Ratchet and Clank (PS4) - First Trailer [Up: 8 minutes of gameplay, $40]

kinda. Usually if a game costs less, I'm not shocked when there is less content.

You should probably rethink this approach to pricing and perceived content/game length.

Think back to Order 1886, was the $60 price a good indication of how much content there was? Or the £10 or so for Freedom Cry?

Now more than ever, price probably shouldn't be used as a way to gauge how much content a game offers.

10-12 hours sounds like the usual PR padding.

8-10 hours would still be a great deal though. And as a SP game you bet your ass I'm hunting that plat.

As a biased Ratchet fan, I am fine with 30 FPS since the game looks gorgeous and the gameplay looks like a blast. Can't wait. I wonder if it will include all the levels from the original as well as new ones.

What the hell are you on about? The difference between 30 and 60 fps is not hypothetical.

As it pertains to this game what is the difference? If you can tell me how much the animation will improve - please do so - measure it, give me the example. Since you're not the developer, you sadly can't. You can just speculate that a higher frame-rate will equal smoother animations from what's already smooth animation - a more is better argument. That's defined as a hypothetical.

Will you ever see the game in 60 fps? No. So in short, debating an improvement that your eyes will never see.

Screw this.. Seriously. Ratchet and clank, at 30fps. God damn it.

I hope this is an encoding problem or whatever.. God damn. You botched it big time Insomniac. I won't even buy this at the bargain bin if it is 30fps.

At least according to How Long To Beat every "mainline" R&C has been that long, not counting Nexus, booty etc as mainline. (and my personal estimations don't conflict with that)

Not sure about pausing for weapon switches. I hope there's an option to keep it in real time for us veterans.

There's tapping triangle to rotate between your last 3 weapons.

Well that's how it is in other games, and i'm pretty sure that's how it will work here.

Compare ToD to ItN. No longer hypothetical. Or any game on a PC where you can lock the frame rate between 30 and 60.

It is a personal preference yes but when you have a lot of action on screen many people prefer a smoother 60fps. Insomniac have made a decision to go with 30fps that people should be satisfied with but it's not unreasonable for people to prefer going the other route.

if it ain't broke don't fix it

R&C is glorious exactly as it is.

We'll see what else the game will have. Like space flight, different gameplay mechanics in other worlds, that sort of thing. But nah, this is R&C and this is what makes it amazing. No need to mess with it.

Change it for what?

It works very well as it is.

Like what? Change for the sake of change is not good, also we only saw a small snippet there could be a lot more they need to unveal yet. The games are great as is, too much change and people would whine about that.

I don't know what they could do to make it fresh. Maybe tone down the shooting a little? I'm just sick of playing what feels like the exact same game over and over. To be fair they are giving the IP a little rest this time with a 3 year gap, but I'm still so very much burnt on this formula. Hopefully they'll do something to make this one stand out, but I'm not very confident judging from the video.

That's why I said I would be more okay with Ratchet and Clank having less content at that price. The Order had shit content for the price. Ratchet and Clank might be a steal.

Surprised it's that cheap. If it's anything like every other Ratchet and Clank game, i will get endless hours of fun from it

Lol. This is why devs are afraid to price games below the standard 60. People automatically assume it's somehow inferior in quality or length

Damn it looks good. Legit thought it was 60fps for a minute, quality motion blur. The first Ratchet game was always my favorite so I'm hoping this game can do it justice.

Yeah, they should apologize and cancel it, or they can kiss their business goodbye and all that.

The game looks incredibly clean and polished, I'm really impressed.

You should find another series then, they are not going to change a successful formula.

For the main series anyway.

By the time this hits it'll have been 6.5 years since ACIT (with A41, FFA in there, as well as the more "classic" ITN)

Over the first 7 years of the franchise you had 7 mainline games (counting Q4B)

Pretty honest on their part to price it at 40$ considering it will share a lot of contents with the original game and I guess it won't have multiplayer. It will benefit sales a lot.
