Who do you think will make a new Conker game?

I've been wondering about this recently, and I just wanted to make a thread asking what you guys think. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we'll get a new Conker game for sure, but a lot of interesting things have been going on with this IP lately.

MS seems to finally be paying attention to this IP more than they have in recent years. Conker has been included in Project Spark with his own little game in Conker's Big Reunion: Episode 1, but apparently Episode 2 has been cancelled. The reason why is because Project Spark is now free, but some people on GAF have speculated that this could be a sign that MS is now focusing on making an official Conker game. Conker is apparently the most played game in Rare Replay as well, so maybe MS/Rare see the demand for a new one?

So what do you guys think? If a new Conker game is going to be made, who do you think will make it? Apparently, Chris Seavor himself (the creator of Conker) has said that he no longer thinks he and the original Conker team can make a good sequel since "their tastes have changed and they've moved on since then".

Do you think Seavor would still work on it? Or maybe Rare themselves will make it, or it might be outsourced to another studio? Would you trust the current Rare with a Conker sequel? Discuss.

Insomniac would be a great pick.

I fear the humour would be lost on them.

Conker needs to be developed by a British dev. No arguments. Every single bit of conker, every joke, every visual gag in Bad Fur Day is entirely true and cuntingly fantastic British humour. Anything less authentic than that is not worth it.

An American developed Conker game would be jarring. Like American red dwarf or American Fawlty Towers. Shudder.

Not Microsoft and not Rare. Despite PS/Rare Replay I have little faith in them really going back to these old IPs, they just seem adverse to the idea

I don't think a new Conker would work, I wish that wasn't the case but part of the charm I think would impossible to create nowadays as the creators say themselves.

So to answer nobody.

There is never going to be another Conker, and there never should be. You couldn't really do a followup to it now. It was from another era.

Conker really isnt that funny to begin with....

It's full of dry humour.

It's not laugh out loud humour. It's low key, low brow, dry humour.

It's the visual gags, the references to booze and fags, the hungover sprawls, the spaced-esque film references.

Absolutely not, they don't have the magic anymore.

In an ideal world one of Nintendo's great developers would make the game while someone who's good with cartoon themes like the Adventure Time team or Genndy Tartakovsky came up with the story treatment.

Definitely not, and I think most people would agree.

Almost 100% sure the poster was being sarcastic.

It certainly low brow, but it isnt dry, low key, or clever. It pretty obvious visual shock humor.

I don't see them making another Conker; its an IP that Rare has to make themselves or at least have strong supervision over.

IF another Conker was to be made, I see the following happening first:
-Conker Live and Reloaded HD being part of Rare Replay with extra content
-Conker guest staring in a few other titles (Killer Instinct, ect) to spread his name around
-Rare and MS hunting around for a developer to develop the title, with Cris and the original team over-seeing the project
-Insomniac, Double Fine or Rare themselves would likely develop the title
-Mix of the classic gameplay of the original with the improvements to gameplay that Live and Reloaded added to the mix plus new gameplay mechanics riffing on the modern tropes in gaming.
-Releasing sometime in 2016 or 2017 with it being a big holiday title for Microsoft with lots of advertising and coverage at media events

:( why do you pick at this wound OP. There is no hope. MS have decided the little squirrel is only relevant enough to get people into their Minecraft beater which they no longer care about since they bought Minecraft.

BFD was an anomaly, it was a masterpiece which should have never happened, when MS censors something more than Nintendo has, you know something extraordinary has happened.

Farewell my furry friend, the joy and laughter you brought me as a 15 year old will never be forgotten.

Conker is dead, his original game was the perfect storm of weird decisions and strong attitude, even the remake they released for xbox sometimes missed the point of the original with censoring and whatnot.

And really one has to wonder what else they could do with it, the original did an extremely vast amount of parodies, a modern sequel would just be better to control, and lets be honest the original controlled like shit but the charm was what made it special.

there is no chance in hell anything like Bad Fur Day will get released by a major publisher again

So I posted an upcoming game being released by a major publisher that will clearly push boundaries like Conker did. Stick of Truth did too.

how do you know what boundaries it will push? it's South Park, people know South Park and Stick of Truth pushed no boundaries at all

anyway what I was trying to say is that no Conker game like Bad Fur Day will ever be released again

weren't they censored by Ubisoft themselves for some marketing purposes, except for the PC versions which got off scot-free for some reason

you're really clutching at straws

Whatever. Whilst you let me know the contents of the new SP game, kindly throw next week's lotto numbers my way too please.

Neither of us know what the fuck the game will include so let's leave it at that.

No one, probably, but if I had to pick I'd always go with Rare.

I don't know if they were just giving lip service or not but I read an interview post-Kinect Sports that said people at Rare are interested in old IP, specifically Banjo. They'll be doing Sea of Thieves for a while but I'd be really surprised if they don't go back to at least one of their old series after that.

It certainly low brow, but it isnt dry, low key, or clever. It pretty obvious visual shock humor.

Either your memory is bad or you haven't actually played the game because no, all of it is not obvious visual shock humor.

Yeah. If I remember right, they actually said this before Kinect Sports Rivals was even released. So they were already looking at their old IPs before KSR was even finished.

Ask me after Sea of Thieves comes out.

And yeah I do think Seavor will voice Conker again if they make a sequel.

Actually, I wouldn't think SoT turning out to be good or not is an indicator of Rare being able to pull off a Conker sequel. SoT is obviously a very different game.

We have nothing else to base on what current Rare is capable of doing, the last real game they made outside of Kinect Sports was Nuts and Bolts in 2008.

If Sea of Thieves is good I'll give the studio the benefit of the doubt with their future titles.

I see what you're saying. Fair enough. But I'm just saying that if SoT will be good, it doesn't necessarily mean a Conker sequel made by Rare would be good as well.
