Well considering the game still hasn't gotten it's promised bugfix/audio patch in America, now well over a year after announced, they should probably be ready to shoulder some of the blame for that themselves. Really amateur hour.

Ditto for Doublefine and CQ2. When even Nicalis is more timely than you, you know you have a problem.

Seriously. Also they're putting Ittle Dew 2 on Xbox One.

Hey if they really don't want my money, whatever.

Looking it up it seems Ittle Dew hasn't released in Europe yet either, even though Ludosity said they'd finished lotcheck and were just waiting on release date confirmation from NOE. This was over a year ago and not a word since... what's going on?

It came out in Europe ages ago. What they didn't do is release it in Germany. Which is fucking ridiculous for a game like that.

Oh, my mistake, I was looking at the Steam release date. It came out in Europe (minus DE) last November so where's our American patch?

Evidently they were also in negotiations with a Japanese publisher for release there, I guess that went nowhere?

They're clearly not very invested. Just a few weeks/months ago they excitedly tweeted about how many copies they sold in total. When tiny devs like Bertil Hörberg with Gunman Clive or Gulatica with ZaCiSa can release their games everywhere and support all regions equally, how can't they do it? That's what always trips me up.

Yeah, I don't get the egos on some of these bigger "indies."

For PEGI, it has already paid for itself. USK is about half way there with Germany sales alone. Heck, Germany and UK for me have been neck and neck for by biggest countries so far.

xD. They had some (cheesy?) popcorn and pretzels. Eventually they had some cookies (chocolate chip & oatmeal) and some kind of cheesecake.

I think the stage itself was a bit simple for Steamworld Heist, and it didn't seem like there was any heal mechanic from what I could tell. It's early in the game I presume, so I probably was missing the healer. It was fine, albeit a bit hard for me.

Sounds pretty tasty. I tried a free sample of Chicago Mix (cheese + caramel) popcorn at the mall today when my wife's new glasses were being made at Lenscrafters, it was a bit on the oily side. The Popcorn, Indiana brand stuff is delectable, though. (As are all their products.)

Anyway! On topic. I think SWH is probably the kind of game I'd find pretty difficult, too, but I'm planning to give it a shot regardless. I bet you're correct that a healer would help, and is probably to be found in the game a bit later on. Did you get to play anything at PAX proper?

Watched the nindies trailer.

FAST, Freedom Planet and The Next Penelope look absolutely amazing. So envy for Wii U owners, at least until I get a Wii U too

Among the "games I don't need to envy Wii U owners for" :p there are Poncho, New n Tasty, Electronic Super Joy and Shantae 4 which also look great. Nintendo is working really hard on the indie side and it shows.

Next Penelope and Poncho appealed to me the most in the trailer for sure. Poncho in particular looks right up my alley. Really dig the art style in that one. Lots of great indies coming up. Still psyched for forma.8 as well!

So... I actually figured this one out. Turns out, I submitted the wrong image! Woops. No idea how I managed to mess that up. Fixed now of course. lol

Also speaking of goof ups.. Back when I changed ZaciSa's NA price back at end of July. I somehow messed up the Mexican price. No idea how, but I somehow set it to 16 Mexican Pesos. Which essentially translates to $0.95. That is 75% cheaper then what I meant to do, 65 Pesos. So I've put in an order to fix that in Sept. I have NO idea how that happened, esp as I remember doing a conversion. Weird. lol

Yup(was this in the full show? the trailer isn't featuring it). It's made by very talented (and italian :p ) devs, their previous game was a blast to play.

That IS crazy cheap. How'd the game do in the Mexican charts? At that price I see pretty much anyone who notices it giving it a go.

Had my first day at PAX today. Got a free ticket somehow for tomorrow (apparently Smash tourneys have extra badges available?...).

I played Star Fox Zero (that line was painful. It was freaking 3 hours long), Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Super Mario Maker, and Final Fantasy Explorers.

I also played Dragon Quest Heroes.

Star Fox Zero - Looks and plays much better in person. I'm excited to play the whole game once it releases. Played the Corneria and Sector Z (?) stages, most of which you've seen in videos online and what not.

