43 days to go

The Halo hype is real and it is all encompassing.

The end of October seems so far away right now.

This is going to be the best Halo game yet and you can quote me on it :)

This thread has the most replies, so I suppose this is what we're going with.

Dynamic resolution confirmed:

More:

Wonder what it drops too at it's lowest. I would assume 900p would be the lowest at least I hope. Anything below that, could be jarring.

Can someone help me with the timelines? I have the Kilo-5 trilogy on audiobook, so fact checking is a bit of a chore for me.

When does this mission take place in relation to when
The infinity saved the arbiters forces from being overrun?

That was a great blog post, and a great gameplay video.
Loved it when Locke started climbing and climbing, and then looked at his teammates down there.

I love me some ancient Egypt so that level looks awesome, and huge. Love the different routes and areas you can leap to. And the faces and models in the cinematic video look great.

Kilo 5 was pre-halo 4.

Those ruins are older than the Pyramids and Locke is just crashing through them with no regard to history or proper excavation. #TeamChief

Nevermind that Chief blew up a Halo and severely damaged the Ark.

Halo 5 takes place after the events of the Kilo-Five Trilogy, Halo 4, comics and other novels.

The Swords of Sanghelios gameplay looks great. Why the hell didn't they just show this instead of the level from the E3 demo? This looks much more fun. Love the verticality of the level design. Honestly, it very reminds me of Destiny, in-fact, I could have been fooled in to thinking it was, were it not for the recognisable enemies. The boosting around, the titan smash etc. All welcome mind. Looks like you'll have more things at your disposal. The graphics aren't exceptional, but the way I look at it is that it looks graphically comparable to Destiny, and that game runs at half the frame rate, so I'm not complaining.

E3 is about big blockbuster showpieces...halo 5 doesn't seem made for that so they made a piece that would show that off...agree or disagree the logic there is pretty flawless

Big update from 343 on halo 5's campaign

Large Portion of the game seems to be 1080p but it will dynamically change res in heavy action areas

Two New Videos

Cinema First Look

Swords of Sanghelios Gameplay Capture

Edit:

Thought I would pull some quotes from what people have posted

Also a longer quote around the 60fps dynamic resolution topping at 1080p

Was really hoping we'd see a Halo environment that looks wide and open. Nope. Instead, we have more campaign footage of narrow environments. I'm sorry but the choice to break wall A or B is not good Halo gameplay.

Look everyone, I found more Halo 5 footage! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdxis0UnDFA

Coin Return

Loose Slot
The close up textures on the stone pillars look great. I pre-ordered the digital version a few days ago, the icon sitting on my home screen is almost torturous. Can't wait!

They're not but it looks very clean and I, for one, prefer that way.

Probably because it wasn't ready to be shown.

Destiny has super solid gameplay mechanics, so I'm glad to see that level of mobility here. It's hard to play other fps titles that don't let you run and jump and master the map like that.

New gameplay looks great. Gameplay-wise and graphically. Really clean looking too.

I hope the dynamic resolution doesn't drop too low.

It goes... Halo 3 - Kilo-Five (2553) - Hunters in the Dark (2555) - Halo 4 (2557/8) - Halo Escalation/Hunt the Truth (2558) - Halo 5 (2558)

The event you're talking about
Is in the 2nd Kilo-Five Novel.

Seriously...point out a level in any halo game that was foot based (not vehicle based) that is more open and has more options for approaching enemies...otherwise wtf to everything you typed

The stuff in the k-5 books were various factions of Covenant infighting after arbiter made treaty with humanity. The opposing Covenant forces here in Halo 5 are Jul's ranks.

But this is more blockbuster showcase than the earlier demo they showed lol. In terms of graphics and art, far more pleasing too.

Just watched the gameplay video. Great level design with multiple path ways and open spaces, something Halo 4 was sorely missing. Also love the aesthetic of Sanghelios.

Halo 5 continues to look incredible.

I really don't think The Swords of Sanghelios level is much different than the campaign demo we got at E3. It's still pretty much choose path A or choose path B.

The best Halo levels in prior games are not linear like this. See: The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, Tsavo Highway. Again, I'm not saying that there shouldn't be linear levels mixed in, I mainly just don't want another Halo 4 campaign. So far, everything we have seen from this game looks like Halo 4's campaign plus squads.

Yeah, it makes you wonder why they did not show this instead of what they did show. Perhaps it was not ready at the time or something.

Just watched the direct feed download and lighting end detail is really damn good. I am pretty impressed with this visually and it running 60fps is a treat.

Score sounds really understated in that gameplay clip. Feels like the only missing ingredient. Hopefully the audio mix isn't finished and we get to hear lots of ambient tracks. (which Halo 4 lacked)

edit: Okay lets not feed the troll...

Seriously liking the verticality of the levels we have seen in this video and the leaked one...really understand now why they had to add clamber...would have been impossible with just crouch jumping
