weird doesnt quite do it justice.
intriguingly quirky maybe.
this show really did some unique things. Ultimately, it poked fun at some human tendencies and ugly truths while also making it kind of endearing.
but mostly it was wacky fun.
Looks like a pretty solid set.
DFrag!! Hilarious, extremely cute, out of control, and requires little thought to enjoy!

This is very true - I've already seen it before, but it's definitely hilarious. It's a very odd show, making whole story arcs out of details that at first seem throwaway or superfluous, certainly not the generic SoL anime I thought it was going to be.
Well this isn't part 3 so who knows.

(It doesn't feel as "energetic" as the JP voices to me. They're playing it too straight instead of emphasizing the absurdity.)
I pretty sure Dio said Muda and Wrrrrry in Phantom Blood.
I'm pretty sure he did not.
He did both in the final battle versus Jonathan in the castle. Of course we have no dub clips for those so who knows how the dub handled them.

I had no expectations going in, but I ended up thinking this was pretty solid.
Yuu being an asshole gave me a few laughs, I couldn't stop thinking he was the love child of Lelouch x Kanie. He seems like he'll be an interesting main character, as we're also shown a more 'soft' side.
His sister was adorable, and most of the cast seems likable for a first impression. I'm not sure what to expect plot wise but I'm in for more.

Okay, yeah, I really like this show's brand of humor. The Mediator and Assistant are great and don't take anything too seriously which makes this great. It like to have fun with itself. Hopefully I can get through all of it today...

Well the OP was better then the first X2 opening, but it still doesn't have the same flair the S1 openings had.
Episode mostly revolved around Izaya (without Shizuo oddly enough) and sets up the plot lines for this cour. Decent opening episode overall.

Gatchaman Crowds Insight - #00 Inbound
Enjoyable! That's about all I can say about it, since it isn't much more than a teaser for the new season while bridging it with the first season. I'm glad that the tone and the enthusiasm is in-tact, and that Hajime is still filled with positive energy even with that jerk inside of her. Looks like the story this time is going to deal with malcontents operating in the shadows trying to destablize society even after a sort of peaceful utopia was reached. An analogy to ISIS in the Gatchaman world? Should be interesting!

Oh I didn't mean it in a bad way. It's good weird. I like good weird. Makes the show fun and unique. If the show can keep up this amount of fun for the rest of my viewing experience I will be very happy.

So I just watched Girls und Panzer and was wondering if there's other shows like it? I just started Soranowoto and I'm really digging it (love the art, love the mix of military and slice of life). I remember seeing a gif in one of the a of the year threads that looked really similar to Girls und Panzer, but it was with tiny girls shooting rifles instead of tanks. Any idea what that show might be?
I think you might have had a displeasure of seeing a gif from Strike Witches. Which you should stay very far away from. (Do note that googling that title will in all likelihood bring NFSW results.)
Edit: Or not if it was in AoTY thread.

I really forgot how comfy and relaxing this anime is, it's really good. It's great to watch especially if your a bit burnt off on the action, dark, edgy, and ecchi shows. Nice Beach episode that didn't have any unnecessary shitty fanservice. It reminded me of the Beach episode in Barakamon.

Symphogear GX 01
Ok, the first scene in this is Chris makes two huge rockets then Tsubasa and Hibiki jump on them and ride them, so it's basically the ending of Just Cause 2 and Dr. Strangelove. Then they punch a hole in K2, making it the third highest mountain in the world now. Amazing.
I guess every Symphogear first episode needs an idol concert where bad shit happens. New villain loves to pose, which is great. The other is a Touhou or something.

Thanks for the guesses! I was browsing through the old AOTY threads hoping to see the gif again, but I haven't found it yet (don't remember what year it was, or if it was in a voting or results thread :\). After looking up similar anime for Girls und Panzer, I'm pretty sure the gif was from either Strike Witches or Stella Women's Academy. But looking a little bit at both of those shows, I don't think I'd be a fan of either. Thanks for the help, though, I really appreciate it!

Don't watch Kancolle, go for Arpeggio of Blue Steel, GuP and Arpeggio even have same VA to voice the heroine.

Still though seeing the bottle scene animated will be hilarious.
I don't necessarily disagree but there will be little of her in this season.
If Stella is a suspect than it also could have been Sabagebu. Fairly popular, Girls x Guns show from the past year, pretty likely that there was a gif of it in AoTY thread.
There was also a "Military !" show but I haven't seen a second of it.
I think you are talking about Upotte. All the girls are named after rifles.

Gatchaman Crowds Insight - Episode 1
Really, really, really loved this. They really did a great job introducing the new characters without forgetting about any of the old characters either. The emphasis on society, character motivations/personalities, and the "what makes people tick" angle is what I really enjoyed about Crowds, and it's all front and center in this opening episode. Tsubasa is a great new character, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her dynamic with Hajime pan out. It's a really smart decision to make Tsubasa a "genki" character as well, because on the surface she initially seems a lot like Hajime, but as things progress it becomes clear that they're pretty different. Both have a positive outlook on life, but while Hajime is completely driven by her personality alone, Tsubasa is more of a normal person who has family, hopes, dreams, and reactions to things as they happen. She gets angry and disappointed, surprised and shocked, etc.
Hajime would just shrug it all off because her mentality is such that she can only see the best in everything, even to her own detriment, and yet that is also her shield. It was also what allowed her to truly understand and relate to the threat in the first Crowds season because the villain was essentially insane. It looks like the villain(s) in Insight are intended to be more human and to explore the darker side of society, and if so, it might take someone more socially adjusted to help tackle this problem. Tsubasa seems like a great candidate in that respect.
Also, with the introduction of the new alien character and her ability to turn emotions visible, it seems that the series is going for a deeper level of connectivity. In Crowds, the GALAX and CROWDS systems were meant to elevate social media as a phenomenon into something that truly connects people beyond just information - allowing crowd sourcing to make the world a better place in an actual practical way. In Insight, perhaps what we will see is that connection apply to emotions as well. If we can assess the emotional state of other people visibly, and see how our actions and emotions can affect and change that state in others, wouldn't it lead to an even deeper understanding of each other and bring society even closer together?
I'm glad they're playing up the celebrity of the heroes too. I really dislike sequels which try to push a reset button and ignore major shifts in the worldview setting, and Insight is doing anything but that. Great stuff.

Symphogear GX episode 1
Yes, I can affirm that THIS is a Symphogear episode.
1. Opening with over the top antics. Had a great laugh 3 minutes in with the
K2 mountain
2. Mizuki Nana (and other voice actresses) blessing us with sweet vocals
3. Revamped transformation
4. First episode involves a large scale concert
5. Spectators and main characters thought 3rd time's the charm and thought NOTHING MAJOR WAS GOING TO HAPPEN (OBVIOUSLY) and attended the main concert anyway.
6. New characters, which are probably going to be "befriended" Nanoha-style by the end.
6. Line from worst girl which includes a reference about "this isn't an anime!". Yeesh.
Get ready to buckle up your seatbelts boys and girls, for another glorious season of Symphogear.
Already preparing my aspirin in case I try to make sense of the villains motivations.

Honestly, this aint doing much for me though I can see why some would like it.
Her boobs are ridiculously big too.
Now this Im interested in. Havent been properly trolled in a while! But if Im aware of the joke it could lose some appeal too. But it looks like fun anyway.
