Stump pretty much nailed it. It has a neat little gimmick to make the gameplay fun enough, but that's not really why you play the game.
That said, I feel like the story is best experienced alone? Does that make sense? You're not going to get the same thing out of it just watching someone else play it.

I'd probably agree with Undertale being a better experience if you play it yourself, the way that a lot of the jokes are delivered would probably lack impact if you're just watching someone else play.

I was really really disappointed with how short Jazzpunk was. It took me by surprise, I don't know why I expected more game out of that.
Not to say I didn't love it, but once the credits rolled I was super disappointed.
