Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition, Sega’s update to Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on December 17 in Japan, the publisher announced.

The popular “Dream Duel” story mode from the original game will return with many new situations. There will be “Network Mode,” a “Training Mode” to practice combos and new systems, as well as a “Gallery Mode” to view illustrations and such from the original game.

This is the next version of the game. Tatsuya Shiba (Mahouka), Emi Yusa (Devil is a Part-Timer's) and I believe Quenser Barbotage (Heavy's Object) are the new playable characters that are announced so far. There might be more to be announced later on

The US version of the first one is coming out in October.

Not sure if i should get the western vanilla version or just import this one. Anime fighters need to their shit together.

So they're selling this update as a full price title? No way to download/buy the update with a reduced price if you have the original game? If yes, then wow why would anyone buy the game when it's released in October in the West.

Day 1 purchase for PS4, loved the vanilla on PS3.
I hope people still buy the US release so we might get this in English too, it's great game.

Well, yeah, still buying the English version next month. It's not every day that a crossover game like this heads overseas.

Thank you Sega for making a fighting game.... now there's one other fighting game IP you guys have that I'd like you to raise from its tombstone.

Thats awesome! Between this, Nitroplus Blasterz and Koihime Enbu PS4 has all the weeb fighters till the end of the year.
The only thing I want is a console port of the newest Arcana Heart.

Ugh. JP pubs really fuck over their US/EU fans with update announcements before their original game even hits outside of their country. Really lowers my interest in the original now. =/

THIS. Holy crap does the game ever turn into a crazy free for all once folks know how to utilize the dash cancels and customize their toolset with Arcanas. Just mixups and combos for DAYS.

Don't forget Blade Arcus from Shining.

Granted, the majority of opinions I'very heard about the game are mixed.

I'm gonna cancel my Vita one and wait then since I wasn't sure if I want to double dip anyways. I got the JP version already on PS3.

Wow, that's really stupid. Well, not just stupid, but a big middle finger to their American branch. And no DLC option?

Keep in mind this game has received no character rebalance in Ignition (just a slight mechanics upgrade to how you can choose assists between rounds) and only adds three characters.

I guess on the bright side of this is that they've done no work on balancing the game, that the vanilla version is pretty much exactly the same as Ignition minus the new characters.

Not sure what to do with my preorder now. Cancel it and screw over SoA and import Ignition? Ignore Ignition and stick to my pre-order? Import Ignition AND keep my preorder? I think the best thing for me to do would be for me to follow through with my PS3 preorder, then sell it used so I can import Ignition.

This is the kind of thing you'd see from a company that has never worked with arcade fighters properly (this isn't the Virtua Fighter team making this game). I had no idea that Sega of Japan had this little respect not only for their own consumers but also for their overseas ones.

Blade Arcus is actually the one I'm looking most forward to.

The Blade Arcus fighter? That's a really awful game, it's not something you want.

Welp guess theres no point in buying the US version then since its going to be outdated in only 2 months.

Why didn't sega just hold off and just release the updated version instead?

I'll still buy the US one to support Sega's decision to bring it over, but man -- at this point I wish they'd just hold off and bring the updated version over. Either that or somehow offer it as dlc.

Just noticed that this latest version is pushing Heavy Object kind of hard. Had to look it up and apparently the anime airs in oct. Will watch.

Sega of Japan just taking a big ol' shit on Sega of America. Yikes.

Sega can't win against Sega.

I guess I'll do the same. Paying for the import would cost me twice as much and Ignition, if it ever comes out in the West, won't be here before next year
or right after the next upgrade release in Japan.

Just wait for it to release on the HK PSN, the whole interface is in english and its cheaper than just buying the disc.

Meh, I was gonna buy the western version on vita when it came out, but I'm not so sure. I'll probably just end up passing entirely on the series. I really wish fighting game publishers would stop doing this kind of thing. The SF5 method is the way to go.

Hmmm. Wow. Poor DBFC =P

Most of what i've heard is just negative, that series (blade arcus fighting games) is being far more supported than I expected

is bunko coming out in EU?

I want to play as taiga without having to go down to friggin osaka, since i'm fairly sure my local doesn't have it

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Let's hope sega can localize the second one.... until then i'll be importing it on the ps4 I guess.

Sadly this is how I feel too. Absolutely awful timing for this announcement, they must not have cared about what this would do to the US release, or just completely overlooked it.

It'd be one thing if it was just like a PS4 port, but since there's actually more content it's even worse. >_>

God knows, probably not. Your best bet would probably be to buy from Amazon or cdjapan

EDIT: First game is coming to EU but it's only on PS3 and Vita

This news is coming at a really bad time, with the vanilla version releasing next month. :(

I have the Vita version pre-ordered, but I would have preferred getting it for the PS4 instead. Seeing this Ignition version being available for the PS4 makes me want to wait to see if it'll be localized here, but if we don't support the original version we probably wouldn't get this version anyway. But then, I guess I could always import if it comes to that...

Is there any reason to get the original version, other than to support it in the hopes that they bring over this game? Yeah, bad timing indeed...

Well CRAP. I figured this was going to happen, & it seems very unlikely we could just get Ignition as DLC.

I feel like still getting the game next month to support the fact Sega brought this over, but I would much rather get the improved, new version, but if I don't buy it, would Sega decide it didn't sell enough copies to warrant bringing the updated version over?

Granted, it's already cheap at launch (only $40 for PS3, $30 for Vita), but I feel like Sega of America should just be like "alright, look, there's a new & better version coming out, so we're just gonna delay/cancel the old version so we can bring you the current one".

Same here. I don't care about the new characters added in Ignition much either, so why would I wait?