Triforce Heroes was a blast, even with complete strangers. I get a chance tomorrow to play with some friends, so that should be even better (evil laughter).

Mario Maker was a lot of fun as well. Made a fairly random level really quickly (it takes time to make a good level, but the interface is pretty intuitive), and then played through and beat the first level from the NWC2015. It actually wasn't too bad since I already knew what to do.

Final Fantasy Explorers was fun, albeit a bit tedious until I realized how to use my special attacks. It was a fairly short demo however, so I'm sure there's a good bit more to it. I really needed to find a block or dodge move of some sort, but had no luck.

Not sure if folks care much about Dragon Quest Heroes, but I found that fun too. The boss fight demo they had was actually pretty awesome, although you pretty much always timed out in the battle. Seemed to have more pure fighting strategy than Hyrule Warriors, but less of having bases stuff at least in the demo.

I didn't get a chance to play Poncho, although that was more by choice (it was open, but I just wanted to play other things on Thursday). I may check out some more indie games tomorrow.

Gunman Clive HD Collection next week on my birthday woooohooooo!!

Can't wait to play these awesome games on the big screen. $4 is such a great price too.

Hey, thanks for the impressions, ZSL. I appreciate it! Congrats on the free badge, BTW, that's really awesome.

I got to play TFH and Mario Maker at the Best Buy E3 event. My impressions of both are pretty similar. I'm psyched for Mario Maker and I'm hoping with Zelda that it will have a good amount of content. I'm curious what the save system and online co-op matching will be like. I imagine if you select a mission the game has to find someone else to set you up with who has unlocked the same mission. Hoping there are a lot of missions in the game and that it offers some unique dungeon gameplay. I do really like the world-building aspect of Zelda so I'm expecting a bit less in that regard but I'm hoping for lots of fun regardless. Sept. and Oct. are very exciting to me with Mario Maker, Yoshi, Chibi-Robo (which I'm hoping is much more intuitive than Yumi's Odd Odyssey) and TFH.

As to Star Fox, I posted in another thread--

Incredible how reminiscent these levels are of SF64, having just played the 3DS version for the first time recently. I'm not a huge SF fan but it almost looks like a remake of that game. I mean, Yoshi's New Island seemed to do pretty much the same thing w/ Yoshi's Island and I liked it a lot, but I'm more inclined to play Yoshi's Island twice with minor differences than SF.

So I'm not the biggest SF fan to begin with. Open to it, but this looks more like a rental for me if it's not presenting much in the way of new action and setpieces compared to those on offer in SF64. I'm open to trying it, and hopefully it will have a new reveal trailer soon with some more new kinds of areas, levels, and gameplay elements shown, but right now it almost seems like New Super Star Fox 64. Regardless. I'm glad to hear it was fun and I'm definitely not meaning to put any damper on the enjoyment you had with it. Just speaking as a mild SF fan, and a mild space shooter fan in general, I want it to have something new to it to draw me (besides the control scheme, of course--I mean more in terms of new gameplay scenarios and setpieces).

Well that's random, an eShop/VC title hitting on Monday.

Is it worth getting if I felt the original NES title felt lacking, but enjoyed World Rally on WiiWare? Actually, I wonder if Excitebike 64 will ever get added to VC, considering that had the NES game as an unlockable.

Seems odd not to put this on 3DS too.

It seems Nintendo has largely forgotten the service exists there too for most of this year.

EarthBound Beginnings should've had a 3DS release too. Drives me nuts when NES games make it to Wii U but not 3DS (ie: Ufouria), and vice versa (ie: Recca).

So my daughter wants Ace Attorney Dual Destinies for her 3DS which is on sale until tomorrow. She brings her 3DS over so I can put in my credit card info and tap purchase. I do that and the game is downloading.

A little while later, she comes over and says that I got the wrong game. I said, what are you talking about? All I did was to put in my card info. You picked out the game.

It turns out that she got the Trilogy instead of Dual Destinies. That sucks considering that she already has those games on the DS. I'm going to have to call Nintendo support tomorrow to see if they will give me credit so that we can buy the correct game instead.

Has anyone had success with Nintendo for eshop credit?

They've talked in the past about how the Wii U architecture will carry over, but the 3DS wasn't built with that in mind. So they're probably focusing on the VC that will easily move over, whether it's available day 1 or drip-dripped again.

