Yeah okay I kinda get what Fireface was talking about. If i had just seen that and had not previously read the manga I'd conclude that Umaru was basically just a brat and her brother a doormat. Too much sour and not enough sweet for a first episode.

Still, apart from some minor pacing problems (the look how amazing she is at school! chapter dragged a little), seems a decent enough adaption.

Not Gekkan Shoujo tier tho

A couple of days ago some people here were saying Zankyou no Terror didn't end up being very good. Now, I stopped watching it around episode three because I thought the premise was too silly for the tone and the way the police acted after a major terrorist attack wasn't exactly believable, but I was under the impression that most people enjoyed it. What exactly went wrong with it? Did it just have a bad or inconclusive ending or something?

It goes further down the rabbit whole of unbelievability and anime nonsense. And ended up pretty lacking in meaningful character development. There are a fair number of people who still enjoyed it, but it was a disappointment to many here.

Ah, that's a shame then. I remember lots of people being excited for it - myself included - but it doesn't really surprise me that it got overly nonsensical based on what I saw.

That last page. Rip.

In the deep dark seasons of eastern animation
That's the place where I talk about waifus
And it's there I read on a hillside gravestone
You'll never leave animegaf alive.

The way the Japanese government in that show acted after a major terrorist attack in the early episodes was one of the more believable things about it. We even have the precedent of the 1995 sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subway to go off of.

The show is somewhat over-the-top, but I was enjoying it a lot through the first five episodes or so. Unfortunately, the plot largely gets derailed by the introduction of another character that leads the show into sillier diversions that severely stretch the setting's credibility, muddy its political messages, and detract from the development of other central characters.

I still like Zankyou no Terror just on the strength of its directing and use of its excellent soundtrack, but it's not what it could have been.

SNAFU S1 & 2 Final Thoughts

Hey I'm hooked. The comedy isn't overbearing and the straight man/deadpan of Hikki never got tiresome for me. I won't say every character is great, but many of them started as one thing and ended up getting some depth to them that made them completely interesting. ie Hayato. Of course the highlight of the show is Hikki, he makes for a fantastic lead. I also appreciated that the little sister, while still animefied, was easily one of the better sisters in a male lead anime. If I can't have Hyouka this is an ok replacement of brooding antisocial interesting lead who has a certain genius to him.

Which reminds me I need to rewatch Hyouka soon it's been a while.

You should watch Texhnolyze for a brooding antisocial interesting lead who has a certain genius to him. ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º) <wink wink, nudge nudge>

Mind you, I had already lost my faith in Zankyou no Terror at that point, but I was flabbergasted when
they blew up this emp bomb
and played it like nothing major, when in reality
the loss of electricity in a major city would likely result in several thousand deaths in no time.

But you know, can't be logical about that, we've got to sympathize with these poor excuses of characters.

By that, I meant more how the police station just let some stranger walk in under the pretense of delivering a pizza, without checking him, despite the fact that there'd just been a major terrorist attack and the perpetrators hadn't been caught yet. I don't remember taking much issue with the detective character or how they dealt with the incident itself, but that specific instance stuck out to me as being off.

Same here, I still love many episode as individual piece too bad as whole its not merging as something cohesive.. but I look forward to rewatch the series again, I love the directing and pacing in the episodes, so smooth.

While I have not been in Japan in the wake of a terrorist attack, I can say that I never encountered any sort of security checkpoint in my time there outside of an airport. There's significantly less security theater there than in America, where it's all over the place.

If they were able to pull something like that on a major government building right afterwards it would be surprising, but it didn't seem that shocking to me that a smaller institution like a police station wouldn't have posted major security checkpoints on the entrances, especially at a time of increased police activity. The illusion of harmony that comes with not having burdensome security checks is as important to maintain as actual safety.

i feel okay with this decision

Whoa, what happened to dimb on the last page?

Hunter X Hunter 001

Now that I'm on break I can finally see this show that everyone has been telling me to watch. The first episode is the standard introduction of character and setting, so nothing really notable. That will dwfinitely change from what I've heard. Can't wait!

It definetly does change later on. Enjoy the ride! It's one of my favorite shounen shows.

Yeah, that makes sense, especially given that there isn't much of a precedent for terrorists specifically attacking the police - viewing it more as inexperience rather than ignorance makes what happens clearer to me. I still would've preferred it had the police been more aware within the station though.

Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! - 2
To be honest....
this is actually pretty good. It give me plot in both ways, and I ain't going to complain.

This made my morning 1000x better, uguu~~... uguu~~

Sabagebu! 7

No long hair to frame her face leaves Miou looking like a really poorly drawn cyclops. A good fit for this season.

This episode was really really funny, especially when Momo realizes how crazy girls can be.

You have excellent taste Arcy!

Thanks Cajun!

One of the funniest things I have ever seen, simply amazing.

This is absolutely fantastic! C'mon CR.... or even Funi.... someone pick up Suzakinishi.

