Uncharted as a series is on a upward trajectory though, which is not really the case with Halo. Halo 5 will most likely outsold UC4 in the US but not by 3:1 or even 2.5:1

Is it? 3 sold less than 2.

EDIT: Going off of memory, it may be flawed.

Surprised at Rare Replay and Gears of War both doing Top 10 simultaneously and rather high...

Xbox owners are coughing up the dough that's for sure.

Until Dawn Top 10 is nice. Par for the course for everything else...except Madden PS4 (I guess XB1 bundle sales not counted help give PS4 the edge + 700K+ base gap).

Looking forward to split leaks.

I never do predictions as I don't see my knowledge of the industry being that solid. 3:1 just seems outlandish to me based on status of two IPs right now...even in the U.S.

So, you don't predict any numbers, and ask me to make a bet?
No, thanks. ;)

Didn't PS4 outsell PS3 in the U.S. concurrently last year?

Are you talking about August 2008 VS August 2015?
If so, yes, PS3 sold 185,000 unit in August 2008, and we know PS4 is over 201,600.

I definitely didn't expect Gears to chart at all considering how sparse of a package it was. And I didn't think people gave much of a shit about Rare's backcatalogue. Wonder what was pushing most of those purchases?

For me is was sweet, delicious RC Pro Am.

The member you addressed that to was also talking about worldwide, so yeah, it would've helped.
Edit: I should be clear and say the last post I saw from that person was made regarding worldwide numbers.

The original person I addressed was Lucreto

Lucreto said:
October will be interesting

Uncharted Collection bundle on 9th October along with exclusive Japanese titles. Then Xbox with Halo on the 20th.

It will be hard to say who will win, both are system sellers.
Uncharted has no where near the popularity of Halo.

It's not my problem if people are subseqeuntly going to jump into the conversation and muddy the waters with worldwide stuff.

I mean 2014 lined up against 2007. I was under the impression PS4 outpaced it in sales.

3:1 Halo 5:Uncharted 4.... who's on avatar suicide watch? I'll take the bet to the contrary any day of the week. Hec 2:1 is still game for me - increase the pot of entrants.

No need to get defensive, I saw you talking to Vine and that's the conversation I jumped in on.

No official numbers which it odd. I went by Halo 3 numbers for 12.5 million copies and when Halo 4 came out with a further expanded userbase I estimate around 15 million.

Microsoft being quiet on the numbers after they announced Halo 3 figures makes me think it sold less.

It certainly won't do Halo 3 numbers 3 million in 12 days.

I don't think you can use 3's sales as an indicator for 4. Halo's popularity has been declining since 3, with it being the peak.

There is no way Halo 4 sold 15 million. While we don't have any solid proof either way, we do know the online playerbase dropped significantly after a month and never recovered. I can't see that happening if 4's sales were as strong as Halo 3's. 4's online numbers are actually significantly worse than Reach's. I wouldn't be surprised if it sold less than Reach.

On the other hand, we do have the Halo franchise sitting at 65 million according to Microsoft, and we do have rough numbers for Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, Wars, and Reach (though less info than the others), so maybe it did do well (though not Halo 3-well).

Halo 5 will launch to an install base of over 8 million in the USA (Xbox One) and can be expected to sell over 3 million units during month 1 in order to be a success.
What counts as month 1 though? Because it will only have a few days of tracking in October...
Then if you throw in November it's technically two weeks longer than the tracking period for Halo 4...

Okay here is my bet: After 31st July 2016, ratio between Halo 5 and Uncharted 4 will be less than 2:1 in favour of Halo in USA.

Don't forget they were released at a budget price, Rare Replay was $30 and Gears $40..

Before you guys go nuts with your bets. Have we had an exclusive game move over 1 million units in a month yet?

Worldwide? Yes. Just NPD? No.

Titanfall I guess, if you include 360 + One + PC + digital + bundles.

Didn't the 360 version come out a month after the XB1 version?

And I think the Halo:Uncharted ratio will end up somewhere around 2:1 NPD or lower (I'm thinking 3 million for Halo and 1.5 million for Uncharted). 3:1 assumes Uncharted 4 is going to only sell a million, which I don't see happening seeing as TLOU sold better than that and this is going to be advertised everywhere.

If you can put "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" in your PR you put "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" in your PR.

I mean, ya, but like, it just seems weird as fuck lol. I get the business aspects behind it but if you really think about how silly that is to include in an NPD statement then it's just...ya

Well Gears certainly did better than I expected. Clearly that brand has maintained popularity a bit better than expected. Will be interesting seeing how that carries over to Gears 4.

Call me crazy but I actually figured Until Fawn would be charted a bit higher with all the buzz (YouTube trending, positive wom, solid reviews, Markplier and Pewdiepie etc). Maybe it'll have decent legs next month.

Very curious to see what sort if hardware sales gap we have this month. Likely to be pretty close.

Not in the US.

I think that Sony has only had two first party titles break 1M first month in the US during their entire history (God of War 3 and The Last of Us) unless I am missing something major.

The Last of Us missed out. It was slightly under.

I don't see why some people are so confident that Halo will outsell Uncharted. Firstly, we have the Nathan Drake Bundle (which will help reintroduce the Uncharted brand to those who may have forgotten), secondly, we know that 40% of PS4 owners are people who never owned a PS3 and a huge chunk of those are going to be 360 owners, thirdly, Millions of people will have been exposed to the quality of ND because of TLOUR, fourthly, Uncharted 4 is going to be the most thrilling and visually incredible entry for the franchise and supposedly the last (MGSV effect), and fifthly (that sound wrong) the marketing behind Uncharted: A Thief's End will be insane and will probably accompany a price drop.

I'm not too sure Halo will outsell it, even in the US.

I agree, the whole statement is strange, don't they usually just say thanks for the support?is the Madden comment true if you include bundles?

Can't believe Call of Duty charted twice, let alone with a last gen bundle of a 3 year old game and a 5 year old game.

Does this just reflect on how slow August is?

Maybe if UC4 has a hype beta a la Destiny or Black Ops III, its lifetime sales will eventually just squeak past Halo 5's, due to the sheer gap in install base.

But NPD launch months? I would be incredibly surprised.

It might be part of the deal for all we know. "Hey, look at how popular this game still is. Give Activision money."
