Looks like poor man's Sunset Overdrive.

It wouldn't be GAF without drive by shit posting.

Would you care to elaborate what aspects of the footage you took into consideration to reach that conclusion, or, you know, add anything at all to the discussion?

Watched the trailer and gameplay again, can't believe how CGI like it all looks. Gorgeous art direction and lighting, and very clean overall image. Sunset Overdrive looks great as well, so I suppose there was little doubt R&C would end up looking as good as it does.

Those types of posts are blatant trolling and should be bannable imo.

Anyway I have not played R@C for a long time I might try this it looks amazing.

This is really blurring the lines between an animated film and real time graphics. I'm sure that during gameplay you will be able to examine assets that are not so high quality, but the trailer as it's presented, with quick cuts and lots of action, can fool anybody into thinking this is some DreamWorks movie or something along those lines.

Game looks great, but what the fuck is with the ads and patreon link on that Youtube video that's just 8 minutes of gameplay?

I mean, there's not even a 5 second BS pre-roll of "Hey guyz, here's some video I have access to!"

Christ, make something if you want a handout.

I was expecting to be floored by the visuals...just not THIS MUCH!!!

This game looks INCREDIBLE. The crazy thing is that if Sony is debuting this stuff now...then E3 is going to be sick!

Edit: This definitely looks to be a reimagining of the first game instead of a straight up remake. A game based on a movie that's based on a game lol. I wonder how much the story will differ from the original and if any new characters will be presented? It seems Captain Qwark will play a bigger role in person than he did in the original title. I'm personally hoping they severely amp up the humor.

Same graphics, same weapon wheel, but the gameplay itself is underwhelming compared to the madness you see in SO.

I was playing the first game recently (I like to use it to teach people about playing 3D games with twin sticks since it tends to work well for those new to the genre) and I have to say they really nailed retaining the feel of the original planets/levels while reinventing them for PS4.

This looks so fucking pretty, and fun too. I've never actually played a Ratchet & Clank game before so I guess this will be my first.

Looks fucking amazing.

How odd. They use Future series weapons while retaining original enemies. But who cares Groovitron is back, woo.

...Still, there is some story changes I dont think are good IF they are going to rebrand this as the true origin story of the franchise. Namely Qwark seems to be more ally, and doesnt seem to be villain as he was in original. Oh well...

Besides that, Ratchet seems to be slightly more talkative during gameplay, which I hope wont be too annoying.

But fuck that nitpicking this looks beautiful

You have it backward, Sunset Overdrive is the poor man's Ratchet & Clank :p

More seriously, this looks fantastic from both a gameplay & graphics perspective. If Insomniac can deliver this game with a high level of polish, this has the potential to be their best selling game in many years.

holy shit that looks good.

i wanted some 60 fps but man (or woman) that looks really good.

i thought it was going to be a remaster of the first game but it is not even a remake but a reboot wowowow!

It's a shooty platformer, how would they integrate weight? It's all about running around and firing off ridiculous weapons. Ratchet's not a tank and it's a cartoon game not Dark Souls.

Wow, lower your defensive level, please. I'm just talking about the feel of the game. For an example of what I mean by weight in a shooter platformer, see Splatoon. Everything from the physics to sound effects, speed and momentum adds to the feeling of weight. The way the paint falls and sounds as you fire adds a sense of gravity, the way the guns sound and the immediate visual and audio feedback of hitting enemies. In these areas R&C has always felt a bit light and weak to me, more so than I'd liked. It's quite hard to explain.

That doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it isn't for me. Is that something to get so worked up about?

This looks incredible, but more importantly it looks FUN.

I love my dead serious cerebral realistic drama TLoU/Witcher/Souls games as much as anyone else, but sometimes you need a change of pace in the AAA market, and this is exactly it.

Looks awesome but damn I thought the movie was coming out this year.

Regardless this might be a big opportunity to turn Ratchet and Clank into a marketing machine like Cars or Frozen.

30fps again? Groan...

Look, they did research on it and found that people don't give a shit about 30fps vs 60fps. Call of Duty would no doubt have done as well as it has even at 30fps. Gameplay fluidity and response time have no bearing on anything, especially in shooters, and R&C is a shooter.

I had pretty low expectations for this ever since it was announced and they have been blown away. I'm tickled by how great it looks, definitely picking it up and it has raised my interest in the film, too.

Is this a reboot or a remake? Because a lot of that seems really similar to the first game.

Anyway, I loved these games on PS2 when I was a wee boy. I never got into the PS3 ones, I played Tools of Destruction but never finished it. I was meaning to play A Crack in Time, but I still haven't got it. So I skipped out a lot of it. I was literally obsessed with these games though.
