps? damn are these pc parts overpriced or what? with that much money it's still not enough to run modern games at their highest, not to mention succeeding games will only need higher requirements.

Yeah, HairWorks tanked your FPS in Far Cry 4 if there were more than 2 animals on screen at once. That's probably the first setting I'm going to disable unless they somehow managed to optimize the hell out of it.

They've already stated that they are using an in-house proprietary temporal anti-aliasing method. Probably why they don't seem to be using Nvidia's TXAA method.

I can already hear valkyries singing for my 770. 1080p on High with 30 fps or Valhalla!

Not even 4GB RAM can save me, right? :(

You can't do 4k ultra 60FPS

I love how all of a sudden we pretend 4k is the norm

If the gameplay footage has it enabled it sucks

Of course, pretty much everything about the game seems to suck in your eyes.

I'd say it's doing a pretty decent job. And who's to say they won't have more than one quality setting. We simply don't know all the anti-aliasing options that will be available in the game.

So you think the non-trailer, straight gameplay videos have good aa coverage?

Nice OC.

Shouldn't have any trouble hitting that goal.

I haven't really put any serious effort into OCing my 970 FTW. I have HORRIBLE luck overclocking anything, for the past decade I have been trying but I also revert to stock after days of tinkering.

I've always had decent 24/7 ocs on my cpus, but this is the first time running a constant oc on my graphics card.

Always had issues in the past, which made me revert to stock settings. The 970 is something else though! It's easy to spot a stable of from an unstable one. I recommend giving it a go.

Holy crap that fabulous horse.

Hoping a GTX 680 will tank through it at very high-ultra and 1080p/30fps cap. It will be so jarring to switch between 60fps GTA V and Witcher/Batman locked at 30fps.

In light of RAMgate I thought I'd be able to pick up a second 970 used for a good discount. Nope. New is actually about as cheap or sometimes cheaper. Plus a new card comes with The Witcher 3!

I'm completely the opposite. Maintaining 60fps is pretty easy on the CPU end, but unless the game is so old/undemanding that I can hit ultra/60fps at the DSR cap (Why is there a cap?!) I can always use more GPU power. Then there are games where you can stack in-game supersampling with DSR. 16K downsampled to 4K is a tough road.

Hairworks will probably be expensive to run well, as with all Nvidia shit. Nvidia goodies are usually the first thing worth turning off if performance is an issue.

For people that cant downsample from 4k, absolutely. I certainly hope im wrong tho. Iq in pc games is horrendous these days and keeps getting worse

I couldn't believe how bad the IQ was in Alien:Isolation. How does temporal SMAA look that nasty? How? Good thing it performs well enough that supersampling is on the menu with one card.
It actually looks rough with moderate amounts of supersampling, tbh.

I'm not buying the "not showing ultra settings until launch" shit, unless by "ultra settings" they mean something like 4K. Game will look as it has looked.

Love the gryphon.
