I'm glad they chose framerate over local splitscreen.
the two aren't mutually exclusive, lol

The Forza excuse is spreading to other games.I'm glad they chose framerate over local splitscreen.
Has 343 done ANYTHING right with Halo other than killing it?
Not charging for Map DLC seems like a good idea.

By the way guys, this is only campaign. 2 player split is available in MP.
That's like saying "You can have free sprinkles with your shit ice cream!"
Exaggeration, but still.

They will still have 2 player splitscreen for MP this is about campaign.
What the hell, 343.
I have played every single Halo with my brother, on release, in splitscreen co-op. Everytime it comes out, we set aside a few days to play through the campaign on all difficulties and then head online together.
Thanks a lot, 343, you ruined the one thing I have in common with my brother; couch co-oping a Halo game.

A downgrade from every other Halo. But ADS guys! 343 is listening.
You said it yourself "Have split screen mode run at a lower fidelity". If thats the case, Id rather not have it at all if its sacrificing any technical fidelity with the game...I want the game to be of the highest quality that it can be on a "Next gen" console that I paid good money for, and If split screen "Lowers" any technical fidelity then get rid of it...They don't need to sacrifice that stuff, it's well within the realm of possibility to have splitscreen mode run at a lower fidelity, while not impacting the quality of the game when being played solo.
They are just being "lazy" aka they didn't deem it worth it to focus on that aspect and just went, we'll just not include it.

Halo was the glue that held my family together. With every release we would get together and play 4 player splitscreen, be it campaign or multiplayer. When my parents heard about this news, they filed for divorce. My sister ran away.
Thanks 343, you ruined my family

I won't miss it, and I am actually happy that the resources invested into making that feature work will be put somewhere else.
Split screen co-op was great for past generations, but it's time to move on.
I dont get you dude, why do you ALWAYS defend them? Obviously from this thread alone a TON of people count on split screen co-op. 343 is proving they can do nothing right, over and over and over again.
I just dont get how anyone can defend any dev when they cut features.
Split-screen practically always sacrifices fidelity while playing in split-screen.You said it yourself "Have split screen mode run at a lower fidelity". There is precedent for sacrifices to have to be made to the overall game in order for split-screen to work. Campaign is most likely pushing the hardware to the point that a stable split-screen experience would not be possible.
The fact that multiplayer still has split-screen support speaks volumes for this theory.
This has to be a joke?
So you've played the game?

People were so sure that Halo was in good hands, but it turned out to be the opposite.
The best feature of that entire series to me. RIP.
I think the reasonable response is that it's sad to see a series staple go, but you can easily fathom why they went this direction. And while the situation is unfortunate, this cut only affects the campaign - local multiplayer is still a thing. It's important to not confuse the issue, because I would be that much more alarmed if local multiplayer was cut as well.

There's still going to be splitscreen MP, though, right?
Only 2 player.Oh man, that's disappointing. I've completed all of them at least once in local coop.

Has 343 spoken about why this is the case or if they are looking into post support for local play? It's strange that there is split screen for MP but not for SP.
*Free DLC
*More/Better integration with Books & Video Games
*60 frames per second in Halo (5)
The answer to all of that is "we don't know"*Free DLC
How many of the maps are duplicates are Forge creations?
*More/Better integration with Books & Video Games
I'd prefer I didn't need to read 5 books to know whats going on in a video game.
*60 frames per second in Halo (5)
Allegedly and at what resolution, beta was not 1080p
split screen has long been a hurdle that was kept around because it was a fan favorite. But framerate, IQ, and the like have become much more desirable.
I agree but, for me, specifically Halo was about gathering with friends. Nothing more and nothing less.
The term "Halo night" amongst friends didn't start because people played in their own houses via Xbox Live, I assure you.