Even of that's the case, it would be nice to at least get some of those 3DS only games on to the Wii U.

Question for you guys. Not sure if there's a more appropriate place, but I take this to be a 'general Nintendo community'. Hope no one minds

I've got a bunch of old Nintendo games I'm looking to sell. All in great condition and CIB. Some (what I believe to be) rare ones, too. Fire Emblem GBA, Super Princess Peach, Zelda Collector's Edition, etc.

Is the Buy/Sell community a good place to post them or would 90% of the games (since they're all old - GC, GBA, DS) never draw any interest? Any other online communities where it might make more sense? Is there a commonly used reference point for how much some of these games would be worth? Thanks

Nintendo doesn't credit purchases like that, so i'm sorry but it's a lost case.

Probably won't get a PR today, considering it's a Bank Holiday in the UK. Though a European one may crop up

How many Bank Holidays on Monday has the UK? :O hahaha

Bought Scram Kitty yesterday... played for 10 minutes and I still don't know how to get some cats (passing through them doesn't make anything? Anyway, I'll read the manual next time :D)

Aw pooey, the PR is my Monday morning highlight.:( Still, Sin and Punishment with remapable controls is a nice teaser. :)

Runbow is this week as well I think, two games for definite then.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Had to download a small update when we first started. Already had the old base out so just kept the new base in the box as a back up in case kids or the doge kill old one.

I played the opening stuff, and then passed it off to the kids when it got to the Toybox tutorial. Then they quit that and played the Inside Out playset. I'll post in game screens later. :p

Thanks for this! Just for the heck of it, do you have these lists handy for platforms not on Wii U VC as well? (i.e. TG-16, et al.)

Sin and Punishment, StarTropics and Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II are coming this week to EU.

Speaking of ST2, is that missing from your list, sörine? Or did it already come out on Wii U NA VC?

Oh, yes. That's what I was referring to, exactly. I wonder if that's indicative of Nintendo sticking with their same internal HW chip(s) as in Wii U, despite speculation that they won't. But I'm not sure if their Wii U VC architecture would require the same HW chip(s) to be used in order to carry over the architecture to NX.

Regardless, totally agree that it would be nice to get the 3DS only VC games over to the Wii U VC service. Fingers crossed.

B/S/T is your best bet. You could try GameTZ or CAG as well, though those can be a bit off-putting as they often require lower-feedback members to send their items first, even if you are "trading" for cash (i.e., selling an item). Regardless: any CIB GBA games are going to be worth a good amount, especially to the right buyers. Go to eBay and see what they are selling for CIB under "sold" items. (If you're in NA, stick w/ prices as is when looking up/listing prices, if you're in Canada be sure to note the prices are in Canadian or American dollars and what the shipping would be comparatively.) Anyway, take those eBay prices, subtract 10-15% or more (I'd say a bit more if they are exorbitantly high prices), and list the new prices in B/S/T and you should get some good sales. There are DEFINITELY people interested in buying retro games in B/S/T, especially Nintendo games and especially CIB GBA games. I saw Leynos already post that he's interested. I suspect HaL64 might be, too. Hope this helps! (BTW, be sure to be clear about what the total cost is to the buyer, i.e. charge actual shipping cost in addition to your item cost in your listing, or include shipping in your prices.)

Yay! You bought Scram Kitty. So glad.

Passing through a cat does get them. Did you play the tutorial? Be sure to play using the non-"TV" screen. That is to say, one screen has Scram Kitty on it providing tips, one has the normal game and stationary camera. Stick to the latter when playing, you can always switch the displays.

Some tips:

-increased health gives you an increased jump
-I personally find the d-pad tough curves and jumps more manageable
-exploration will be a boon to you

Please join us in the OT as well, and let me know if you want any more tips!

In the year of 18XX, the west is overrun by thugs and outlaws. A group of bandits have kidnapped Mayor Johnson’s daughter and are spreading havoc across the land. Gunman Clive must rescue the girl and bring order to the west, then finish the fight in Gunman Clive 2. His battle against the bandits takes him all around the world and beyond. Jump and shoot your way across diverse and challenging levels and fight massive bosses. Bring out your inner cowboy and get ready for some real gunslinger action.

