Resident Evil 2 Remake pitched today

I feel like at this rate if RE2 HD gets done they might as well do 3 also and then Capcom can re-release every game on a sold platform in a true collection. RE0-RE6 as a collection and seperate buys on PSN/XBL. People will dip and you will get new customers who are old and new who want to play the whole series without digging through old consoles.

I'd like to see Jills scenario added as a third character options for beating Leon/Claire

It be a lot more work, but it always felt like RE2 and 3 were part of the same game.

REmake took some liberties to update concepts, gameplay, and make the plot much more cohesive and less melodramatic. RE2 REmake should do the same to give us a better game.

RE2 built with the Remake engine would be great. I don't think RE1 and 2 would really work with RE4 or REv gameplay. They're about confined spaces.

For Nemesis I'd use the RE4 approach, its filled with runaways, enemies and weapons anyway.

This is such awesome news! I hope he gets approval and RE2make is just a couple of years away!

Apparently those facebook posts weren't fucking around! Seems he was actually gathering ammunition for his pitch meeting today! Very cool! I'm starting to have renewed faith in Capcom!

RE2 is a PS1 game.

REmake is pretty much the only option.

I mean more in terms of new additions like REMake--new sections, new enemies, new storyline tidbits.

Not just a copy and paste.

REMake is still the gold standard when people think of proper remakes.

I'm salivating at the possibility of a classic RE that is even better than REmake.

Initial wish list:
Bring back defense items with a manual and automatic mode.

Bring back Crimson Heads.

Do cool stuff that messes with veteran players (example in REmake being the dog hallway). One idea I have in mind would be the room with the one way mirror.

Like the recent REmake Remaster, allow costumes of Leon and Claire from recent games.

Gather all of the bonuses from every version including EX files, the minigame mode, and Nightmare difficulty from Dreamcast/XP.

If it's the 20th anniversary release, include an emulated version of RE2 as a bonus.

A mode akin to Once Again, Real Survival, Invisible Enemies, and One Dangerous Zombie.

This is all off the top of my head.
Listen to the man

Also, evolving Lickers pls :'D

I'm definitely on board with throwing in some curve balls that keep veteran players on their toes. I suggested in one of the threads yesterday that they not limit Mr. X's appearances to scripted events like they did in the original. Make it to where he can appear anywhere at anytime. Also, give him the ability to run.

Upside, inside out he's livin la vida loca, He'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca
I need this to happen, do it fucking already Capcpom!

Did people hate RE3? never gets brought up for a remake - It seems to be the bastard child of the RE series.
My dream scenario is that 2 and 3 get mixed into one cohesive game.

I think the only way we get an RE3make is if they somehow include it with this package.

The love for that game just isn't there like it is for RE1 and 2.

1 Scenario, switch between Clair and Leon.
1 Scenario, Jill.
All of them meet at the end and kill the final boss which is the result of Dr. William + Nemesis.

Make it happen Capcom.

For the love of all things holy please no crimson heads, they would suck grandly in RE2 with its more flowing nature.

I still can't believe that this is actually happening. This is truly the year of dreams coming true.

I really hope they do the REmake treatment with this. Having it any other way would butcher the game. Sorry to all the people who want RE4 style remake but fuck that.

After that the only thing I want is for The 4th Survivor (with playable HUNK obv.) to be an unlockable scenario.

RE: Crimson heads, if they don't want to mess with the lore, zombies in 2 would evolve into Lickers instead, since it's an improved version of the mutation process that created the crimson heads in 1.

That'd be much scarier actually. Just imagine every zombie you don't destroy comes back as a Licker. Hoo boy.

Hope they go for it, the HD release of the RE1 remake should give them enough confidence for this, especially considering most say 2 is one of the best in the franchise.

The demand for it is quite high and REHD sold well enough didn't it? Granted Capcom have EXTREMELY high expectations for sales when it comes to RE but still.

I don't think I'm ready to live in a world where the super-big budget FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, and a REmake2 could all be happening- and all coming within 3 years. Body can't handle.

All that's missing is a new Suikoden from Konami & Sony snatching up the Silent Hill IP and getting Toyama to make a new game. o_O

I'd just like to add Sony buying the Crash Bandicoot IP and Sony making an Ape Escape 4 to that list.

Goodness, it feels like we woke up into an late 90's, early 2000's nostalgic parallel of gaming heaven.

Please don't pinch me, not yet. Let me soak this all in.

The obvious problem with an RE2make is that it would be very easy to make the game worse.

REmake set a standard for remakes that no other port/re-imagining/remaster has met.

It stayed true to the original atmosphere and gameplay.
It added minor features to help general usability (quick turn, walking up stairs, defence items)
It restored areas of cut content and integrated them seamlessly into the existing experience. This made the game a fantastic experience for huge RE1 fans and new comers alike.

That last one is the tricky part. If you change RE2 in any way, you risk offending the fans. But if they stay too true to the original, then all you've done is upgrade the graphics.

I want them to take risks with an RE2make and not be afraid to make changes to story elements, the layout of the locations and the puzzles. It might end up being worse, but if they get it right then we could have another REmake on our hands. I want that way more than I want a prettier version of RE2.

Same. They should definitely change things up but like they did with the first remake. I mean I'd take a straight up prettier version of RE2, but there's a reason why people shit the bed when the remake came out and it's because it defied all expectations.

REmake sold me on the graphics alone, but the additional elements and change ups made the experience even better. IMO, it's still the best survival-horror game out there. If they can stick to the same template with REmake2, I will be very happy.

For sure. I don't want an RE2 remake if they aren't willing to shake things up like REmake did.

The last one is actually easier to do in 2 than it was back in the Original as it is not confined to one area. You in RE2 you have plenty of room to add new areas without even touching the old ones.

They should probably make dramatic changes to the combat. This needs to advance the genre as much as the original did so modern audiences can love it too.

Maybe they should make it turn based.

Bueno. I just hope there's an 80s hair metal alt costume for Leon. Not for any particular reason, but wouldn't that just be fun?

A bunch of ideas: modernize the controls. Dodge is fundamental too. Add more things like a growing damage system for the weapon. More xp points more damage. Something like that.
