At least that gives me some incentive to keep playing FC Evo.

Hopefully it means we'll be getting The 3rd Evo next summer.

and we're still waiting for SC on PSP.
Such a shame we'll never get the Vita versions
Maybe there's a chance for the third one

Nice December is good timing for me. Was hoping they would do this sooner than later. Playing through fc Evo now, and hopefully I'll be finish with it by then. Glad that it's coming.

I misread the title, assumed that the announcement was for an English version on Vita, read the OP, then became quite sad and despondent...

I see these as the most logical option for localisation. It will never happen, though :/

Logical, but difficult according to XSEED. They're made by a company they've not partnered with before (Kadokawa, rather than Falcom) and they have additional licencing costs due to the voice acting which either means dubbing when they didn't need to before, or paying for the Japanese VA (or both).

I'd love to see the Evo's come across. Especially since they're already translated. Seems like a pipe dream at this point though.

OT: That was fast. Guess they're reeling all of these off then.

Might slip into fall. Don't have a source, only heard it second hand. Apparently it was posted on facebook and discussed in the XSEED forums

Cold Steel is also targeted for Fall... I hope they give both games enough room to breathe. I definitely want to play SC first, though.

Depends, really. The music is better, but I like the original Kiseki art more than the art in the Evolution versions. The inhouse artist who did the original stuff was far more expressive, IMO.

The original art is definitely better.

In related news, Estelle is awesome.

The old XSEED would probably go after these even if it's mean working with new partners, since it'd introduce it to a new fanbase. The new XSEED is too busy with plenty of new partners to work with, which is not a bad thing in my book.

I'll probably get these down the road and do some crazy stuff like play it on the Vita while reading the text from the PC version or something like that.

It's not though.

First Chapter's soundtrack was probably the worst Kiseki universe soundtrack. From what I've heard, the Evo stuff was an improvement.

I don't think SC Evo's OST will top some of the tracks in SC though.

Couldn't they just put the PSP translation over it and call it a day?

Which would do nothing in terms of VA work, considering they have said multiple times that they can not get the rights to use the Japanese VAs. There would also be the problem of using Japanese VAs if they could, because contrary to what some believe, undubbed games do not sell nearly as well as dubbed and would make games as big as these a lot harder to see profits.

Are you aware that the Trails in the Sky games already have little to no dub at all?

I'd buy it even with little to no dub (à la Ys Celceta), it's a shame just one feauture prevents the improved version of a game from coming over to the West.

I thought the issue here was that they'd either have to dub it or pay for the Japanese licencing, since they couldn't remove the VA altogether (although I may be wrong on that).

That's the thing, they never confirmed that they could remove VA altogether. In this case, I always wondered why not just remove all VA, working with other publishers aside.

The Evolution games do have a HUGE dub though.

XSEED is releasing the original version that have little to no dub, which is the point I made. It wouldn't hurt to release the Evolution version without the full VA, since it's not like it'd be a botched version compared to the ones XSEED is already bringing.

Yes, bring the Evos over!

I'd be quite happy with the VA completely removed, but I do wonder how viable that'd be.

I don't see why working with a new publisher is such a hurdle though. NISA managed it twice when Gust/Compile Heart moved on (first with Spike Chunsoft and then Kadokawa). It's certainly possible.

This would require dev work i imagine and Xseed already said they can't really do that as they only have one dev on staff.

As long as we get the PC version at same quality as FC, it should be good,IMO.

I think it's like I mentioned earlier, the new XSEED already have plenty of partners at the moment, they don't need to pursue any more work right now.

The japanese developer would be the one removing the VA, as well as inserting the localized script, not XSEED. That one dev they mentioned is for PC games, and she's not exclusive to XSEED.

You know I was talking about the Evo games right? I mean the thread is talking about SC Evo. What I said is what Tom's response has been in regards to the Evo games and one of the major reasons why they are not coming over to the West, at least not from Xseed.

Also what would be the point of them releasing the Evo games over here without VA work? Outside of new character art and music (which is largely hit or miss), the VA work is the main attraction when it comes to them. If character art/music is all that would be changing in terms of game versions (for potential Western releases), why not just give people the option to use new art/music in the current version we have?

I mean hell, we've only gotten a single Trails game over here so far, why should anyone already want a remaster for it? There's enough Trails for Xseed to work on for years and the Evo games aren't even on anything but Vita. Do you really think Vita is going to be in the same shape it is now, in 4+ years when Xseed could even work on anything but the mainline originals?

You mentioned undub games don't sell well, which the original trilogy is and it's selling just fine, specially on PC, not to mention Ys Celceta which was also mentioned.

Can't wait for Silver Will SC Evo version. If we could somehow move the music from Evo version onto the Xseed translated version. I wonder if it can be done on PC...

Eh, that requires a lot of work potentially on the side of the original publisher/developer for somewhat unknown return. Falcon and Xseed have a good relationship so Falcon will even give them source code. That is not going to happen with a new partner.

Honestly thought the hint would be taken and I wouldn't have to explain it. I was talking about games that have a full voice cast in the first place and have constant talking for every scene (aka Trails Evo), not just battle voices (the original Trails versions). There is a clear difference between the sales potential of a dubbed game and a Japanese voices only game in the West. The potential very much could not be there in terms of the Evo games if they only used Japanese voices, if they could even get the rights to use them.
