Bad news folks. Flagnum is back.

Josh Holmes stated over on Team Beyond (Competitive Halo site) that CTF in Halo 5 will be a mix of old and new CTF. It's most likely Flagnum with flag juggling + thrusting ability and (hopefully) no auto-pickup.

  • Teases a "completely new, epic multiplayer experience" they'll reveal at E3. Incorporates "all aspects of the Halo sandbox for the first time ever"
  • This MP experience is described as a "dream of ours and all our fans to build something like this"

Y'know what?

I think 343 are going to try and beat Bungie at their own game..

I'm predicting Persistent public zones as an evolution of Spartan Ops.

[*]Spoilers:
Cortana's silhouette is seen by the Chief after he's separated from Blue Team, she says: "John, the domain is open. Meridian is next. You only have 3 days, John. The Reclamation is about to begin."

This shit sounds like the back of a young adult dystopian novel.

Oh really? Okay, that sounds a bit better then.

But don't you think reviving just means respawning? Like when you play co-op, if one dies, the other can go hide and you'll respawn. In MP that's just normal respawning, you'll still die...
It's mentioned that you can command the AI to ressurect a fallen teammate, so it's definitely the Gears of War system and not the oldschool "just wait in cover until your mate is spawning"
GI directly states that you have to ressurect teammates on your own now and that it's not the classic hiding in a safe location until your mates respawn

Some good sounding stuff there. Not sure how I feel about A.I. partners but I'll wait to see the game to judge and given what they're going for in the story, I really want to see it. Still, no mater how good this looks, I refuse to pay full price.

Already though about that as 343i mentioned the Infinity as the big HUB for Halo 4. Something like N64 Perfect Dark, where you can walk through a ship and test weapons at a firing range would be so awesome.

I hope that with all these maps they don't get seperated out like they tend to do. 4-5 in small rotation for slayer, 4-5 for an invasionesque gametype, 4-5 for BTB, etc. It made playing Halo 4 get really old very quick when there were only 4 maps in the slayer rotation (initially at least).

That said, I welcome a very large scale BTB on the level of Battlefield. That would be amazing.

All these details sound like the changes and improvements I was looking for in Halo since Halo 3, and they are actually getting me excited about the Halo series again.

I had completely lost all interest in this series after Halo 4 (never even bought the game, I just rented it for the campaign and returned it after beating it in two days), but this has really turned me back around in a big way.

It may even be enough to push me over the edge and finally buy a current gen console, but that also depends on what else Microsoft is showing off and if Sony is able to bring some great stuff too. If MS has Crackdown and a new Banjo or something, I'll be getting an Xbox One as soon as possible. :D

Crackdown is already on the way.

I dunno, it sounds great dont get me wrong but i definitely get the feeling that MS is getting worried about Halo. Free DLC, and that much of it? When as MS ever done anything like that and with their flagship title?

Im glad its all free, but i hope it pays off for them in the long run. Dont fuck this Halo up MS.

Does anyone have access to the GI issue? I have it (digitally) and it looks like the images they have are in-game models? Looks really good.

Everything there is ingame. They have two first person shots there too. And sadly to me, the game doesnt look that much better than Halo 4.

But maybe the game will sport a way bigger scale, that would explain it. And 60fps of course.

Who knows how high you're standards are though.

  • Whether playing as Chief or Locke, you're accompanied by a fireteam of 3 A.I. which you can command/issue orders to in the campaign
  • Highlighting an enemy and hitting up on the D-Pad orders your team to assault an enemy
  • Other commands include picking up certain weapons, using turrets, driving warthog, etc
  • AI teammates can revive you as well

This sounds remarkably like the Halo version of Republic Commando.

I might have to buy a XBone now.

I think they look a good bit step up, but I want to see it in motion as that will speak more. The shots of Master Chief and Spartan lock at the beginning of article look well detailed to me.

Has nothing to do with standards when the game barely looks better than the last one. I would post a comparison, but you know, scans etc ;)

And like i said, it will probably look better in motion. A lot of games look "bad" on screens but amazing in motion.
