Stop, No, and Don't: Spielberg says he'll "probably" do Indy 5 w/ Harrison Ford

From this interview at Yahoo News, as part of the Bridge of Spies promo tour.

“We’ve gotta figure this out because now, Tom is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies,” Spielberg explained. “Now I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom.”

Fortunately for Hanks, Spielberg has plans to reconcile this imbalance. After the next Indiana Jones, he said, “I’ve got to make another one with Tom, that’ll be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!”

Plans for Indiana Jones 5 were confirmed by producer Kathleen Kennedy in May, though she specified there was no timeline and “we haven’t started working on a script yet.” Spielberg’s quote suggests that both he and Harrison Ford are on board for the sequel, though neither has officially said as much.

Now, on the one hand, he's obviously kinda/sorta fucking around in the interview. But on the other hand, it's one of those jokes that is poking fun at an idea that seems to be an actual idea.

Proceed with speculation as to whether anyone wants Harrison Ford to get back in that costume again, whether Lucas' lack of involvement will actually make any difference this time out, and whether an Indy movie with Ford should lead to an actual passing of the torch or a full-fledged reboot afterwards.

(as you could tell from the thread title, I don't think Harrison Ford going back to Indy in 2016/2017 is a great idea at all, and I also don't think Spielberg needs to even look in the direction of that well again, much less actually dip into it)

edit: seems to be an issue in the thread itself, so it should probably go in the OP - George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012 for 4 billion dollars. He's been retired from filmmaking since.

I said biiiiiiiiiitch.

Who would they recast in the role of Indy? Harrison Ford is too much of a glass house for him to be doing action movies anymore (I doubt he'll be that physical in Star Wars 7)

At least you can talk. Who are you?
How is Ford coping these days? I thought I read that he was having trouble remembering lines. Maybe it was someone else.

You can neither reconcile, nor build upon the train wreck that was 4. I suggest you go make that Tom Hanks movie instead.

I've said it many times before. If both of them want to do a new Indy, the best way is this:

Young Indiana Jones style. Frame story of old Indy telling some story from his youth. Make it loop back around or something. Cast some new actor as Indy (like Chris Pine) and then boom. You've got Harrison in the movie. He can do some old person stunts I guess, and you got the meat of the movie with a fresh actor taking the mantle and the story set in Indy prime-time (30s/40). Spielberg directs and/or writes, Lucas stands in the corner.

There, torch passed. Everyone's happy and we don't have to suffer through Ford and Spielberg figuring out how to make old Dr. Jones work for an action movie.

Oh, yeah. And no Shia.

At this point, if we HAVE to make one, I'd like it set during the 80s or 90s and have it be Indiana Jones' grandson. Or granddaughter. I don't even care anymore. Just no more Ford.

If this happens, I fully expect there to be some weird magic stuff that transforms him into another actor (Pratt, or otherwise) by the end.
