Bloodborne |OT++++| Now with Trusty Patches

Yeah the no-buff thing kind of sucks, not gonna stick with it but there's not a huge variety at this point in the game. Will probably alternate between that and the Saw Spear until I can get something better. I just can't get used to the play style of the Cane.
It probably took me till Amelia to really understand the Cane, that whole fight must have been a wicked "Ah ha" moment for me, but the Rifle Spear is legit. You can either keep it or use it until you find the Reiterpallasch in Cainhurst, which is what I did. Reiter can be buffed and it's pretty good using the transform mode for attacking since it attacks in a horizontal fashion. Though in normal mode the thrust attacks do more damage and it's great on the blue alien dudes. It doesn't even take that long to get, can easily get it once you unlock Forbidden Woods and nab the shortcut you Iosefka's, just remember to beat the Witches first so you can go to Cainhurst, if you're confident enough you can even run through there and get Evelyn too like I did.

I hate trying to get there. I can never get the location for my roll right and end up spin dashing to my death like a half ass sonic player.

Yeah, it took me three tries even on NG+.

On a side note, a friend of mine directed this thread to me, and it's pretty interesting eventhough it might not have influenced BB. There's a plenty of similarities though.

Possible Bloodborne inspiration?
Before I start explaining my theory here I would kindly ask you to understand that I am not forcing any ideas, just showing what I have stumbled upon, it may be 'something' but is likely just wrong turn or just coincidence. I am not sure if this is connected in any way with Bloodborne or it is just my imagination.

For me it all started with curiosity in Bloodborne with tombstones written in Polish language in Hemwick Charnel Lane.

After playing Bloodborne instead of going to sleep I decided to watch one of the old Polish movies that I have on my personal "film bucket list". It is called SANATORIUM POD KLEPSYDRĄ from year 1973.
The first scenes gave me goose bumps, not because it was scary but due to the fact that the atmosphere and looks were strongly reminding me of one of our favorite games. For such an old movie, limited funds and censorship in Poland at that time scenography is simply outstanding.
I only say that there is a slight chance that From Software could have get inspiration from this movie and original book.

The movie is based on one of short novels by Bruno Schulz. Story line seems to be totally irrelevant to Bloodborne. And for most of its length this film is irrelevant to Bloodborne as well. Except it's looks.

The movie is highly surrealistic so there is still many things I might have missed due to the fact that the characters of the movie seems to talk in riddles.

Ok, after suffering from withdrawal ever since Witcher 3 came out, today I finally go back to this masterpiece. I missed you so much, buddy <3

Holy shit, this is amazing! Too bad there aren't english subs, but I actually might watch it anyway just because it looks incredible. Can't be a coincidence with the amount of stuff that seems straight out of it, and From Soft artists even say they prefer to create using references than just coming up with random stuff. Which is the reason we have so much Berserk stuff in the games, I guess.

Found few more images of the film by googling.

The middle one reminds me of the creatures in Byrgenwerth.

As for waifus...

Edit: Cainhurst?

Sweet Merciful Christ, that art direction. That woman reminds me of crazy ass Adella a bit. That can't be Cainhurst since he's not being immediately pounced on by tick women. Lol I'm still waiting for ENB to complete his Reckfast series without dying, dude gets killed by the most random things at times.

I think he knows about how to get to Paarl (He mentioned it was his second play through) but was confused since you need to beat the Blood Starved Beast in the first place to get the Kidnappers to appear, which means you have to go through Old Yharnam and get shot at by Djura at least once.

Luckily this doesn't lock you out of befriending him.

Yea I basically forgot how to navigate a big chunk of the game. Beat
Rom
super early and fucked up 90 percent of all the npc story lines in the initial playthrough.

Anyone up for some co-op? I could use some help at the boss I'm on right now (Ebrietas). She's not hard in and of herself but I don't seem to be doing any damage to her at all right now and this is the first time that's really happened with a boss.

My PSN tag is Mugiwara2k, feel free to add me, even if you can't play at the moment.

If no one is up helping you and you haven't beaten her yet by then, I can help you on the usual time :)

Repeating Pistol +10 with BMA eats her like breakfast :D

Sounds good, I haven't found anyone else to play with so I'll probably be taking up that offer.

