Nicki Minaj wax figure depicts her on all fours. Azealia Banks has beef with this.

The likeness seems a bit off.

But seriously, I don't think the person who made an entire music video about how she is sexy and wants your dick is really concerned about her wax likeness being in a sexy pose from said video.

My first thought of Nicki is not artist, it's phat booty. A problem of perception of her own making.
Whhhhhaaaaat tthhhhhhhheeeeee fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck aaaaaaammmmm iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii rrrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaddddddddiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggg?!

So her verse on monster putting to shame kanye and jay-z means nothing? Her hit records? The fact that she is arguably the best Mc out now regardless of whether its male or female?

Lol

I'm more surprised that people are allowed to touch all over it, honestly. Like seriously dude is allowed to climb up on the table and pose for a doggy-style picture?!
Madame Tussauds surprisingly encourages it (to a point). They'll naturally get roughed up for photo ops, and a crew does a quick touchup one very sculpture during the night.

Being wax, they're actually fairly hearty.

I'm not sure why people have a problem with this. When I think of nicki minage, I think if this type of imagery. It's kinda her thing. I'm sure she had a say in the depiction as well.

I don't get the immediate jumps to racism over everything. Why would you assume it's racist?

Yes. She gained popularity with rapping but it's pretty obvious what she markets the most.

Didn't realize wax was so tough. I've never touched a wax statue, so I always assumed they had a consistency similar to candle wax.

This picture cracked me up, this dude looks like he's going so hard. Last time I went to any Madame Tussauds there was a line three blocks long to get in, and a line around every wax figure that was atleast 10 people deep. This dude must've waited for several minutes, gave his camera to someone that was with him, got up there in front of a bunch of strangers and starting waxing on a wax doll, with a facial expression that says I'm hitting this with the fury of a thousand a suns.

Broken clock et cetera et cetera.

Despite the possible debase and sexist implications to this wax figure, if Nicki Minaj is okay, who am I to judge?

Also completely off topic

Tamala Jones is so damn fine. Brofist Royalan.

Also to be accurate, the Kylie Minogue wax figure that has popped up in the thread is the second one that is on display at the Australian branch. The first one at the main branch (London) is

Tussauds generally works directly with the people they are making sculptures of with exceptions being dead people etc. Though it seems they didn't bring Minaj in for this. She likes it though and has even stated she would have come in for direct body measurements so really no need to white knight her.

hmmmm....I dunno about this. Have they done other models of non-black celebrities that go for the same sexualized angle as Minaj? And are those models also doing things that would be considered sexualized?(And Martha Stewart is by far the worst connection anyone could make to compare) If not, then I'd agree with Azealia.

...And based on that model of Kylie Minogue I'm detecting no foul play here. Back to your cave Azealia.

nah. racist white people made her do that. its always the white people.

Seems like you got something you wanna get off your chest.

Last time I was at the wax museum, I remember the figures being of celebrities in iconic moments. This her iconic moment, not being in the booth.

First, the figure looks fantastic.

Second, the position just shows how Nicki reveals herself as some sort of sexy rapper/pop sensation and honestly there is nothing gross or disrespectful about it (although the dude in the picture is gross). Nicki apparently even liked the figure.

I would imagine she had some input before the wax figure was created and granted permission, no? I'm not seeing the issue here.

She has serious rap talent and she showed it on that song, but she's kind of squandered it since.

Is this a rare moment of Azealia Banks having a legitimate gripe? I mean, no other pop star has been depicted so lewdly, you don't see Martha's wax figure in orange, and yeah, people are already abusing the figure:

It's already been said, but: Kylie Minogue. If it's good enough for Kylie it's good enough for anyone.

Edit: And I'm pretty sure they had this exact problem with people molesting the statue, so they must really want this kind of publicity.

Who wrote that Monster verse though.

it's awesome to come back and read that everyone is impressed for different reasons, none that actually and correctly place the blame, i can see this thread being 10 pages

You can touch anything on the figures except their hair. So doggy dude is cool except the hair part.

I also imagine this was completely cool with Minaj. She had to pose, approve, get her face scanned, etc for this whole thing.

Should make for some pretty funny pictures.

There's definitely a difference in context.

Could you explain how it's out of context? Isn't it her most famous video? I saw her Anaconda video and didn't feel she was trying to be "ironic" in it, like it was a statement against sexism or whatever. Rather, it was more like her embracing and exploiting it. You kind of reap what you sow, no?

The picture of that dude posed like he's fucking her is juvenile and crass and easily the funniest thing I've seen all day.

So wait, Nicki's pose from her breakout music video is a source of unimaginable social sexual malfeasance, and not the guy who saw it and decided to pretend to fuck her from behind?
