(^__^)

Is there fooatge from the event with russian VO?
Not yet, but I'm sure it will be available soon on this channel. You can watch the coverage trailer to hear some of it though :)

Death March for me

Blood and Broken Bones for the first playthrough. Maybe Death March for the next but... I don't know if I will ever finish the first cuz the game is so huge :D

Doesn't necessarily mean it will look like that. It is most likely downsampled, like all their official screenshots. You are going to need more than a 980 to get that at 60 fps.

Oh yeah, definitely not going to look like at 1080P, there will be IQ loss when comparing FULL HD to whatever resolution these shots where taken from., which are clearly greater than 1080P.

Sorry for taking so long to answer, life got in the way lol.

Yennefer. One has to read the books to understand their weird relationship... but Yennefer is the one for Geralt. It seems he had been with her in the games only because he lost his memory.

Now that he remembers everything, I doubt Geralt will choose Triss over Yen.

I am definitely going with Yen, unless this game somehow does something unexpected and changes my perception of her.

Amen to all this.

It's hard to leave Triss, but TEAM YEN all day!

No worries! Usually when there is no response, agreement is assumed :)

Ok, that new Russian video gives us the chance to compare what seems to be the same scene from the VGX trailer with its reworked version in the final game.

They've definitely made quite a few changes to this scene, but it looks like the overall quality is just as good. Personally, I find the new version more impressive.

Pfft… I'm new to the series and am not particularly drawn to either. Geralt needs to escape this deadlock and find new love!

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
That armour detail. CDPR are the absolute masters of actually fucking modelling and texturing the tiniest shit in armour, giving it a real sense of layers and parts. I actually like the designs in The Witcher 2 a lot more than what we've seen of Wild Hunt. The armour in that game still looks better than almost everything else on the market.

Yeah, I think Geralt needs another choice of girl(s). Perhaps a female elf.
Or even a dwarf. Now that would be cute.

And talk about style! (spoilers for TW2 within the individual armor pages)

Which one is the new version lol.

I'm also team yen. She bones triss all the way to the grave although I love triss as well. Yen is the one for Geralt I mean they're for each other and triss just got in there because she was jealous.

Can't wait to see the reactions of some of the game only players when they find out the story that I think ciri is going to be involved with in this game. ;)

Lightning is better in VGX trailer. You can see that Wild Hunt armor is not lighted from fire behind in new version.

Exactly. They know to make the tiniest detail high-res and not leave those few little spots of clothing jarringly low res because "they are so small that it doesn't matter" when it really fucking does. They know it's important to just make it all fucking high-res and not half-ass it. Love it.

The lighting isn't better or worse in either version. They've made changes to the scene that result in different placement and distance of the light sources (the flames). We see specular highlights in places in the new version that aren't in the old version, and vice versa.

It also looks like they redesigned the armor somewhat, but it's hard to tell for sure because a lot of it is in shadow in both versions.

In the newer version the burning house in the background is further away, whereas in the older version there is a smaller fire that is closer behind him. The entire scene is much darker in the older version, while the newer version has fire all around and is therefor generally better lit. In the newer version it seems the strongest light source is coming from the front and right of him, which naturally throws the left sides of each leg into shadow. His victim is being affected by the light in the same way (not as easily seen in that shot, but in some of the previous I posted). All of the lighting looks consistent.

This is my thinking as well.... I know I will do a 2nd playthrough, but I reckon after conquering Bloodborne, I am ready for a first up Death March (I think.....it's hard to say haha).

Here are some other shots of the same areas, although under very different lighting conditions. This time compared against a couple scenes from the Sword of Destiny trailer.

IMO that's because they are an European (Polish studio). Medieval Times actually happened in Europe and never in the US. That is why, IMO, The Witcher and Assassin's Creed have almost perfect armor and clothing design from those times (years 1200-1600).

BioWare is too far away from Europe and its castles, armories, museums etc. to give two shits about the authenticity of the armor design.

The newer one with that tree. there are some branches missing (right side), one extra body is hanging, the draw distance in the day looks to be higher, but apart from this, it almost looks the same - but the scene looks better in night - better atmosphere :)

When will professional media have videos ?

If with "professional media" you mean something like IGN they already had their shot and created some awful dubstep garbage. GameSpot had good coverage, but if you are looking for pure gameplay then youtubers deliver most.

---

Also please God lets not turn this thread again into graphical comparison / downgrade speculation circlejerk :D

Nope, actually quite the opposite. Everything that we can reasonably compare looks equally good in the new version.

I'm talking about at least comparing the same places, even if under different lighting conditions. (Although that seems to really throw people off too).

You have to resort to comparing completely different areas to try to show a supposed downgrade.

Basically everything looks fucking amazing. Only thing I think could of worked on some more is the animations, even more so in dialouge. Although it's easier to give it a pass when you consider the scope of the game.

I dislike the strong vignetting in the new "screenshots"

How is Triss' hair described in the books?
chestnut color
Where's Shani?
In the Oxenfurt expansion I guess (Hearts of Stone)

Most welcome. I'm reading the books and the political factions are still confusing as hell to me.
Those maps helped me:

Some Northern Kingdoms: Kingdom - Cities - Ruler (pre-games):

Temeria - Vizima/Ellander - Foltest
Redania - Tretogor/Oxenfurt/Novigrad - Dijkstra
Aedirn - Vengerberg/Kaer Morhen - Demavend
Kaedwen - Ard Carraigh/ Ban Ard - Henselt
Lyria and Rivia - ... - Meve
Kovir and Poviss - Pont Vanis - Thyssen
Cintra/Brugge/Sodden - ... -
"Cirilla"
Skellige - Kaer Trolde -
"Cirilla"

Seriously, what happened to IGN in the last year or so. I mean, they were never amazing or anything, but lately, they have stuff like this video and that mario kart 4-20 piece of shit and I just wonder where it has all gone wrong.

Amusingly the video has an IGN advert before it for me - the same IGN advert which plays before Avengers Age of Ultron at cinemas in UK. It's IGN promoting The Witcher 3. They've been paid to do it, obviously.

But were they paid to use some dubstep record from hell? I hope not.