I've tried getting behind her but her swipes seem to hit me ocassionally and attacking from the front works great until she does that charge attack, which is practically unavoidable from what I've seen so far.

Also, what level should I be for her? I'm 66 right now and I'm doing like no damage to her whatsoever, the amount of stikes I do would kill any other boss but I can barely get 20% of her health down. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. It's all the more annoying since she's not a hard boss, and it's literally the lack of damage that's doing me in.

As long as you're not being OHKO'd by the charge attack you'll be fine, just heal afterwards and keep baiting her headslam so you can attack her head. That's how I managed it, with bolt paper and a +9 Ludwig's Holy Blade.

She's a tough one though, no doubt about that.

Nice! It looks so easy when you see it, but I know better, haha. What an asshole of a boss, great skills there. And damn the beast claws actually look to be a great weapon...

Thank you. Beast claws have been very useful to me. I'd describe them as a slightly slower Blade of Mercy except it's for strength focused players.

It's definitely a.... unique weapon.

To maximize its damage, for example, you need to have low Insight, wear what I would consider the *ugliest* armor set in the game (Djura's Ashen Set), and although you deal increased damage to enemies, enemies also deal increased damage against you. Do not use beast blood pellet with it though, since it offers no additional benefit. The beasthood gain can often be difficult as well to a reasonable level, especially against bosses, since most of the time there are lack of opportunities to continuously attack a boss without interruption before you need to dash away.

Oh, and the Regain on this weapon is terrible.

I guess it's what you call High Risk High Reward weapon? Though not really quite sure the reward is big enough compensation for the risk. It does look cool though.

I can help too after work if you still need help. 66 is little on the lower side but should be manageable. +9 weapon helps alot also and you should be able to upgrade atleast one weapon to that. Best tactic is to bait the headslam and go in for big damage since it is the weakspot.

You could also wear the charred hunter set with the gray wolf cap like I do. Charred hunter set is the second best set for beasthood, but it looks a LOT better than the Ashen set which is pretty ugly like you said.

EDIT: Double checked and it turns out Henryk's set is actually the second best for beasthood, but it's barely better than charred hunter set. They might as well be tied.

What am I reading? D: Henryk's Set looks great! Used that for most of the game until I got the Knight Set.

I only called the Ashen set ugly. Henryk's set does look cool, but IMO charred set looks even better. I'm a fan of worn and ripped up look of the cape.
Ah my bad I misread the last sentence. Charred is indeed pretty great looking, although I'm definitely partial to Henryk's and Knight.

So has anyone talked about "
Nightmare Slain
"? Maybe possible there could be more of these in DLC? It kinda feels like that was their original intent with it, but ended up not doing so.

I am really loving the Chikage, though the pre-Logarius period was preeeetty rough in spots because of the stat allocation. Can't wait to boost the hell out of my Bloodtinge and really make it (and the Evelyn) sing.

Yeah I'm at that point as well. It's easily my favorite or tied with the cane as my favorite weapon. Chikage has the sweetest looking move set. I'm still shocked at how much stronger the Chikage is over the Reiterpallasch.

You and I need to have a duel. My quality build is really weak against a bloodtinge build.

Funnily enough Reiterpallasch's bullets are actually stronger than Evelyn.

I still need to get used to Chikage. The hp drain can be really crippling.

I very rarely actually shoot bullets from the Reiterpallasch, so it's a feature I don't need that much. Chikage takes a bit to get used to it and the HP drain is horrible if you keep it on for too long, very rarely bothers me these days since I usually put it back in skill mode when I'm done with the attacks. The bad thing is dying with it in 2 hand mode and respawning with it in 2 hand mode and it's just sucking your life away while you're walking around. The only attack that I have problems connecting with is the running R1 I believe, can't hit shit with it.

After watching ENB try to no death this game I'm convinced this game is so random that it's impossible to not die in it...especially at base level. I find it funny he neglects to do the actual final bosses or some of the optional bosses and stages because I guess even he knows it's impossible to deal with those at base level without getting killed.

I wouldn't say it's impossible to do a no death run, unless you're talking about a no death run at SL4.
