Saw this while I was at SDCC and broke down crying.

Iwata was such an important influence on my childhood. To think of how much he's endured in the last few months full knowing of his situation yet continuing to smile and lead is just heart wrenching.

Rest in peace Mr. Iwata. May Nintendo continue to follow your vision of focusing on fun first, business second.

I would also like a ribbon please.

I've tried to step away numerous times but I need to read and post about this with all my fell GAFers. Have to get through this kind of stuff together - I'm not strong enough to think about it while trying to do other stuff.

Yea, I keep trying step away but just can't seem to focus. Even though a lot of the thoughts make me sad, a lot make me smile.

Man, a second wave of disbelief has really washed over me, just when I thought I was coming to terms with it.

I'm going to go to bed and wake up tomorrow in a new era for Nintendo with one of its brightest lights put out forever. No more Iwata asks, no more Directs, no more confidents that he would slowly and obstinately lead the company in the best direction for the long-term future, no matter the short-term frustrations.

It will be a new, dimmer world for Nintendo fans tomorrow.

I imagine a lot of us around the world had this exact same reaction. And yes, his continued performance and effort somehow makes it harder to take. I just wish that effort had been rewarded with a good reaction to the last e3.

As Kojima might say, I feel ashamed of some of my words and deeds now.

I would like to request a ribbon too, please.

I became a true Nintendo fan right before Iwata became President, so throughout my gaming life as a Nintendo fan, he's been there. This hurts a lot to know that such an important figure to an industry that needs people like him is gone.

I'm crying. Why? How? I can't... =( NO...I REALLY HOPED IT WAS A JOKE OR WHATEVER... WTF. WTF !!!!!!

Same reaction when I 1st saw the headlines here on GAF. Then, the rationality part of my brain started putting 2 and 2 together: his health and his disappearance from key industry events...it was just like Steve Jobs all over again :(

Wow that's Really sad
He looked over some of Nintendos best days with the Wii and really took gaming to almost every household, inspiring many new minds for future video games. Rest In Peace

I just can't believe this...

RIP and thank you for everything Iwata.

If someone could add a ribbon to my avatar it would be much appreciated.

Normally I'd be sleeping right now to get some rest for tomorrow's workday, but man, this really has me bummed out.

=(
Yeah I should have been in bed a couple hours ago. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day at work. Luckily I don't work with other gamers so maybe I won't think about it too much. I don't see much sleep in my near future.

I can't believe it. Fuck. :(

EDIT: It'd be nice if someone could give my avatar such a ribbon.

Let's not, this thread is about Iwata and us honoring him. Let's not mess this up by bringing up anyone else, especially a polarizing figure like Jobs.

I don't think he's drawing any comparison other than the way cancer diminishes your physical appearance.

Oh god, this is so depressing. Seriously flabbergasted.

Just imagining what Nintendo will look like going forward...his absence at the next E3

What the fuck is the next Nintendo Direct going to be like?

I saw a post about it on tumblr and i thought it was a fucked up joke but then I kept seeing more and more so I came here to check and :(

Nobody in the industry has the same passion for video games as he had..

Everything he said always filled me with hope and interest.

RIP Mr Iwata. You helped me to continue enjoying video games.

Man, I remember when Steve Jobs died, people donated used Apple products or even new Apple products over at Apple HQ in Cupertino. Will the public be able to do something similar with Nintendo products in Kyoto?

People criticise it, but I love the Wii U, the gamepad is a really great thing. I'm browsing GAF on it right now.

Thanks for everything Iwata.

Same here. I keep linking things from this thread to a friend of mine as I go through these posts.

Yes I'm aware, I still think we shouldn't be bringing up other people in this thread like this. So I'm going to stop discussing this after this post.
