Where's the update that nerfs the hell out of characters like Roy, Kirby, and Ness then?

In all seriousness, I like it, as long as they don't increase the gravity to sack of bricks heavy, reduce the landing lag, and increase hit stun, I'll take it.
Actually, I was gonna suggest that they do all of that to help speed up the game.

Brawl stages with re-used music could easily become a more substantial "gimme" content every update, than Mii hats.

I think they could do at least one Brawl stage per update. At most they're just porting and then cleaning up, and slapping an omega. Not every stage needs a fancy Omega like Pirate ship. Orpheon for example, can just be the platform styled like the stage's regular platforms.

Brawl stages appear so easy to port over as DLC, they don't even care if it's only on one version.

Or they could release all three characters and two stages next patch and say that's all folks. That would be pretty sad. Just as they seem to have a good thing going to Brawl stage ports...

They've ported one Brawl stage so far for DLC and evidence suggests they had trouble with it, considering it seems they attempted to get it on the 3DS version and it doesn't run in 8-player (unlike every other DLC stage). I would imagine lack of music is one of the lowest tier hurdles they had.

Never messed with stage builder at all, lol. Is there a way to download fan made stages? I've seen some pretty nice great fox remakes with the space background. I'd like to have it but don't feel like making it myself and I fear we won't get a great fox DLC. Hell since the melee version is on 3ds I'd love to get the 64 version for wii u. I prefer that one anyway.

It couldn't have been too much work, as they had enough time for an entire other stage on the 3DS and basically an entire other stage with the Omega, including adding entirely new Wind Waker assets.

I got the impression it was so easy to do they had time to make a cool Omega and not really care if it's Wii U only. A stage that was a huge hassle and took a lot of resources just to add wouldn't have had the time to make the most unique Omega of Smash 4. They also wouldn't have put resources towards a challenging stage they could only sell to a third of the userbase.

I'm quoting myself:

And wouldn't you know it, North American Splatfest announced just today set for October 9. (The 16th is referring to playable Octolings in Splatoon preceded by the Direct on the 14th)
Okay, I understand knowing about an upcoming Splatfest via data mining the game, but how could they possibly know about an upcoming Direct? Why would that kind of information be anywhere in the game's data?

Three potential more stages, huh...?

Brawl stages, as well as Melee ones that were in Brawl, are probably the most likely, but I'd like to believe three of my top choices (Sector Z, Frigate Orpheon, and 3DS Mute City) are within the realm of possibility for the Wii U version. I guess I'd be okay with Corneria instead of Sector Z, but I always preferred the latter more.

Not really sure about other characters besides Wolf. I get the feeling they'll be ballot-induced surprises.

How is Mega Man X's Intro Stage/Storm Eagle/Boomer Kuwanger/Zero's Theme not in Smash 4? Battle Network 1-3 main theme/MMBN2-3 Battle Theme as well? Let's not forget Zero series' boss music (Crash, Cannon Ball, Nothing Beats & Falling Down), as well as Zero 2's Opening Stage theme (Departure).

Even if we limit ourselves to just classic series, where the hell is the Megaman & Bass music? MM8? 9? 10?

TL;DR, it really sucks knowing just how much exists that didn't get capitalized on, despite how much already exists in game.
Which is basically a lot of DLC that Nintendo can add, I mean imagine if they decided to create another Mega Man stage, this time Mega Man X, I would buy it only to fight to Boomer Kuwanger's music. Same for all Nintendo games that could have an stage.

I kinda wish people would stop demanding all the old stages and start with the new ones. Maybe we would have Bowser castle as DLC if people talked a half as much about that as they talked about Fountain of dreams

A good stage is timeless. Some stages haven't really aged at all, Pirate Ship for example. Couldn't tell that stage was even from Brawl, hasn't aged a day.

People's confidence in new stages is also a little shaky, since new stages don't have the best track record in Smash.

Basically this. While I personally hate the competitive style stage rating ("1. Stage should not interfere. 2. If it does, see 1."), recently the ratio of crazy stages to calmer ones is so high it's not even funny. We got to the point where Skyloft and Delfino Plaza are relatively calm.

