Its actually a super fun mechanic in Titanfall. It works well there because the game is fast and frenetic and because getting kills isn't too hard. What I'd worry about in Halo is a scenario where you finally get to use your Spartan Laser card but then get wrecked by a surprise Warthog thus having your card go to total waste. That happens in TF but you have so many cards and its easier to get kills so you'll at least get one or two in before dying.

Oh, yeah. Wasn't saying it was a bad thing. I actually enjoy most of the burner cards in Titanfall.

In something as frantic as this mode I don't think it'd matter if someone was running around with camo or super thrusters or playing as an Elite or something like that. It'd all be pretty cool, actually.

I wonder what kind of aesthetic unlocks there are. Armor Effects coming back?

It wasn't directed as an insult. I was genuinely curious.
FF7 came out in 1997, 18 years ago. So someone young enough to not have that, or the other games, be an impact to their childhood probably wouldn't be shitting their pants over it.

Me though, I have already gone through my supply of adult diapers.

Ive played all of the relevant games, FFVII, Shenmue 1/2, and ICO/SOTC

But the criticisms are fair, announcing a game is exciting absolutely, but what actual meat was there? IMO, not that much.

Thats why I said, I thought MS better represented their console for the nearest consumer future, which is what E3 is all about.

I would feel better buying an Xbox right now than a PS4, they had games coming out this year, nice side benefits from multiplats, improvements to their OS, weird VR partnerships I dont understand, etc

Theres no denying Sony has a great platform, but they gave me no reason to buy one in the next year+ today

Halo campaign showing was bleh also, but stage demos have to be encompassing so it gets a pass. Also I imagine showing anything from Chiefs side would reveal important story info, think about it, in the Locke demo, we watched for 6 minutes gained absolutely zero story information.
Perfect E3 demo, show all the features, reveal no details.

edit: im tired and didnt mean to argue with grumpy coffee link, i love you all. goodnight.

Bethesda's still stands as the best conference in my mind, but that's mostly because Sony's bombshells don't hold much significance for me personally. It does seem like they read GAF's wish list and checked off items one by one though.
Looking forward to Nintendo Direct tomorrow.

Bethesda definitely won out with best overall conference. That Doom and Fallout 4 tho.

peep the level. you get the exp from killing and objectives, and I'm willing to bet requisitions are tiered by level. So even if you have the points or cards or whatever, you still have to wait until you're a high enough level to redeem it. That's just how it appears to me.

plus, the more special cards are most likely consumable, since you earn them in area as well as Warzone.

That part is pretty clear. You have to earn the points, and there's a ceiling that goes up as the match progresses. So even if you get a Killtac in the first 30 seconds you aren't using those points to get a Scorpion tank.

But this looks like even though the BR doesn't cost you any points (the Banshee and Sword cards had a clear point values), you still have X amount of cards. This also makes it look like the Unlimited Use/Single Use is another layer that limits how many of a type of card you can use outside the point system. For example, you only get to use one Banshee card the whole match, even if you have the points to buy six and the cards in your stack.

oh, I gotta ask something real quick, for either Frank or Josh or whoever may know (tashi plz):
What is this green thing this dude dropped when he died? This was from the clueless gamer.

I then assumed it was some sort of overshield, as you can see a waypoint for one in this image (on the left):
Just wondering if anyone has any sort of idea as to what it might be.

I doubt anyone cares, but I just figured out that in Spartan Ops epsiode 6-3, all of the enemies are supposed to be sleeping in the start, but during the starting cutscene, all the sleeping enemies jolt awake. This makes doing the one button easter egg that sends missiles down on the enemies impossible.

Now we know.

Full 15 minutes of Warzone gameplay via IGN

Quick Thoughts:
  • Gives a good sense of how the rec card system works.
  • I kinda wish there were some way to tell players vs AI on the motion tracker. I'm never gonna know how seriously to take those red dots.
  • Carbine looks awesome.
  • There's some footage of a Promethean turret, which looks like a turret.
  • The new kill feed is awesome. Headshots and perfect kills are noted in the kill feed with a target or star symbol.
  • The perfect kill medal doesn't come with a Steitzer announcement anymore it seems.