And unfortunately, we bear witness to a ban. Rest in Peace, Dimb. Stay safe everyone, if Save 'N Quit can show restraint, we can all survive!

so instead of watching new shows or indeed shows i've already been watching (for like a few months at this point) i started up non non biyori s1 again instead

I just got done watching it before S2 aired, so worth it.

Yeah, this wasn't funny in the slightest. The episode actually felt tortuously long.

That's my feeling on this, in that it wasn't really funny and the format seems more oriented around 5 minute shorts rather than 20+ minutes.

At this point, there's just not much there.

calm down. MAybe its your connection? Mine hasnt been doing that on CR. It does freeze sometimes though if I pause too long.

New key visual for the Date A Live movie:

Also, a good (NSFW) reason to get an advance ticket. Release date is 22 August.

I wish this had the witch girl in it too.

Funnily enough, the PS3 app changes resolution on the fly like mad but the PS4 app is solid. Not too fond of the web app as it does freeze all the time so I kinda set it to 720p as a precaution most of the time.

I was actually starting to get worried they weren't even going to finish the flashback but no, it's finally happening.

...

Two weeks from now.

Too bad the staff for next ep isn't anything special and the preview doesn't look like anything special. Goddamn you Pierrot, it's the last worthwhile event in this manga. ;_; Don't ruin this.

Rokka no Yuusha-

Episode was fine blah blah blah. I just wanted to point out that I had issues with one particular scene in the episode, when the Princess/Maid talked with Adlet in the prison cell. My problem with the scene is that there are many useless camera angles that don't further our understanding of the characters nor their relationships.

Shots like these:

A number of the shots revolve around the bars and the circular hole in the bar but don't really tell the audience anything. For example with the overhead shot, there is a large amount of space between the two characters which might symbolize separation or emotional distance but that's not reflected in the dialogue. There are a couple of shots in which you can interpret the Princess as being caged but it's overused so much that any sort of symbolic foreshadowing is lost.
4sZ6oMA.jpg

A literal boob window hole. Although I suppose it foreshadows the flower location.
This sequence felt like the storyboarder knew this part was kinda boring and dry and didn't know how to spice it up so threw in a bunch of random and pointless camera angle shifts. I understand there are limitations in what the storyboarder can do when one party is in jail but the framing just seemed exceptionally bad in this part.

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions S2 ep. 7-END:
tumblr_n7adlhmeuo1snhlvjo1_500.gif

I love the color of her eyes in this gif...

OK, I'll agree with everyone here; this was a big step down from Season 1. It was entertaining in a SoL kinda way, but even in the end, there was only a small step forward in character developement and story. I guess that was the creative story they were going for, or they were trying to keep the idea open for a third season. In the end, there was a very cute moment, but just felt meh in the grand scheme of things.... It's a shame because I enjoyed the first season with it's mix of feel good moments and comedy. Both where limited in the 2nd season. Overall, it's an enjoyable ride, but still a letdown from the Season 1 closing as I thought they were going to go deeper into watching Rikka outgrow and overcome her Chunibyo and deepen her relationship with her man. Instead, we got a demi- love triangle, teanage angst and some SoL fun.

lol yeah, and I doubt
it would have been possible to evacuate everyone on time, and the economic havoc would have been enormous.

There are good things about it but like everyone else I think it was quiet disappointing. Credibility stretched is very correct assessment.

Gakkou Gurashi 01

Oh well they really try to mislead people til last moment of first episode.
But honestly, before that part the SoL is good at first, but feels kinda boring later because it's way longer than manga, and it's adaption show, so many people already know about what's going to happen.

That show had really strong direction at times and the music was fantastic, but the writing really let it down.

Then again, we're talking about experts here! They burned down an entire skyscraper in the middle of the day without anyone getting seriously injured. Must have had mad debris controlling skills too!

This show permeates this laughable "Yes, they're terrorists but they're actually good guys, you see? No one innocent is getting hurt by them!" message. What a pile of dogshit. (no offense to dawg!)

Laggy crunchyroll is torture. I don't want to hear any of this calm down shit. If it takes you an hour to watch a twenty two minute video and you can't even just sit there and let it buffer there something fucking wrong. When your performance is worse than if I just went to some random streaming site I begin to question why I sub at all.

Before you ask my hardware and my internet are monsters and it was working perfectly fine until what I'm guessing is an American onpeak traffic hour or something like that.

Hmm, not sure it's American on peak traffic or anything like that. I'd just recommend to try out other browsers or something, especially if you have "monster" internet and hardware.

Not sure what the deal is dude. I've been streaming on Crunchyroll with an unsupported and/or updated Kindle version and have not had any issues at all today.

(that's what she said..... hehehehe, so childish..)

Welcome. Kick your shoes off, put your feet on the desk, relax and have a good time. Oh and share your anime experiences.... A LOT!

Which means you have to go watch Clannad & Clannad After Story right away to fit in properly if you haven't already, feel the pain, love and pure emotion and share with us all. Oh, then you have to $hit on SAO and Kirito like he killed your family...Once you have done that, you have been properly initiated with those blood sweat and tears and anime..