Zombie Defense (Teyon) - €7.99/£7.19
The dead burst forth from the earth, and beneath a blackened sky an endless horde of zombies rampage across the burning corpse of our dying civilization. You are humanity's last hope. Use classic RTS/tower-defence strategies and tactics to fight against zombies. Gather soldiers, outfit them with lethal weaponry, use new destructive technologies and march to victory in two game modes and 35 deadly missions. Defeat waves of shambling walkers, creeping monstrosities and massive mutant zombie bosses as every weapon of the modern military arsenal is at your disposal. Earn money and upgrade to more effective weapons, vehicles and airstrikes, hire ruthless soldiers and develop killer technologies.

Sin and Punishment (Nintendo, N64 VC) - €9.99/£8.99
The classic shooter can be yours once again! The legendary studio Treasure delivers a masterpiece of game design that stands as one of the all-time greatest shooters. Sin and Punishment tasks you as a young resistance fighter battling Ruffians – mutants bred for food who turned against their masters – and also facing corrupt military forces in your quest to save the planet. Originally released only in Japan for Nintendo 64, Sin and Punishment is available once again via Virtual Console, updated with English menu and tutorial text, and English subtitles in the ending sequence.

StarTropics (Nintendo, NES VC) - €4.99/£4.49
Mike Jones is an ordinary kid on an extraordinary adventure. When his archaeologist uncle goes missing on a tropical island, Mike sets off to uncover the dark secrets lurking in paradise. StarTropics boasts two styles of gameplay: explore the island on foot or in your uncle’s submarine, and battle monsters using a variety of weapons and items. The original NES release included a letter in the game box, with a hidden message. For the Virtual Console version, this has been reproduced in the electronic manual. This is the US version of the game.

Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II (Nintendo, NES VC) - €4.99/£4.49
Mike Jones, high-school ace pitcher and part-time adventurer, returns for another escapade; travelling not into space but back in time. This sequel to StarTropics was released only in North America as one of the last NES titles. Mike is transported through history from the Stone Age to the Wild West. Meet historical figures like Leonardo da Vinci and Cleopatra, and face the avengers of Zoda – the alien leader whom Mike defeated in his first adventure. Could Zoda be ready to rise again? I tend to be one of the more outspoken critics on the subject of Rayman Legends here on GAF. I like the game a lot, but I believe it has some glaring flaws that make it far inferior to its predecessor (well, predecessors plural, in fact, but I'm specifically thinking of the superlative Origins). The unlockable world is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've encountered in a game in a long time, really. Be that as it may, the game still boasts tons of creative levels and I did have a lot of fun with wide swaths of it. Plus, the Challenges App prior to the game's release gave me an immense amount of fun when my wife and I first got our Wii U, and those same challenges are still included with the game. (Ironically, part of my diminished enjoyment with the game itself came from getting a bit burned out on the Challenges levels, and their ensuing similarity to some of the game's actual levels didn't help that, but I can't really blame UbiSoft or the game for that much, in particular.) On the whole, despite my equivocation in this recommendation, at this price it's a slam-dunk purchase and it does provide a lot of creativity and fun in the majority of its meaningful offerings within the game.

If Rayman Origins never existed, Legends would be a game I still had some cognitive dissonance about that would prevent a wholehearted recommendation, but if you can overlook its flaws, it's still a very good game. (And probably a very, very good game, I've just got my heels dug in a bit about my quibbles with it.)

If you do pick up Legends, I implore you not to play the included Origins levels and to play them in Origins proper instead, since they're much better balanced in difficulty in their original game.

(P.S. Interestingly, StarTropics II is no longer getting the "import tax" it got on the Wii Shop in EU.)

None of the games do that never came out in EU before do. S&P would've had one as well. The Earthbound are the only irregularly priced games.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I assume then that ST2 counts as "having come out before in EU" because it was in the Wii Shop, then? Because I know it was 500 points on the Wii Shop in NA, but 600 for y'all in EU.

Those distinctions simply don't exist anymore. They're all just VC games on Wii U. The import tax was a relic of the hanabi festival and stuff like that.