Stage Builder was so limited that by the time stage sharing became available most people here seem to have had forgotten about it. Heck, just remembered that even I haven't uploaded the stages I made.

Bomberman would be awesome, but NO WAY he is a downloudable character from namco.

As I said more than once on this thread, I would LOVE a new stage that is a reference to Nintendo's 1963 "love hotels" .... like fighting on the roof of one and up in the clouds you have platforms that have a chance to increase or decrease damage based on the "leave luck to heaven" idea.

And you can see silhouettes of your Miis having a "fun time".

I don't want Bowser's Castle as DLC. Why would I talk about it? That said, I would rather have a good and non-forest/grass-related Donkey Kong stage instead of any old stages.
Personally I'm hoping for 2 more packs of 3 characters, but that's probably too farfetched.
Given the massive size of the roster, yes, it is.

I wouldn't mind a Bowser's Castle stage but I'd rather have something else. Like a good Underground stage (not that Mushroomy Kingdom 1-2 rubbish - it won't work as fighting arena, Sakurai pls) would be awesome.

Replace Bowser castle with the new stages you guy all want, I just said castle because it is the one stage every one seems to scratch their heads and wonder why it wasn't already there.

The two new DLC stages don't have any crazy hazards so I think there is not much need to worry about that

I don't think swimming was what killed Pirate Ship 3DS. That stage is graphically intense, it doesn't even support 8 player, the only paid DLC to not.
Swimming is easily a reason why the stage wasn't included. The whole mechanic does not exist in the 3DS version; fundamentally, Pirate Ship could not work.

And yes, the fact that it has a lot of graphical and functional actors is also another reason for its exclusion.

There is definitely an issue of variety in the many Mario stages added in this game.

I mean, all of the move to different environments or change looks or whatever, but, uh, yeah. Kind of a product of Nintendo's relatively recent Mario visual homogenization campaign, but it couldn't kill Sakurai to maybe not including the requisite green grass and blue sky area from every single Mario game released in the past five years. Even the Mario Galaxy stage could almost fit here. The only new Mario stage across both versions that doesn't at all is Rainbow Road.

A Dr. Mario stage and Bowser's Tower from 3DWorld could've broken that homogenization up a little bit at least.

I'd argue gimmick/design wise they're all very different at least, which is probably what you're mostly going to come away with if you're regularly fighting on those stages.

Though it is still a bit of a wasted opportunity when you consider how easy it'd have been to retain the gameplay gimmicks (and the actual stage layout as well, really) but use more distinguishable areas from those games.

Yeah I say the same thing about Jungle Hijinx

People always say it is the best thing ever cause of the cannons, but the cannons are like everywhere in DKCountry games so why not put in a new area, like the Foggy Fumes factory or Bramble Scramble from TF?

Well, all franchises but one should count their blessings that their only new stage isn't just a visual retread but also happens to come from the artistic wonder that is Other M.

I've given up on Sakurai in regards to the stages. For every one that is genius there are 2 others that leave me fuming. There's so many decisions that just don't make any sense...

Will I ever have a chance to collect all the amiibos? Really wish Nintendo made it easier.

Didn't want to go all in but fell in love with the collecting aspect of it. Plus they look cool as decorations for my nerd corner.

So Yahoo likes to field stories from a lot of places I visit. Apparently they picked up on Smash, so a no-name site has picked up that this guy David Gallagher- who voices Riku in Kingdom Hearts- now has Smash on his IMDB page and is asking if Riku is gonna be playable.

What do you guys think? Riku, or maybe this is big news for Sora fans?

I'm laughing at the thought an IMDB page could be taken seriously, but that is where Layton rumor came from...should we tweet this guy?

How is it not common knowledge that IMDB is user-edited just like Wikipedia is by now? I don't know how anyone thinks the 'leak' info there is ever legit

Both Sora and Riku are such terrible picks for a Square Enix rep. Give me Moogle or Chocobo or don't even bother.

Moogle, Chocobo, Black Mage, Cactuar, Tonberry...Hell, you can't go wrong with classic Final Fantasy enemy or character!
