Do you guys sell all your loot or don't loot at all? I can't even comprehend this. Ther's water and alcohol literally everywhere. By the time you leave White Orchard you should never have to worry again about shortage. And we are talking deep deep in the game here. How is it even possible not be fully stocked with everything at that point? And yes i'm talking about Broken Bones difficulty.
The Nithral fight is pretty early in the game, it's like a level 6 quest. There were also a lot of encounters leading up to it that were difficult, at least for me. All I remember is going into the cave with a shitload of food and alcohol, and me being out of it by the time I got to Nithral.

You didn't even have a Swallow potion by that time? And no food items? And no weapon repair kits? Unbelievable.
If you lacked preparation, you're going to struggle. Don't blame the game.

You only have yourself to blame dude. At that point of the game if you still haven't figured out how wrong you are playing then it is not worth explaining again at all.

So what you're saying is that good level design makes sure the player has everything they could ever need available at all places and points of time during all missions? Every cave should stock a full pantry, a full selection of alchemy ingredients, a full set of crafting components, a blacksmith and a brothel while they're at it? If you think about it for a little while, I think you would come to the conclusion that, no, that would be pretty shit design and you're just needlessly complaining because you might have to replay 20 minutes.

I suppose it's thanks to people like him it's why the game is designed the way is designed (see my balance thread, where I complain of the opposite issue).

Merchants will have more and more coin the more you trade with them. Buy some runestones and diagrams from them. Next time they have enough coin to buy your loot and if i'm not mistaken they keep having more coin when you come back again a few days later. You can sell all the food that has only 5 and 10 sec regeneration. It's pretty much useless after the first couple hours of playtime. Once you have 100 water in your inventory you will never need anything else. I like to keep milk tho because it's even better then water but not as common.

Thanks for the tips. I've been playing for a while and only use food as an emergency, swallow all the way.

I'm selective about what I loot. Beer and food items are skipped, the rest are picked up and I usually sell the pelts immediately to free up my inventory weight.

Yes, you do you find strong alcohol everywhere! Alcholest, Dwarfen Spirit, Temarian Rye can all be used to replenish potions. I believe I had 1200 gold leaving White Orchard, and that's after purchasing all the innkeeper's gwent cards and crafting a sword.

I've found thaf the game is generous in giving you critical crafting and alchemy components while in areas that pertain to quest. You just have to make the effort to search anything that is lootable.

For instance, finding two emerald stones to craft the viper school's witcher swords. I collected the first from a wraith who was guarding a place of power in White Orchard and the other on a scaffold in the main area of the palace in Vizimir. Could I have bought a pair of emerald dust for 1100 coin? Yes, but the game rewarded me for taking the initiative to explore my surrounding by giving me two emerald stones, thus saving me from wasting my coin to buy them.

But the passive skill for sign intensity for medium armor seems very good. I'll just suck it up and use griffin in the mean time, bound to stumble on better relic gear eventually.

You can go for that but using the cat gear you can still get 100% knockdown on aard and 100% burn chance on igni. The damage on signs isn't so amazing that you can get all your dps from it and if you're going to be swinging a sword cat gear >> griffin gear. The light armor perk is probably the best as far as dps goes and when you combine that with attack power bonuses (neither of the other sets has a pure boost) you can get stupid high damage on your fast attacks and you can still cast all day.

Try making both and see what works for you.

Just finished the game. Fantastic overall, and I really liked the ending I got.

Ciri
becomes the Empress
, Ehmyr
steamrolls into the North but lets Temeria be it's own thing
, Cerys
made Skellige prosper
, with Triss and Geralt
living happily in Kovir.

Almost the same as mine except
Geralt is foreveralone.jpg

Early game is tough even on Blood and Broken Bones, but it got stupidly easy later on down the road. I did have a problem with a few late game boss fights though.

yeah, i started on blood and broken bones and did have some trouble with jenny of the woods and the first griffen fight, and a few others. but once i got in the swing of things, everything's a layup. the enemy patterns are too basic and predictable. you can even largely ignore enemy weaknesses and just take them on using signs and swords

I've just started crafting Superior Ursine gear, but I think I'm gonna quickly jump to Mastercraft. (Almost level 30 anyways)

Problem is... Im having a hard time finding merchants that sell Dimeritium Ingots (or items I can dismantle for them), as well as Alchemy Ingredients. Also just finished the Bald Mountain quest, so it's safe to say that I'm getting close to a point of no return? I'm back in Novigrad now, so I should get all the remaining side-quests done? (Example, I'm doing the assassination of
Radovid
quest at the moment)

Oh, my bad. I was mistaken with the other wild hunt mage fight much later in game. Guess i was a bit too harsh on nOoblet16 then >< Sorry!

