I wonder if it has something to do with this...

Just for info was taken from a GameStop POS. Managers regularly receive manager kits filled with trinkets to hype launches.

I hope whatever they're working on (banjo 3) turns out to be really good. 3D platforming needs to make its comeback.

I fully expect a new Banjo tomorrow.

If they do it, I hope it is a full scale AAA game. If they can get an amazing platform Mario type of game, it would be great to balance out the Xbox One's library. I love those type of games and would welcome it big time!

I for one don't evangelize the old rare library so I'd be content with whatever they produce as long as its something fun, novel, and fills gaps currently missing in our current Gen libraries. Basically Nintendoesque games on the XBOX. I'm ready.

Maybe the rebranding signifies a change in focus worthy of a rebirth.

So...what does this logo mean?

Are all the team members who made such gems like Perfect Dark back with Rare? Because if not, I don't see any reason to get hyped over a retro logo.
Perhaps it's a visual message that Rare as a studio will be back making real games from their IP backlog.

What did you guys think of the logo itself? Only I think it's some weird ass shit? I can barely understand what exactly it's supposed to be. Sure, it's the classic R, but I don't particularly like how the colors are displayed judging from that pic.

I mean, wut? Is it supposed to look like double Rs? I can't unsee it as a broken piece of the full classic logo.

So it seems like Rare is coming back to making core games, and if this is really their new logo, then I think it signifies that Rare could be back. :p

Just because a lot of the old talent is gone it doesn't mean that they can't make a good game. There's talent all over the industry. Some of you guys are acting like the people they've hired recently all have no skills or game making experience whatsoever. Remember that most of their SNES and N64 games were also made by people who were fairly new to the company at the time. For example, Goldeneye was made by a team that mostly consisted of inexperienced developers, and it turned out to be one of the most revolutionary and innovative games of all time.

I'm excited for E3 tomorrow. Hopefully Rare will deliver and show what they're capable of. :)

@hippo: Microsoft just realized that Rare cannot use the full Rareware logo until it has released Banjo-Threeie. They still want to signify that this will happen soon. Or so I hope.

Why yall do this to yourselves? Rare is dead for the most part. 100% sure you will be disappointed tomorrow. 100%.

10 hours from now we will see. I refuse to call a company where the main guy behind one of the best games ever created is responsible for their next game dead by mere pessimism.

Retro Rare

This lucky guy has no achievements yet, chances are he can play through the greatest Xbox game for his first time during E3!
I think with most of the Microsoft published stuff he plays them on a debug console, which explains zero achievements in most of them.

1. It's an indication of their direction. No more kinect so were all hyped
2. UK is full of talent and Rare are a prestigious studio
3. It's almost time :)

PS: Please try to keep the "is there even anyone from the old days" posts at a minimum.

Except it's a perfectly valid point. Do you think that talent has persisted there after years of Kinect projects? Resurrecting the name or rebranding is borderline pointless at this stage.

How is it valid to say they don't have no talent tho. It's like saying whoever born in the last 20-30 years can't make games for shit

It's valid for any studio but its been brought up in every Rare thread for since they moved to MS, even when they had a lot of the old talent so its tiresome and gets in the way of the topic. Which is really about their possible embracing of traditional games.

The people who've left haven't done anything special or at least not for what they were known for at Rare, so just drop this overplayed argument or at least discuss it elsewhere. Not here though.

HYPE ! This pin gives me chills ! Bring it on !

(Last night, I dreamt about Rare announcing "Mini moles" a brand new IP for Xbox One, 8 hours left, it can't come soon enough ...)

Best way to reveal Banjo-Threeie is by showing that fake nuts and bolts teaser they did but this time, it's for real.