So how does fit in with the lore? Is it all a simulation? SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE SENSE OF THIS

Promethean turret is called Splinter Turret. Looks like it kinda works like H4 incineration cannon. Hits the ground then explodes into little bits.

I'm not gonna lie. Warzone (and Halo 5 in general) look fucking awesome. Hopefully there are more areal vehicles. I miss the Hornet.

If 343 were to add water vehicles... damn.

Also, does the inclusion of AI in Warzone mean forgeable AI...?

I find it genuinely confusing that so many people are acting this harsh against MS' conference.
It was a good showing, guys.

People are saying MS conference was bad? Did these people also forget that Microsoft cut half their surprises and games to show off at Gamescom? Crackdown, Scalebound, Quantum Break as well as other surprises.

That looked absolutely terrible.

All of those pros working at 343 and we're stuck watching this? lol

The AI looked about on par with TF, in that it just sits there while you destroy it.

One negative with Warzone. Seems like Spartan Ops and Firefight cut, meaning aside from the campaign, there will be nothing for lone wolves to do. Sometimes it's nice to just have something to do against the enemy for a short while aka Firefight, Spartan Ops without playing with other players.

Why the campaign demo bothered people: it's not just that they didn't see what they wanted to see, it's that they saw what they wanted to not see.

Yeah, I don't know if that was a smart move. I mean, E3 is a huge event, and showing off Scalebound, Quantum Break, and Crackdown would've generated a lot of buzz, and those 3 would've helped with the pacing of the conference.

You start off with Halo 5, then a new IP in Recore (unfortunately it was CG), and then BAM. Backwards compatibility, new controller, and Fallout 4 with mods coming. EA Access with free Titanfall and soon Dragon Age. Pretty good so far.

Then CG for Garden Warfare 2, Forza 6, and DS3. Meh. We get back to gameplay with the Division and Siege.

Back to CG with Gigantic, and then an indie reel. We get info on Early Access on Xbox and a few games that'll be in the program.

Tomb Raider shows up, and then Rare's 30th anniversary collection and Sea of Thieves, Fable Legends, Minecraft Hololens, Gears 1 remastered and then finally Gears 4.

The entire middle section was extremely boring and footage of those 3 games sprinkled around there would've made this an amazing E3 conference. The low moments would be far between each other to have really noticed until later viewing or thought. One thing Sony's conference had over Microsoft's was pacing. "Megatons" were everywhere and any low moments were overshadowed by said "megatons".

Can't wait for Nintendo's!

Care to elaborate on the latter?
Constant chatty story moments. Setpiece explodey running sequence, including an "ohnoez I'm hanging on the edge" moment that takes control away from the player in a rather unconvincing attempt at tension. The same scripted "wreck the player character at the end of the demo" thing that every other game this E3 is doing.

It's the same manner of stuff that actively annoyed a lot of people in Halo 4.

Initially warzone looked cool, but the details are really turning me off. Getting the needed powerweapons and vehicles for the gamemode through random card packs? I totally see them selling card packs for $$$, seems like they found another way to finance their mp dlc maps. It was already a big problem in H4 when the other team got a good amount of amazing powerweapons through personal ordanance while your team is getting useless stuff. Now it's the same thing, how should you fight back if the enemy team got a huge amount of cards for powerful weapons?

The vidoc totally screams that 343i hat not learned what players hated about Halo 4s multiplayer, against the vidoc it is not fun when everything is exploding and everbody got a powerweapon. Even big modes should be all about skill, that's why Invasion was so amazing that it became one of the most active playlists in Reach.

I already see it being very frustrating when you just dont get good RNG cards. Who really needs Storm Rifle oder Plasma Repeater cards if you have AR+Magnum starts?

Oh and collecting armor for the game through random card packs? That sucks, hide them behind difficult achievements and stuff, not RNG...

Fair enough, but so long as the final bossfight isn't relegated to a quicktime sequence again i'll be happy.