This dungeon is tricky indeed when you run in there without stocking up food and potions first.

Alrighty, i'm sold. Will give it a try.

So I think I'm nearing the main story's end,
Wild Hunt came to Kaer Morhen, fucked shit up and Vezemir didn't make it (is there any way he could have survived?)
. I'm preparing for round 2 now.
You've got a lot more main story ahead of you. But less than what came before it...maybe 2/3rds done?

Yeah I was pretty satisfied with my ending, mostly the same as yours except Ciri
became a witcher
it felt right she
didn't really seem to have an eye for politics or care much about that and she was tired of living her life shackled to some greater destiny so finally being able to be a witcher and be free to roam the lands and use her powers freely felt great. Also giving her her first silver sword was awesome

Ending spoilers

I kind of preferred the witcher ending. She pretty much goes crying and I never got the sense that she wanted to be withheld by who she was or responsible for being... responsible. The opposite actually. She pretty much says, "I gotta" before heading off. Bitter-sweet sells it a bit short even.

I love how everyone expects that to be the end game without blinking an eye. And then the game keeps going, but with more urgency. It is almost as if somebody gave some thought to pacing in an open world game...

Agreed it's a wonderful ending for Ciri and Geralt honestly. It's the truest expression of their devotion to each other, Ciri can finally be free and Geralt embraces her wishes and lets her go, the sword you give her being symbolic of that. It's a shame she never underwent the mutations though, I guess being of the elder blood she doesn't need them but I thought it would have been super cool for her to glance up out of her hood and have the witcher eyes.

The mutations have 30% survival rate. Sounds fun

God damn this game is amazing.

Lost track of how many hours I have played it. (In game timer says 6 days for whatever reason) but I hope to spend many many many more in this amazingly crafted world.

Not since Ocarina of Time or Morrowind have I been this immersed in a world. The environments, the weather, NPC routines, characters, lore, etc etc are just so spot on its incredible.

It doesn't feel like CDPR created a world, it feels like they went to a world and captured it in digital form.

Tiny details in armor, or the way the docks of novigrad feel "wet" and it is as if you can smell the air. The way every quest seems like it is a part of the world youre in, not just a tick box. The way decisions, much like day to day decisions in life, have uncertain and often unexpected outcomes. The fantastic writing and well developed characters that inhabit the world. The small towns and farms on the outskirts of larger cities. Ways in which the war has left its mark on the countryside, from abandoned battlefields, scarred inhabitants, corpses littering the land, or just the uneasy tension of common folk.

I could go on for hours about all the tiny details that make this one of the best games I have ever played, but truth be told I would rather go back to playing.

I will also say that I have had my definitive "This is Next Gen" moment of this generation. In terms of not just fidelity, but an immersion that just was not possible before.

I thought it was going to happen first in FO4 or TESVI, and I have posted many times about it being my dream for next/current gen. But Wild Hunt has beat them all to the punch.

I was in an Inn in Novigrad, enjoying the sights and sounds, watching fights, playing gwent, drinking beer and exploring unlocked doors, when I heard the sound of thunder rolling outside, and raindrops hitting heavily.

I walked to a window, and this is what I saw. (Off screen video from my phone mind you)

My dream came true. This is what its all about.

Anyway, I'll stop gushing. Back to Novigrad I go.

PC right.Dont get me wrong I love the game.My immersion is lost by the PS4 performance .Sometimes.

Right... anytime i look outside a window from indoors in Novigrad, i just see brokenness. Its kinda sad. not to mention the constant raining and dripping of walls inside buildings hahaha.

Also, i like how clothes look wet when you start a conversation. So weird.

Oh Yahtzee reviewed it. Must see if it fared better than the other two.

