Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

and the IP owners need to stay on top of their IP.

Not saying they aren't part of being responsible. But it seems like most people are just completely ignoring Sony.

I hope Capcom does work this out with Sony. Forcing down a shit version of the game down on the community is just BS.

Got hype and bought it this morning so I could play after work. THAT MENU SPEED WTFFF instantly knew something was way fucking wrong

my fight money ;_;

Honestly o don't think I'd trust whoever ported this to patch this

Yeah really, if they can ship the game with the main menu screen crawling and think that's ok, I don't know how they can handle the finer adjustments that need to be made. It's ridiculous, really.

I'm trying to figure out why people think a budget port, by a mediocre team, whose marketing consists of a single blog post, would be patched anyway.

There's more evidence to the contrary.

I fear for SFV, Sony should had never stepped in. The game was going to come out anyway, now its going to be a rushed mess.

Edit: I'm joking, I was supposed to hide this image on the period but I accidentally hit posts, such a good opportunity lost :(

has anyone actually measured the input latency or is this just impressions saying it feels off?

not to discount the impressions. i'm sure serious sf players would instantly notice if something is off

i'm just curious if there's been an actual test yet

I said it before, but the whole fact that this game was going to launch this month actually caught me by surprise because they made such little mention of it for months. And then a Playstation blog broke the news... Like this was never seriously going to be a good port and I feel dumb getting hype about it.

Fuck. I feel so mad at capcom. Disgusting how they could outsource this without having a good handle on QA.

Too much pressure from their business partners. Evo ain't gonna be happy about this. Nor other TO's.

Yah it feels like Capcom is trying to do everything dirt cheap now. DMC4:SE has a ton of recycled animations among the "new" playable characters, and only 1 new costume for each character. They want to minimize as much risk as possible in terms of investing a lot of money with little to no payoff ...

I had no clue this wasn't handled by Capcom. No way a single dime of my money would have went to this had I been aware. Now I feel like I should have checked up on it beforehand.

Guess that much is my own fault. No wonder we didn't see any real info or footage of this before release. That should have been a sign, but my dumb ass didn't read the writing on the wall.

I'm guessing Capcom knew it was a mess and that's why we basically never saw it before today.

Good point. Capcom has been pretty big about showing off builds in progress to the fighting game community except for this. I have to admit, I missed the original news Other Ocean was porting it. Given the PS4 similarity to PCs, I assumed this would be straightforward with the PC version having been cleaned up.

The major issue is the input lag.. which will not be noticed at all by most. I've been able to pull off all of my bnb evil ryu combos and have only noticed slight lag that i would with any game day one online(look at GGXrd and MKX). The other issues are IMO minor and easily fixed with a patch. People need to calm down seriously and give them a chance to respond. Lmao @ Press Start though.

And if they don't patch it before evo (which I think it's unlikely that they will); there's no way they'll patch it after

I mean, Capcom seems to not be doing great financially so I understand the risk aversion.

You think Sony cares about EVO? The players are the ones that want the very best version of the game to play. Sony just wants the game to be played on a platform they own. The two goals aren't mutually exclusive, if they're related at all. USFIV is functional on PS4 and for Sony, the buck might just stop there, honestly.

Like, this is before we even factor in the fact patches cost money (so they're going to assess whether the investment is worth it) and that they would probably need to do multiple to get the game where it needs to be, because when was the last time you played a game that needed an update and only got one?

I don't get the meaning of this post at all.

Nintendo QA the living fuck out of their games, no matter if they're full AAA releases or ports of old games. And they don't farm them out to no-name studios to to quick/cheap ports

So you get games like Majora's Mask on the 3Ds being in development longer than it took to make the original N64 game. Compare and contrast Nintendo ports to MCC or this.

Okay so I got to play the port and... it's not as bad as I feared. It's definitely playable. All the high-execution stuff still works.

It does need a patch though, especially in the presentation area.

You think Sony cares about EVO?

To its credit (and sometimes its downfall), Sony is a very forward-thinking company. I'm sure they're looking at SFV becoming a prominent e-sports title, and anticipating the association which comes with that.

they have to if they want people to play on the CPT

It doesn't look like organizers will have a choice. It's either the PS4 USF4 version and pro tour, or 360 version and no pro tour. You would hope that capcom/sony has the decency to let CEO/EVO play on the 360 if the PS4 version isn't adequate, but I have my doubts.

Dat Sony Third-Party Production Collabs™ excellence at work, y'all.

I just don't get it. How did they botch up a port of a game that should have otherwise been piss-easy? Maybe this is good news they've been busy as hell on SFV and readying a damn nice demo for E3, b/c if not, Sony's dropping the ball hard.

Skyward Sword.

That is all.

I don't like the idea that some people are putting forth of "well...I should have seen this coming, it's partially my fault I guess."

I get what you're saying as it's a bad port house, but a publisher putting out a shoddy buggy game after advertising it as a definitive, tournament-standard version is not the fault of the customer. It's not your fault you didn't "see" a bad product coming before release. It's a publisher's job to put out a good product that lives up to how they marketed and advertised that product.

Being "tricked" into buying a poor port on day 1 isn't the fault of the person buying it. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be extremely cautious (especially these days) about day 1 purchases, but it's shame on the developer and publisher, not shame on you.

You think Sony/Capcom are just going to let bad publicity go out of control just for the sake of using the PS4 version at EVO?

I don't know about that. Either the version will get patched real quick or EVO and other TO's will use a different version of SF4.

Anything Capcom makes themselves in-house is going to be passable, if not work really well. They're good about live streaming stuff too. SFV is going to be fine as is DMC4SE.