As to the question. I think it will help but there is also a plethora of characters that haven't shown up in the previous games, yet the game doesn't exactly ease you very well on to their relationship with Geralt when they appear here.

I'm actually surprised there was no sort of backlash for introducing a lot of stuff for the story without taking the time to do it properly. It seems to me that If I didn't read the books, my grasp on all things Ciri, Wild Hunt, Elder Blood, Eredin related would be very weak indeed. Granted I haven't finished the story yet but that's my impression so far.

Thanks, think I'm fine with just playing Witcher 2 then and skipping the first? It not having native controller support has me hesitant if I want to try with my MMO controller setup.

I skipped the first and played the 2nd, had no trouble playing the 3rd and understanding the story.

Maybe watch a story summary on the first game on youtube or something.

Don't let the whole "download thing" scare you. The screens take like five seconds to download and are from filedropper
BMPs are just a waste of file space and are only good for capturing because they save incredibly fast. Converting to PNG or 100% quality JPGs is a no-brainer though, and then you can just upload to an image host instead of bothering people to download individual files.

The BMP for this looks exactly the same.

Feel free to compare them if you want...

And after 4 million sales, I think it's safe to say that the "downgrade thing" is scaring no one.

And here's a 4K shot straight from the gameplay camera.

Just one question, where do I get the diagrams for the Glyphs in the middle. I have all the runestone diagrams and lesser and greater glyphs, but the middle ones are still missing.

Tried to google it, but can't seem to find locations.

EDIT: Okay, I'm officially blind, I already have the diagrams, but the whole thing seems to be buggy because I can't craft them

I know this is negligible but I can't stand that Roach's stamina starts to drain even before he reaches a gallop.

Just turn off the horse stamina bar. His noises and animations clue you in, and most of the time the bar is pretty useless since it just regenerates in seconds anyway. More immersive without it, and you won't by annoyed by it popping up.

So after completing the game a few days ago and wandering around a bit I've still only fought one Nightwraith the entire game. Basic Full Moon potion will forever be my shame.

Xbox 1 here. So the quest "now or never" is bugged for me. Everytime I have to fight off the guards at the end, my game exits out to the dashboard forcing me to restart. EVERY time now. Is my game bugged?

So it appears my game is bugged. I've experienced a game breaking bug on Xbox, that nobody else has encountered. Basically all my saves are ruined now. Fucking shit.

So, ending spoiler stuff.
Kaer Morhen is super duper abandoned now, and given that they don't make new Witchers any more shit's kind of fucked for Witchers huh?

Today I had a lot of free time so I decided that after taking care of some loose ends I'd finally move on to Skellige.
Several hours later, I'm still in Novigrad...
One thing just leads to another, sometimes you just walk into sidequests while heading to an objective, it's an endless string of events.
As a huge Witcher fan I couldn't be happier.
I want to thank CDPR once again for this incredible masterpiece.
I'm so glad the game is such a success.

High Stakes

doing it at level 15, seems I'm locked in. Hope there isn't more combat after fighting the elf, guessing there is though with Sasha looking to complicate things

1st match was really weird, the guy absolutely battered me, got his score above mine with me having used all my cards, then he did something that lowered his own score and caused me to win :s

I think that may be a bug or intentional. I remember someone here a few days ago posted a video of that very same scenario you described.

Noooo, I now have a failed quest because glitches!

Cave of Dreams decided to hop on over to failed quests even though I had it completed and no longer in my quest list. Guess it's a glitch related to King's Gambit...

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Man do you think there's any chance we'll get a toggle to turn off auto-center on the camera?

God it's driving me nuts. Especially on the horse. It kicks in immediately. At least on foot you get a few seconds before it resets.

This is far and away my number one gripe with the game.

And btw the camera still stutters during pans on horseback, just not as bad as before.

Completed the main story and really didn't like my ending. :(

Ciri went trough the beam into some ice world, maybe died there? Geralt killed the last crone and found Ciri's/Vesemir's medallion. The end.

I know that having sex with Yen and Triss (and the other mage) was a huge fault but is there any chance to save Ciri by playing the last battle again? I said nothing when she told me she wants to save the world, maybe I should've forbidden her?
